  1. Sori 225/279 slug 319 Lee 226/289 slug 298 Ramirez 196/308 slug 464 Edmonds 277/365 slug 523 One has been there and did well while the others have struggled in post season play. Again, does this mean Edmonds will lead them to victory because of these numbers...maybe, maybe not. But, He may be a calming influence on these players and add a tip or two that they may be able to implement have have a little more success. Not that any of this matters, but what were those numbers before last year's playoffs? Sorry, instead of picking a choosing what stats to show I showed his career ones.

If they do well, Edmonds gets credit, if they don't, it's their own fault. I would say it's highly highly doubtful Edmonds calming influence or secret tips that no other Cubs employee would be able to provide are going to make a lick of difference. And since you are in the Cubs dugout I'm sure you pretty much know everything that is said as well. It's just amazes me that you don't think there is a mental aspect to the game.
  3. That's what I'd do. This is why it's dumb that Hart isn't stretched out and starting for Iowa. You'd think that since the Cubs got rid of Eyre they would go the Atkins route to stay healthy and lean.

  5. As am I. I don't think it's an absolute by any means but depending on the guy and team I think it does have an impact from time to time.
  6. i don't see how that's possible. hopefully they just do better because they will have more experience (if, in fact, they were pressing in '07). Depending on the players, it sometimes is nice being with a guy that's been there. I'm not saying all the time but sometimes a player just helps guys relax and says something that they understand or pertains to them that a coach/manager can't or doesn't say.
  7. Kind of like when one of your buddies asks you to play for his softball team, eh?
  8. To get full justice going through Arizona and then Florida would help getting over the past couple of playoffs the Cubs were in.
  9. IMO, some of the Cub hitters seemed to press last year in the playoffs and I think that Edmonds will help them relax this time around.
  10. You know baseball history pretty well OMC....who was the first player (One that made it a habit) to do this? I've seen so much old footage of ballplayers and the earliest that I've ever seen someone do that is with Eddie Murray: http://img02.picoodle.com/img/img02/4/2/6/f_eddiemurraym_545e742.gif Cool footage OMC...thanks! Didn't Reggie Jackson do it as well?
  11. I miss listening to Don Cherry! God, he's funny as heck without meaning to be.

  13. I'm not sure how they calculate Georgia's SoS, but it looks as if the non-D1 opponent isn't even factored in, which should lower theirs. The Pac-10 teams are playing some ridiculous schedules this year, though. It's funny how a team can play Blindnun U and not be punished for it. No way is there schedule harder than USC's. The SEC has this down to a science. they play at arizona state and then their regular rivalry of georgia tech. that is not a cupcake out of conference schedule. and the SEC is deeper in terms of top 20 teams than the pac 10. I didn't say it was a cakewalk but I did say that the SEC knows their way around the SOS loopholes. The Top 20 is a vote of reputation and means little on what team is better than another. There are also 12 teams in the SEC and 10 in the PAC 10 so yeah, their percentage of chance of one being in the Top 20/25 is better than the PAC 10. It's funny how people never seem to notice this in football but point it out quite quickly when it comes to basketball. that's because the big east has 74 teams in basketball. BE 16 teams SEC/ACC/Big12/12 Teams Big 10/11 Teams, PAC 10/ 10 Teams basketball BE 8 teams SEC/ACC/Big 12/12 Teams Big 10/11 Teams PAC 10/10 Teams football.
  14. Penn State tried to beat that, as their original OOC was Coastal Carolina, Syracuse, Temple and someone like LA Tech. They swapped that last game for Oregon St., but it's still a total joke. A year or two ago their OOC had 3 of the bottom 5 teams in 1-A from the previous year i blame syracuse for being a joke. Blame Robinson for not knowing what direction he wants to go in. Plus, we've had way too many injuries for the lack of talent we have.

  17. Fukudome will pick up Soriano and drive in a run or two!
  18. Is it really that hard to understand why it's legal? how about enlightening us, oh wise one? When you step to third you're attempting at the runner on third, even if you don't throw the ball. After that you're no longer bound by those balk rules because you're not on the rubber. It's the same reason that stepping off and flashing your arm to the runner at first isn't a balk. I got into a little debate regarding that w/an ump. Once you step off, you're an infielder and the rules change regarding an overthrow.
  19. Kick back and live the life off the millions you make in endorsements. well, there's that, but he's obviously going pro after this showing, right? Or take advantage of the 45 condoms each Olympian is averaging this year. he's the male equivalent of Oprah -- someone somebody would only hook up with just to say they did. he's one ugly bastard Except he's a world class athlete and not a tub of lard. I would have used Mick Jagger as an example.
  20. Now that you guys see who the Reds might have recieved in the trade, do you think those players are better than the comp picks they could have recieved?
  21. I would not be opposed to IBB's in key situations, although I've noticed Dusty and Lou have been opposed to that kind of thinking. It's partially why Pudge slaughtered us in the NLCS. I'd pitch Pudge more out of the zone though. Jones has a good idea of the strike zone and is a heck of a student of the game. A friend of mine was talking to him before a game and Chipper told him exactly what the opposing pitcher was going to throw in 3 or 4 different situations and was 100% correct as the game unfolded.
  22. Man David, you're really peeved.
  23. It gave Fergie a Cy Young over Seaver and that made me happy as all heck to throw that in a Met fans face!
  24. I respect that your aversion to it is more about injury, and I feel ya there. But players diving for moving objects all the time in the outfield...and their hand gets to that spot far faster than their feet would have gotten to that spot. And that object is moving...in theory it should be easier to dive for a stationary object. Interesting example, I never thought of that one.
