  1. Couldn't have said it better myself. I bet if you asked all those Cub fans who booed what they thought of Uecker, they'd tell you they think he's a great ambassador to the sport and were doing it just to give him a little ribbing.
  2. According to Sullivan, Ohman will be called up. Ohman has a 1.59 ERA at Iowa, and will be called up sometime in the next week. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070828cubsbits,1,2573455.story?coll=cs-cubs-headlines
  3. Why? Even if it works, I'm complaining. Yeah right. Yeah so, I'm the first to call out decisions that are bad even if they work We hadn't scored since what? The 3rd inning? Sorry, but that was not a bad decision, it was bad execution. Kendall couldn't execute the bunt, and then he couldn't execute with the runners moving. It's that simple. Why would you send the tying run with 0 outs in the 9th when he's already in scoring position. It makes no sense. All Kendall has to do there is make a simple sacrifice bunt. It's fundamental baseball.
  4. Typical Cubs. Baffled by a pitcher with a 5+ ERA. Nice work, guys. Game over. I'm going to go outside and mow my jungle of a lawn. Have a nice evening, all.
  5. The bloom is off the rose with Fonte-NOT.
  6. The only thing keeping the Cubs in first right now is the utter collapse of the Brewers. Of course, the only thing keeping the Brewers and Cards in striking distance is the Cubs' crappy play. Have we really played that crappy lately? Before this series, we had one the last two. We still might win this one. Over the last two weeks, we've played roughly .500 baseball. And that's no way to win a pennant chase.
  7. Honestly? I don't recall one. Early August 2003. The only reason I remember is because that series had that game that schilling pitched that went into extras, and Troy Oleary drove in Aramis Ramirez to end it. That game was delayed like 2 or 3 hours by rain, too. Troy O'Leary? Boy, there's a crappy name I haven't had to think about in while.

  9. He's on the DL until tomorrow I thought.
  10. CUBS are 17-23 when Murton starts.... 49-39 when he doesn't. Go CUBS !! Stats don't lie. Last night was an illusion. Murton is not an MLB-caliber outfielder, and should not be doing anything more than pinch-hitting for this team.
  11. Pathetic. Three groundouts against a pitcher with a 5.33 ERA.
  12. That's why they need to bring Gracie over to replace Brenly.
  13. Yea of course like when he was in yesterday and they lost
  14. In this park, no less. IIRC, they're WP is below .400 at Bank One/Chase.
  15. It's so pathetic that Jones has been this team's best hitter for the last month.
  16. 5.33 ERA? I'm predicting that he'll get out of the inning on about 7 pitches.
  17. You haven't been around this team long, have you?
  18. Good job getting out of the jam, Marquis.
  19. Do you post here only to laugh at people that aren't blindly optimistic? More like post here to laugh at the obnoxious pessimists. How old are you? We aren't pessimists, more like realists. Optimists are obnoxious. Meanwhile, Marquis needs to hit the showers and the waiver wire fast. What does age have to do with anything? And realists? Are you kidding me? How many times has the season been over already? After 20+ years of this, its pretty hard to be optimistic about this team. Especially based on the way they're playing in a game like today. When there's no pressure, they play well. Once they've gotten into first, they've played like absolute dogcrap.

How many times has the season been over already? How many times have we seen the Cubs tank their playoff chances? How many times have we seen the Cubs tank even if they manage to make the playoffs? It's like 2001 and 2004 all over again.
  21. What a bunch of losers. Seriously, a must-win game and this is how they respond??? It doesn't even matter if they make the playoffs, which they likely won't, but even if they do, they're toast.
