  1. ANY QB gets rattled when he gets hit repeatedly, some to lesser extents This is why no matter who you are, you need a good offensive line. Especially a Brady/Payton type who can't move. Peyton can't run, but he's very good at moving around the pocket and avoiding tacklers. He's fine doing once in a while but game after game pounding, he'd get killed. And OMC, it is funny how that turned out and if Archie was on the Dolphins for those years instead of Greise we'd be talking about him in the Hall and not Griese.
  2. I don't either. I think he's just trying to get as much cash as he can from Michigan/OSU and using Penn St as leverage. Michigan is going to have to beat the Escalade and jobs for 3 members of his family.
  3. Haven't heard that name in awhile. He graced us with his presence here early on. He still owns the NSBB record for distance in the Mod troll toss. Was hoggy actually a man? I thought I read he was half beast half human female.
  4. No rickrolls. Please read the board's guidelines -- linked in my sig. Thank you. It wasn't a rickroll, and you should lighten up. Listen, I'm not saying the mods can't be criticized. But please be more polite in how you do it when you disagree with something. Normally I'd agree, but that was pretty obviously going to be a joke link. I mean, at least to my knowledge, ESPN 1000 doesn't cover this site. I'm sure Banedon knew it was a joke but he was just letting the poster know the guidelines. The comment back is the main issue, just treat Posters/Mods with respect and things will flow nicely.
  5. As soon as you pony up for a better monitor, Cuse! Ha....I want those smilies to jump out at me! I have a 1680x1050, is that around average?
  6. Is anyone arguing otherwise? I'm just saying that Bob Dernier isn't exactly the best example of a guy that gets on base. Oh I agree from his career numbers and imo his peak was a very small window. What I am saying is that he did get on base in 84 and that particular year a lot of Cub fans will remember forever.
  7. With all the great teams Joe has had, he's never developed a really good QB. kerry collins was a very good college and was okay in the nfl. but not a really good nfl quarterback, obviously. With all the recruits he has had, he has had to have fallen into the blind squirrel find nut theory. He's probably one of the best recruiters in college football history for a LB though.
  8. Man, being on win cruise control is just plan strange. I've never had a professional team that I liked win like this and the only one that even comes close is the Vikings from the 70's. Thank you Detroit.

  10. I just simply asked what his OBP was. Did he have a career year, maybe, but it proves that if you have a guy that gets on base it certainly does help you score runs. The Cubs caught lightning in a bottle that year and I wouldn't plan on that happening either but this is why you have scouts and hopefully they see something that the team that has the player didn't or see that the player has figured out some things regarding being a better hitter.
  11. I'm pretty happy with our recruiting class as long as they all do officially sign and it will be the best since Robinson has been here.
  12. Bob Dernier worked the count? The same Bob Dernier with a career .318 OBP? He may have known his job was to get on base, but he sure didn't do it well. What was his OBP the year the Cubs did well?

  14. Yeah, Belichick was already a good ways up the tunnel before the final snap was made. That's what people were upset about it. And yup, it's just another thing to add on the long list of Belichick's classless behavior. It just makes it even harder for people who aren't fans of the Patriots to root for them in any game. Exactly, it doesn't change my opinion at all of the man - I've considered him classless for quite some time now. What it should do (but I doubt it will), is once and for all end this ridiculous crap about the Patriots being a "classy and professional" organization. The media obsesses over how "unselfish, professional and utterly classy" the Pats are and this just further proves how much of a crock that is. I've always thought of Belichek as classless too, but to me that just looked like a bunch of people thought the game was over when it wasn't. It's not like Belichek was the only one to come out. There was obviously a mistake. I think it's a bit of an overreaction to just heap all the blame for it on him. Someone let the clock go down to 0:00 when it shouldn't have. I've got no problem with Belichick running out on the field to shake hands. Coughlin and the Giants did too. Problem is, the head referee Mike Carey went to the coaches and told them the game wasn't over and to get back to the sideline. Coughlin did and Belichick didn't. There was confusion at first, but once it was sorted out Belichick should have stayed on the field for one more play. The fact that he didn't shows how little respect he has for other teams. Maybe Bill knew there is a rule that says "If you don't play the whole game and leave before the clock hits zero, you can protest the game and you go back to the 2 minute warning".
  15. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/baseball/bal-bedard204,0,7271042.story If the O's get a nice haul for Roberts from the Cubs, I'd say MacPhail has done a pretty nice job unloading those two players.
  16. So it'll take another month? This week. I can feel it! I picture you rocking back and forth when you wrote that and your hands shaking ever so slightly while you typed this. I think Tim needs to put up a thread hot line for those of us that can't stop thinking this trade will happen. It seems half the people are like this: :rules: And the other half like this :read: Or sometimes the same person, but different times. But the question is whether we eventually look like this:  or this: :clapping: or this: :banghead: Aye captain, the range is far and wide. :dizzy:

I think Tim needs to put up a thread hot line for those of us that can't stop thinking this trade will happen. Pretty much. The nice nurse let me out of my straight jacket for few minutes to type that message. Does she give you an Old Fashioned instead of meds? I wonder if Hendry is waiting for this to happen or be completely off before he makes his next move? I just don't like being involved in a deal with PA when it involves making other moves that may have to follow it.
  18. Lilly or Hill would have to play point imo. I see Z as a Barkley type player.

  20. I root for the TEAM more than individual players. Whoever will help the TEAM win the World Series is fine by me (I'm talking about the concept, not Barroids specifically). A century is WAY too long between championships. Beggars can't be choosers. I think most fans would care less if there are a few unlikeable players on the team when they finally win a title. i think everyone has their line for how "unlikeable" a guy can be before they don't want him on their team. i happen to draw the line before i get to barry bonds. he's a great player, but he's a complete dick, and i would have a hard time rooting for him. I'd have a hard time rooting for him personally too. What I meant is that, if a player helps the Cubs win, one can be happy with the outcome even if they don't care for the specific player. Bonds being Bonds is one thing but the circus he would bring with him imo wouldn't be conducive in helping this team win. I just think the distractions/salary/injury risk/possible prison would outweigh the positives.
  21. Welcome to the forum! Or should I say, thee thread of all threads.
  22. Mark Prior was the only pitcher to win a game that I went too. I was 0-3 until then. Mark, we'll always have Toronto.
  23. He definitely couldn't have been confused. As he walked out to shake Coughlin's hand, Mike Carey stood in front of him - stopping him - and told him the game wasn't over yet. At that point, Belichick either said screw you to Carey or just ignored him. Either way it shows a lack of class. There's no excuse for the Pats to not show a little respect (for the first time ever) and stay on the field for one more second. He had to go back to the locker room and destroy the tapes of the Giants. Coughlin outsmarted him and switched them with the Marx Brothers and 3 Stooges football videos.
  24. Whoa whoa whoa, let's get one thing straight. Cedeno partied, no one's denying that. Farnsworth partied on an epic scale. I'm talking about having it get to the point where every bartender, waitress, and barfly in Wrigleyville had a crazy story about Farnsworth. Cedeno's nowhere near that point yet. Didn't say he was in Fanrsworth league , just the same style of partying around town that gets noticed quickly. I'm sure there's guys that party a ton but tend to do it quietly and come away unnoticed. http://tastybooze.com/2007/04/the-origin-of-boggs/ Maybe Lou is talking about a combo of things. The drinking and his work ethic.
