  1. Ichiro? No chance. He's only played here for 7 years. No chance? I think Ichiro is a lock if he retires tomorrow. Why? He has 1600 hits. That's about half of what it typically takes to get in. He'll probably get in if he plays long enough, but I don't see any possible way he'd get elected if he retired tomorrow.

  3. Yeah, after thinking about it for a second I guess Alou doesn't have a chance. I think Delgado will get in though. He'll have the 500 HR's, and look at his career line. It's pretty solid. His comparables are McGriff, Thomas, Bagwell, Thome, etc. During his peak (98-03), he was one of the top hitters in baseball. I'd vote for him.
  4. Really? Wow, i didn't realize it was that soon. Awesome!
  5. Jeff Kent for sure. Jim Thome for sure. Alou might get in. Delgado Lofton will get some votes, I wouldn't bet on him getting in though. Vizquel could be borderline.
  6. I hate the Patriots more than most people, but I don't know if I can get too upset about Belichek leaving the field. Most everyone thought that time had expired, so he shook hands with Coughlin and that was that. I guess technically he should've stayed on the sideline and waited five minutes for everyone to restore order so that the Giants could snap the football one last time, but was it really necessary? The guy just lost the Super Bowl, he shook hands with the opponent. What more was there for him to do? Watch Eli Manning say "hike" and put his knee on the ground? I don't think it's too big of a deal that he walked off. And for all we know, he could've just thought that the game was officially over. Someone please convince me otherwise, I don't feel right sticking up for him or the team.
  7. Truffle, I don't understand you right now. No one is saying that Eli is a great QB (unless I missed it). But the guy just led his team to a Super Bowl title, beating a team who had dominated the league all year. And he led his team to three playoff wins over favored opponents prior to that... all on the road. Give the man some credit. I personally don't like the guy, and never will, due to his pissy ass "I don't wanna go to San Diego" attitude. But you gotta give credit where credit is due.
  8. That was a great game. Incredible play by Eli on that last drive. And I like Joe Buck calling football games. Baseball, not so much.
  9. I like Tom Petty, but this is a boring half time show.
  10. I love seeing Brady get sacked.
  11. Strange commercial, but that Audi looks bad ass.
  12. Hendry sure does like Sam Fuld. That or he's publicly trying to talk him up in hopes of causing others to think that Fuld is closer to Pie's level than he truly is. I'm hoping it's the latter.
  13. I think the sentence following your bolded part is more telling than anything else Lou said. I wonder what, exactly, he's referring to.
  14. Three weeks from today. Probably around 9 or 10 AM.
  15. The main reason I paid for Premium (saying joined premium just sounds weird) was to get rid of the ads. A couple weeks after the conversion, I stopped paying for it because the ads were still there. I know Tim's got a career and this is just a side thing, but it's been three months... that is ridiculous. You can't expect people to continue to pay when you brush aside the main feature that they're paying for. There are a lot of IT guys that post here. I'm sure one of them would be happy to help with what would seem to be an hour long project.
  16. Nice to see Anderson stepping up and doing what's right. Get those thugs the hell out of Columbia. What an embarrassment to the University, and what a complete mess that the MU basketball program is. So freaking frustrating.
  17. The thread title now references one of those "insiders" and what he has to say? Hilarious.
  18. Depending on what day it is, I might be in for this.
  19. Because of the rising sun flag? I always associated that version of the flag with war/nationalism so that's the first thing I noticed when I saw the ad. I'm just kidding, I'm not Japanse American...but the "I don't need an interpreter" phrase? What is that supposed to mean? Japanese people are not capable of learning English? Racists. Umm, if he didn't need an interpreter wouldn't that be because he knew the language?
  20. Because Santana is the best pitcher in baseball and has been a badass for years now, and Bedard is not the best pitcher in baseball and has only one season of badassedness. I'd be thrilled to see him in a Cubs uniform, but I know it wont happen.
  21. I've been on a fiend lately too. In fact, I spent about two hours this afternoon heavily looking at flight/hotel costs for April and May Cubs away games. I did pretty well for myself in calendar year 2007, and as a result I want to treat myself to a weekend of Cubs. The only problem is, it'll probably be a solo trip, as my girlfriend doesn't want to go and my Cards fans buddies obviously aren't interested... I don't mind it at all, but it'll be something I'm not used to.
  22. Thanks! I got great seats for Brewers and Cardinals games. Any trick to getting in? I'm still stuck in the VWR.
  23. An FYI to anyone interested, most Red Sox single tickets go on sale in about ten minutes.
  24. It's time to brush your teeth, Hideki.
