  1. Douglass was Michael Vick before Michael Vick ws (in the sense of being a running quarterback, not in the dog-fighting sense :D ). If I remember correctly he tried to become a pitcher in the White Sox organization after his football career fizzled. Yes he was but not nearly as athletic and Douglass threw like me! Both were left handed as well.
  2. Now it gives the Dust man a chance to play Corey again.
  3. I knew when they hired Bazasi (sp) it would be a good thing for us Cub fans.
  4. Looks like he can bunt a lot more now!
  5. If there's one thing LA needs it's more corner OFs. That's why they offer little more than a b-level prospect, knowing they would pull him back instead. If they actually got Dunn for a b-level prospect, then it was well worth it. You don't have to have good intentions of making a fair trade when you put a waiver claim on a guy. No kidding. I can't think of a team in MLB that wouldn't be able to find a spot for Adam Dunn if they got "stuck" with him on a waiver claim. I'd do it just for the comp picks.
  6. Is Cuban married and if so how strong is that marriage? :starwars:
  7. That young man needs a little more milk and cheese.
  8. If there's one thing LA needs it's more corner OFs. Dunn and Manny would make fly balls in LA just so much more fun to watch though.
  9. Whatever is necessary, sir. You're not going to do that "I'm a hot 18 year old co-ed" thing again like you did Vitters, are you?
  10. He's taking summer school classes at Vandy. Stupid kid. What the heck is a degree from Vandy going to get you! Thanks.
  11. Raisin, have you recruited that Gray kid to sign the dotted line yet?
  12. So you're saying this won't be a Winn Winn situation? They signed Johnson to a 2 year deal? I thought he was a waiver pick up. He's still arb eligible next season. I thought he had more time in w/the Jays, thanks SSR.
  13. So you're saying this won't be a Winn Winn situation? They signed Johnson to a 2 year deal? I thought he was a waiver pick up.
  14. they'd do it to get out of randy winn's contract for next year. it's not about acquiring anything good, it's about shedding payroll. anyways, if i'm the cubs i'd just dfa ward and call up hoffpauir. that solves our problem. That seems to make sense since they both play the same postions and Hoff is in a good groove right now. Winn can play CF/LF/RF as well, correct? That's the only advantage I can see in getting him over making your move.
  15. Generally speaking, I'd prefer a manager talk to the player. But all Lou did was say Kosuke needs to start hitting, and that's true. It's not like Kosuke is injured and Lou is saying he thinks he's faking, or that Lou is saying Fukudome isn't trying. He's saying he should be hitting better. I don't have a problem with that. I don't have a big problem w/what Lou said but I still prefer he deal w/it behind closed doors. I think he could have said we need more offensive production out of a player or 2 and not single the guy out.
  16. This looks fine but it depends on the minor leaguer. If the Giants are looking to just get out of a contract than it probably will be a better deal for the Cubs but if the money is not the main factor than this might cost a pretty good minor leaguer that could have an impact in September or the next couple of years.
  17. How many times have you encountered his niceness? Heh. Just twice. Have you ever met Ramius General?
  18. I would have preferred that Lou kept this out of the press, unless he has already talked to Kouske a few times and feels this might give him a jolt.
  19. She is able to. She just refuses to. She has invoked Loria's name on multiple occasions in the Cuban discussion, and, to my knowledge, has never even attempted to explain the comparison. Any time she is ever asked to explain, she talks about walking on egg shells, not getting respect, being unfairly criticized, or just being an insider who can't divulge anymore information. She expects everybody to accept what she has to say as gospel, but is unwilling to explain or defend her positions. The question remains, how are Cuban and Loria the same? Again...I have no problem with posters asking that, none at all. It's the remarks about her or what she'd say. If she doesn't answer and does a post and run grill her on that or maybe, just possibly she isn't tied to her computer all day and can give constant feedback. I agree the Loria/Cuban tie in thing made no sense and she should explain that once she's back on.
  20. Aren't we allowed to criticise and challenge her opinions, especially when they're completely ridiculous? No one has violated board rules here. It's a fine line between "criticizing and challenging opinions" and "mocking opinions". While neither are violating rules, nobody should complain about the reactions they get when they do it. Cuse was trying to defuse a bomb before it explodes, instead of trying to clean up the mess afterwards. The poster randomly compared Cuban to Loria without defending or explaining why, and has provided absolutely zero reasoning behind the dislike of Cuban. But more importantly, why shouldn't people complain about the reactions they get when they criticize and challenge opinions? It's not the complaining but the assuming what Red would say stuff. Go ahead and argue what she wrote fine, but....don't say "she doesn't care" "She'll say this" or the like. IMO, she should be able to answer a question for herself and not have a poster make an answer for her.
  21. I thought Johnson was a little earlier than Ruth? Peakwise that is.
  22. Come on guys...please lay off Red here. She said she didn't like owners like Cuban and she's allowed to have her own opinion.
  23. Zambrano could hit 400 with his limited plate appearances. What is the record for highest batting average by a pitcher with a least 60 AB's? walter johnson hit .433 in 1925 Thanks David and Jersey....433? Wow, Walter might have been able to be Ruth before Ruth....maybe a Cobb perhaps?
  24. What other pitcher would you do that with lefty? It's not a bad idea and if it works out for Guzman and the Cubs could afford to do this by waiting for him to pitch 2 to 3 innings every 5th day it could work. What happens if say....he's matched up with Lilly and Lilly goes 7 and Marmol goes 8 and Wood 9. Do you pitch Guz w/another starter or do you wait for Lilly's next start?
