  1. Rally Girl Never Fails Rally Girl Never Fails God bless the Rally Boobs.
  2. who cares, Cubs are always going to lose no matter who is playing for the Cubs. Yet you just started a thread complaining about Zambrano's contract... Strange. As far as the original topic, I don't think anyone in the world thinks it's a good or smart contract. But sometimes when you have the resources the Cubs do and you're desperate, you have to overpay. There were situations in past years where they refused to overpay or hand out a huge contract and in part, our offense suffered. Obviously you don't want to make a habit out of that but sometimes you have to put yourself out there. I seem to remember getting outbid by the Tigers after the 2004 season for Maggs. Boy would it have been nice to have him. It would be nice to see him improve on his numbers at Wrigley just a little bit though. His numbers are downright Murtonesque at home.
  3. 1.5 right? Ah, forgot about the Brewers. Mentally I've already designated the Cards as the competition. Don't, the Brewers are much better. i still think the cardinals will finish 5+ games out. Everyone on the Brewers team is having an all-world year, and they're still going to finish behind the Cards. Cause JJ Hardy doesn't scowl when he strikes out. Yeah, that's exactly what I said. Whatever.
  4. Especially at home. I'm not real big on seeing him bat leadoff either, at least with the bad leg.

  7. Is this a joke? It almost sounds like you are trolling for responses. Are you going to start talking about fire and intensity now and suggesting that Lou needs to throw a fit and start throwing bases around out there to light a fire under the team? I don't agree with ICF at all, I think the whole facial expression thing is pure crap, but I would like it if Lou blew up and started screaming at this team behind closed doors. I don't think it could hurt at this point. I don't think "Mellow Lou" is a real big help at this point. It's a little too much like Dusty if you ask me. There has to be a balance. They're grown men, and you're not going to get anywhere if you scream at them 24/7/52 He screamed once, not at them, but at the umps, and they went on a six-week tear. I don't think it would hurt. Last Saturday's game in AZ would have been a perfect time to do it, based on how poor that strike zone was.
  8. Got the Jones single. So close, yet so far.

  10. Oh God. Are you seriously citing a player's facial expressions now?? Seriously?? Oh God. Yes I am. Seriously. Only a fool would think that something's not wrong with him based on that, and his poor offensive production this year. But don't let me muddy up your pollyannish view of this team, that's everything's just swell. I am impressed with your ability to judge people emotions and feelings based on their expressions. You must be one of the best poker players in mankind, I bet you can just see through people's poker faces. Let me ask you something. Can you tell if Zambrano cares whether he wins or loses?

  12. We have to stop thinking like that. There's no excuse to let a team that was just swept by a last place team to come into your house and win two out of three. None. The problem is that there's no killer instinct among anyone on this team (except maybe Z); they all think they can go 83-79 and win the World Series just like the Cards did. You know what? That's a rarity. You can't expect to play like utter dogcrap in the most important games of the year and be ready to throw the switch come playoff time. The Brewers are a dying team. Instead of nailing the coffin shut, we're giving them CPR. Yeah everyone else on the team besides Z isn't trying cause they want to put up as little effort as posible in winning the division. They certainly don't want to build up a lead so they can relax down the stretch. Only Z is trying, and I know this because he waves his arms when he ends an inning. Derrek Lee doesn't even smile that often. Do you ever watch Lee at the plate after he gets called for a third strike, or hits another can of corn to shallow left? The look on his face is like someone whose dog's just been shot. That's not what I'd call a killer instinct.
  13. Considering he's only being brought in for mop-up duty, it's going to take a lot for him to prove his worth. It's time to give up the dream. Wood isn't going to be the pitcher we remember from 1998, or even the stretch run in 2003, at least the lights-out arm everybody remembered him to be.

  15. You mean besides his .247 AVG, .671 OPS 4 HR, and 15 RBI at home this year?
  16. We all know how that turns out. Advantages on paper never turn out very well for this team. See: Doug Davis, Bronson Arroyo, Ben Sheets, etc etc.
  17. yeah, I think they want to lose They sure play like it.
  18. I'm seriously doubting that this team wants to win.
  19. Boy, I'm sure glad Z's relaxed now that we signed him to that big contract.
  20. Like Doug Davis, for example. Sheets had nothing tonight. He was leaving balls up, had no movement on his pitches, and we just let him off the hook time after time after time. How many runners have the Cubs left in scoring position tonight? 5? 6? That's inexcusable.
  21. You're right. People booed because they all hate Bob Uecker and think he's the devil. It had nothing to do with the fans wanting to uphold a tradition and think it's wrong for a competing team's broadcaster to sing the stretch. You mean it was wrong for Vin Scully and Jack Buck to sing it as well?
