  1. We don't win because of rookie hazing? Wait... what?
  2. Hendry is going to try and resign Pierre. I just really hope that JP gets a better offer from some other team. I don't want to see him here for the next 3+ years.
  3. Oh wow, I knew he has been real good but I didn't realize he has the 8th best OPS post-ASB. I've been saying that Murton should be our left fielder next year for quite some time now. This just reaffirms that.
  4. Little known fact... Murton has put up better numbers than Carlos Lee in the 2nd half.
  5. Wow, that's so pathetic. It's sad that Pete Rose, one of the all time greats, has sunk to this.

  7. I agree with every word of that. I'd add that if we sign Soriano to play somewhere in the outfield, or somehow manage to dump Jones somewhere and get some other big bat for the outfield, I'd be fine with Theriot at 2B next season. Theriot Murton Lee Ramirez Soriano/Andruw Jones Barrett Jacque Jones Izturis That's not a bad lineup at all.
  8. Wow, what a night for Ramirez! And Theriot stole his 10th base... how many times has he been caught stealing? I didn't realize he was so fas. Of course, watching maybe three games in the past two months is probably the reason why.
  9. I stole this topic idea from another forum, but I got a good laugh out of it. And I figured it'd be even funnier if we apply it to the Cubs. So... 10. Together? No. We'd probably have to meet in person for that to happen. And that'd just be weird. Haha. Could you imagine the conversation with the people you regularly go to games with? "Hey {person} what time do you want to start drinking Saturday morning?" "Oh, I'm actually going to this game with some other friends." "Really, who?" "Just some guys from the internet."
  11. What do they gain besides making people "feel better?" An extra base? Not making an out? I edited my post above to expand on that. I think "hustle" is so subjective and varies so much from player to player, coach to coach and fan to fan that trying to set some kind of "hustling standard" to even begin to figure out if a player's lack of or having "hustle" significantly helps or hurts a team is next to impossible. I don't need anyone to come up with a stat to measure a player's hustle. That's ridiculous and unneccessary. I just want players to give their all. Period.
  12. What do they gain besides making people "feel better?" An extra base? Not making an out?
  13. I said several times that Hill sucked and couldn't understand why people thought he'd be a successful major league pitcher. I was wrong. And I was hoping I would be. Good for Hill. I hope that Soto catches him every time he starts. Abuck must have been busy since Saturday afternoon; but I'm sure he'll let us all know how right he was once he gets a chance.
  14. No. Hendry wasn't smart enough to include a club option in the contract. They may have basically paid him to rehabilitate for a year only to see him walk away. Wasn't smart enough? He did try and get the club option in there, but Miller didn't want it, as he had said from day one that he'd only sign a one year deal. And, while of course he was way off, Hendry thought Miller would be ready by May or June. So it's not like he signed Miller with the plan being for Miller to rehab all year and make a couple starts at the end of the season. I think it's pretty unfair to say that Hendry wasn't smart enough to include a option year, when anyone with a brain knows to try and get it.
  15. He's only walked 3 out of 10 guys... that's an improvement!
  16. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-060911cubssmithdrugs,1,1980251.story?coll=cs-cubs-headlines This happened a few days ago, but I just read about it today.
  17. Lofton, no doubt. I wanted him for this year and I'd like him for next year as well, assuming that Hendry can't pull of a trade for Andruw Jones.
  18. Some of this gets old, really fast. Hendry and Baker get enough bashing in threads that deal with their moves and ideas. Bringing this crap into every [expletive] thread really isn't necessary or productive. [/rant] wow...someone needs to calm down. No, someone needs to stop saying the same things over and over. In every thread.
  19. What's Kent's contract situation like? Is he a FA at the end of the year? I've penciled in Ray Durham for my ideal '07 roster, but I hadn't thought of Kent yet.
  20. On the Cubs.com site, it has JP current obp as .330 for the season. Ichiro's obp is .360. I'm not advocating JP over Ichiro, just pointing out that even tho Ichiro's obp is .30% points higher, that is not a significant difference. A .330 OBP and .360 OBP is significant. Is it? The difference is getting on base one more time every 33 tries.
  21. Can't believe he blew a big chance to make it big. he has only shown very brief flashes of success. I don't think he'll ever get a better shot to make it with this team again. Why wouldn't he get a shot next season? He probably will because it's the Cubs and they're going to have 80 injured pitchers again, but he hasn't done anything to deserve it.
  22. Can't believe he blew a big chance to make it big. he has only shown very brief flashes of success. I don't think he'll ever get a better shot to make it with this team again. Maybe as a reliever, but I don't see him having any success at all as a starter. His numbers out of the pen are pretty good. His numbers as a starter are Glendon-like.
  23. So this is Guzman's 10th start this year, and he's had a total of one successful one.
  24. Pecota projections don't mean much when he hasn't even played since August 26th.
