    Nice Murton. Swing at the first pitch. Sorry Murton lovers, but he sucks. He can't hit for power and he can't hit for average. On top of that he's not too bright (swinging at the first pitch after the guy in front of him had a 7 or 8-pitch at-bat.

    I do hope you realize that Cain is 5-13 and Zito has an ERA of close to 5. You don't get 13 losses by being THAT nasty. This is a last place team we're talking about here. They should be sweeping these bums, especially with Z on the mound.

    resign for an awful '99/'08 What a great comparison. It's been a good deal, and Kendall has done a good job, but I'm afraid of the re-signing. Didn't the Cubs try to convert Tyler Houston into a 3B, and Gaetti's signing was a stopgap until Houston was ready? Or was it just a platoon situation? With Geovany Soto coming up Sep. 1 and Hank White signed for next season, I don't think there's any danger of Kendall being resigned. We are talking about Hendry though, so I suppose anything's possible.

    Considering it took Morgan what, 18 or 19 seasons to accumulate 5 GG's, and Sandberg won almost twice as many in five fewer seasons, I'd say only a fool would try to argue that Morgan was a better fielder. The only reason Morgan gets the run he does is: 1.) He played on several excellent teams, and had a lot of postseason experience with which to gain notoriety. 2.) He's on television every damn Sunday night. 3.) Never stops telling others how great he was. Morgan has a massive inferiority complex. I can't stand the SOB, and it's undoubtedly people like him who keep guys like Ron Santo out of the HOF.

    Jerk. I'm still stuck with Marquis Tuesday night, for which I will be closer to home plate than the first baseman will be. Maybe they won't even try to play tomorrow and I can still see Lilly for that game. Z only threw 44 pitches tonight (pretty much like a side session between starts). He could very easily be ready for Game 3 of the series.

    Horrible, judging from some of the earlier posts in this thread. They'll be lucky to get the game in tomorrow. Yikes. Just what the Cubs don't need: an impromptu doubleheader sometime in the next month and a half on a scheduled day off.
