  1. Almost. I didn't want to cheat by making a bunch of useless posts just to get to 25 pages. Not very sporting. You mean like this post? Yeah. I think that is a pretty good example.
  2. I would love to see Carlos play a game in LF just for the fun of it, but you just know he'd probably tear an anterior cruciate ligament chasing down a fly ball.
  3. Almost. I didn't want to cheat by making a bunch of useless posts just to get to 25 pages. Not very sporting.
  4. Random Carlos factoid (from Jasyson Stark): Finally, how about this list of players that Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano outhomered in June and July (he hit four total): Eric Chavez, Jeff Kent, J.D. Drew, Kevin Mench, Trot Nixon, Morgan Ensberg, Geoff Jenkins, Brian Giles and (say it isn't so) Abreu.
  5. And finally, if it weren't for Neifi, we wouldn't be the powerful juggernaut we are now: "If you have got (Matt) Murton, (Angel) Pagan, Aramis (Ramirez), Jacque, Michael Barrett, Juan Pierre and Neifi (Perez) hot … if you get guys hot, you're going to win," Baker said. "We also have some young pitchers going deeper into the games. So therefore I can matchup who I want to in the latter parts of the game." But we already knew that, didn't we.
  6. More Dusty Wisdom: 'We've got the young man back to 5-5,'' manager Dusty Baker said after a 6-3 victory Tuesday night for Marmol over the Brewers at Miller Park. ''This helps him a lot because when you come up here, you want to stay here. He had better tempo going and better arm slot. It made it easier for him to throw strikes. ''With young guys, you might see regression with progress. We've got him concentrating on his release point to throw consistent strikes because he has the arm to do it, big-time. ''Normally you work on that in the minor leagues, but he's having to find it in the big leagues.''
  7. Dusty Wisdom: "Winning and getting hits and scoring runs relaxes you," manager Dusty Baker said. "When you're not winning and not hitting and you're pitching fair, it sort of makes everybody uptight a little bit. … We're starting to feel that feeling of winning when you go out there every day."
  8. Is this thing 25 pages yet? I think with enough intestinal fortitude, it can be done.
  9. Todd Hollandsworth....hmmm, where have I heard that name before? Oh yeah, he was the Cubs' starting left fielder for much of last year. Journeyman he may be, but apparently he was good enough to start for Hendry and Dusty's Cubs.
  10. It just sounds contrary to everything I've heard come out of Maddux's mouth. Maybe he did say something like that, I don't know, but my guess is that the announcer is reading something into a Maddux quote that probably isn't there.
  11. Sounds like the announcer is making up stuff.
  12. Are you questioning Bill Schroeder? They has a name? Yes, they sucks. Yes, that is their name.
  13. Pfffft. I can't wait until Dusty is replaced by this... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v511/freejju/newcubmanager.jpg
  14. Ditto. OK, it's 50-50 that he's NOT coming back. It'll come down to whatever Hendry's gut tells him to do. So the Cubs are going to sign a cheeseburger in the offseason?
  15. A better performance for Marmol tonight, but... 4 walks in 5 1/3 IP 98 pitches, 53 strike, 45 balls That's not going to cut it. Throw more strikes, please.
  16. Bruce Miles speculates that it is 50-50 that Dusty comes back and the thread dies. I would try to say something encouraging right now, but I'm too depressed.
  17. Even St. Jude, patron saint of lost causes, has given up on the Cubs. http://www.catholic-forum.com/SAINTS/saintj03.jpg
  18. Nice quick inning for Marmol there. Just 10 pitches.
  19. Why the long face? A Cub win tonight and a Cardinal loss moves the Cubs to 13 games back. But still 9.5 back in the Wild Card Screw the wild card, I'm thinking division!
  20. Why the long face? A Cub win tonight and a Cardinal loss moves the Cubs to 13 games back.
  21. http://www.goingfaster.com/darkthoughts/lance-bass.jpg Now that was funny.
  22. More 2 out magic! ...and Hendry says we aren't clutchy enough.
