  1. Thank goodness, it would have really sucked to have Maddux's last game as a Cub ruined by a blown save.
  2. Dear Greg Maddux (or any other Cub pitcher), Please plunk a Cardinal hitter. Sincerely, The Undersigned PS: Any of Edmonds, Pujols, Eckstein -- in that order of preference -- would suffice.
  3. Damn, I wish I was watching this. Edit: (on mute)
  4. Joe Morgan: "Neifi was one of the best shortstops in the game when he was with Colorado."
  5. Memo to Joe Morgan: you shouldn't be awarded first base if you don't try to get out of the way of the pitch. Rule 6.08 (b) He is touched by a pitched ball which he is not attempting to hit unless (1) The ball is in the strike zone when it touches the batter, or (2) The batter makes no attempt to avoid being touched by the ball;v If the ball is in the strike zone when it touches the batter, it shall be called a strike, whether or not the batter tries to avoid the ball. If the ball is outside the strike zone when it touches the batter, it shall be called a ball if he makes no attempt to avoid being touched.
  6. I'd love to see Roddy Piper hit Jim Hendry on the side of the head with a coconut.
  7. Hawk is in complete dejection mode right now. High comedy.
  8. This is excruciating.
  9. With the team where it's at, I normally wouldn't be nervous in a situation like this; but damnit, I want Z to get the win.
  10. I have bad memories of Julio Franco when he was with Atlanta. Please, lets not relive that experience.
  11. Why was Neifi playing at DP depth when an out matters much more than the runner on first?
  12. Zambrano with 101 pitches tonight, wonder if he'll be out for the 8th? (The above was a rhetorical question.)
  13. Outs on the basepaths do not matter as long as you HUSTLE!
  14. Come on Cubs, finish him! kombat voice>
  15. We're not worthy... 8)
  16. He also fields pretty well. I forgot to mention that he is a terror on the basepaths as well. :P
  17. I knew Z could hit and pitch, but I never knew he had the nimble dexterity of a gold glove shortstop.
  18. Come on Cubs, don't let up on Glavine. I have a confession, I've never liked Glavine. I can't explain it, but I've harbored an irrational hatred of the man for years. Maybe it's just his smug, know-it-all look, like he thinks he is the [expletive] of the walk or something... http://espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/4122.jpg But seriously, I've always hated the guy and I can't figure out why.
  19. Nice to have the real Z back. Hopefully, he decides to stick around.
  20. He threw a pitch and motioned for the trainer to come out. The trainer was looking at his left side/left arm and the announcers thought it might have been an oblique pull, but no one was sure. oblique pull it is Is that from the horses mouth? If so, phew.
  21. The more Williamson pitches, the more he hurts his trade value.
  22. Mark Grace's line: "Hey, big girl. Can I buy you a cheeseburger?" This whole team needs a couple of slumpbusters (Dusty and Hendry included).
