  1. Good for Ryno!
  2. We're giving up Jacque Jones and Carlos Marmol for a guy who posted an ERA over 5 the three years prior to his last season, which was the utter definition of a career year? No thanks. Surely the market for Jones is better than that.
  3. To assume GM's are that intelligent is a risky proposition. Oh good God, give me a break.
  4. No Cub had an OBP higher than Dunn's last year, and last year was a bad year for Dunn. Who cares about his batting average? I do. OBP is great and all, but a high OBP doesn't excuse a piss poor batting average. I love guys who can get on base in general, but I also love guys who can hit their way on. A walk is nowhere near as valuable as a hit can be. Again... few singles + lots of XBH + lots of walks > lots of singles + few XBH + few walks Well, yeah. But also... lots of hits + few walks > few hits + lots of walks.

  6. I don't think any team needs a .230 hitter. Dunn's numbers have gone down each of the last three years. He's not that good of a player. That's just crazy talk. Why?
  7. Isn't he close to signing an extension with Arizona? I thought I read that somewhere.
  8. He hit second in 110 of the 116 games he started last year, and it worked out pretty well for him and the Dodgers.
  9. This is outstanding news. Pie can fill in for Lofton when he's hurt. That way he gets his feet wet in the big leagues, yet isn't relied upon. I've wanted Lofton back for the past couple years now. Please, please, please let this work out.
  10. What the hell is a Mizzou Valley?
  11. A 40 year old whiner who wasn't that good last year and is now coming off of Tommy John surgery? No thanks.
  12. I always think it's a matter if a guy is "our prick" or someone else's. I watch performance and could not care any less how a player is with the press. I would have a very hard time rooting for Barry Bonds. I don't want him on the Cubs. It's a big risk anyways, considering his health and age.
  13. There's no way that I would want a prick like Bonds on the Cubs.
  14. hahahahaha Drunken posting is the best.
  15. Definitely. I bought the original Nintendo for 60 bucks a couple months ago.
  16. Lugo is the only decent SS available, and look at the difference in Lugo and Izturis. If it's Lugo for CF, then I don't want him, but if we can bump Izturis out and get Lugo at short, I'm allllll for it. All things equal, I'd definitely prefer Lugo to Izturis, but Lugo is going to be way overpaid. And you can't just dismiss his absolutely horrible performance in the NL last year (.219/.278/.267/.545 in 49 games). If we can dump Izturis and convince some other team to pay all of his salary, then I might jump on the Lugo bandwagon, but I just don't see that happening.
  17. Why is everyone so high on Lugo? He's not that good of a player.
  18. That's lame.
  19. go away Please? Isn't it time this guy was banned. He's done nothing but troll since the first day he posted on here. Seriously. And Pujols is turning into a real a-hole. In fact, several of the guys in my office (huge Cards fans) were saying today how much of an a-hole he is. Obviously all Cards fans love him cause he's so good, but he's starting to really rub some of his fan base the wrong way.
  20. There are many better uses of a roster spot than Randall Simon. If you're lucky enough to have the top 5 non-starters in all of baseball, yeah. Simon would be a solid bench option. Are there better? Yeah. Will we find 5 better guys to fill our bench with? Highly unlikely. A .283/.320/.422 career line isn't exactly what I want out of a bench player that can only play first base. I could accept that from a guy that can adequately play a few different positions, but not a guy that can just play 1B. Just about any team should be able to do better than that. A team with the financial resources of the Cubs should definitely be able to top that. If you're looking at career numbers, a lefty with a .283 career average with some pop is a great option to have off the bench, regardless of what positions he can play.
  21. Poor guy. I don't know why, but I can't help but feel sorry for him.
