  1. Would you rather trade Prior??? That is the main idea behind this ridiculous theory! If it meant getting Tejada at the cost of replacing Murton with Burnitz, would you then be in favor of making a deal with Orioles. No. These are not the only options out there. What I'm saying is that I wouldn't necessarily "move heaven and earth" for Miguel Tejada. I wasn't trying to trash your proposal, but my dislike for Burnitz runs deeeeeeeeep. As I've stated before, I'd much prefer getting a big bat (LH) for the outfield than upgrade from Cedeno to Tejada. I like Murton a great deal, but I wouldn't hesitate to platoon him with Jones if it meant having a real threat in RF.
  2. Hold the phone, here people. My worst fear last offseason was that Burnitz would be a Cub. The joy I felt when his option was declined was second only to that of Jose Macias Day. It would be great to get Tejada without giving up Prior, but lets not get carried away here. Oh, and it's not going to happen. I hope.
  3. I'll take Greg Maddux for $9 Million, Alex.
  4. Maybe next year they'll take Jones- one crappy ex-Cub RF after another, and another...
  5. Now. I'd rather trade Lee for Tejada than Prior for Tejada. I'd rather assess our needs more accurately at the beginning of the offseason, and not trade either.:headache:
  6. If he played RF his production would be far less impressive. The bulk of his value comes from the position he plays on the field. He's not a triple crown threat by any stretch. He's not a 3 or 4 hitter on a big budget team. Point taken. I was assuming top 3 at his position, and I'd much prefer a top 3 RF than SS with Cedeno around.
  7. I agree 100%. If Tejada were younger, left handed, played RF (pre-Jock signing), and without steroid suspicion, I'd think more of this proposal. As it is I think there is far too much risk involved. Prior's potential to string together 20 win/ sub 3.5 (or even <3.00) ERA seasons shouldn't be taken so lightly, imo.
  8. Post of the year.
  9. Makes it kind of tough to justify trading Prior in this environment, no? Finding someone from outside the organization to fill his spot in the rotation looks to be terribly expensive whether in $$$ or players. I don't think I could do that deal.
  10. 4 Runner with 155,000 miles with absolutely no problems. The wife has an Accord with even more miles with only regular mantenance costs. It has been incredibly inexpensive to drive for the last 7 years. I won't rule out domestic vehicles when the time comes to replace hers (soon), but I'd be hard pressed to convince her to get anything but another Honda.
  11. Concepcion was my favorite player for a few years as a kid, but in retrospect it looks like his reputation was helped immensely by the team around him. I don't think we're having the conversation if he played for the Brewers.
  12. Good to hear. I just bought one on half.com for $25. Go me.
  13. A healthy Kerry Wood.
  14. So what about this quote from the winter meetings? Either Prior has made it known that he wouldn't mind such a trade, Hendry was blatantly lying, or this deal is purely speculative. I'd be shocked if anything were to come of this, especially over the holiday. As far as we know, the conversation went something like this: JH: Hey, if you ever get around to trading Miggy, we'd sure like to have him. MF: Yeah, we'd like to have Prior. JH: Good talk, Mike. MF: O.K. Jim, talk to you later. Maybe I'm hoping against hope, but I think Prior will still be a Cub come April.
  15. Here are mine: Patterson BN- $3.00 Blanco BN- $1.50 Hairston BN- $2.00 Perez BN- $2.50 Cedeno SS- $0.35 Ramirez 3B- $10.50 Lee 1B- $9.42 Barrett C- $4.00 Walker 2B- $2.50 Murton LF- $0.35 Pierre CF- $5.5 Jones RF- $5.33 Howry RP- $4.00 Dempster RP- $5.00 Willamson RP- $2.00 Wuertz RP- $0.35 Ohman RP- $0.35 Novoa RP- $0.35 Eyre RP- $2.70 Prior SP- $3.50 Zambrano SP- $5.00 Wood SP- $12.50 Maddux SP- $9.00 Rusch SP- $2.50 Williams SP- $0.35 Total $94.55 I guess I had left Pierre out for some reason. Looks like 5-10 M.
  16. I've got approx. 10 M assuming 100M payroll. This includes estimates for Patterson, Hairston, Z, and Prior.
  17. I couldn't possibly agree more with you Vance. Beat me to it. I agree.
  18. I really don't want to see Prior dealt, but if he is I'd like to see Markakis somehow involved. This is not good news.
  19. If Prior really is unhappy here, perhaps his inclusion in a trade is at his own request/ suggestion. Maybe he won't go public with it, like Tejada ( and he really doesn't have much leverage), but maybe he's made it known that he "wouldn't be opposed" to such a trade. Whatever the reason, Hendry has done an abrupt about face with regard to dealing him if these rumors are to be believed. It definitely seems as though there is smoke here.
  20. We better be getting Manny AND Tejada then... Manny AND Tejada? World Series here come the Cubbies =P~ Sorry, Manny will cost as many runs as he drives in. NO Thanks!!!!!!!! Manny might cost you 10-20 runs on defense. I'm pretty sure he'd generate a few more than that.
  21. I don't trust Murph as far as I could throw him, but if Zito moving to Balto gets Prior's name off the table, that would be wonderful. With your bad knee, Ed, you really shouldn't... ah, nevermind. I agree with Tree, trading Pie looks a whole lot better now that Prior's name has been bandied about.
  22. That's because it sucks. As an aside, does anyone think this makes Pie or even Murton more available trade pieces for a big bat??? I'm looking for a silver lining.
