  1. The optimist in me hopes you are right, but the realist in me says the deal is for just Roberts or Roberts and Payton. Maybe...Hendry does pull a rabbit out of his hat once in a while when it comes to getting a team to add a prospect. Granted, usually it's a pitcher but I'd love to see a young SS guy thrown in there....if the O's have one.
  2. Probably too fat and lazy to bend over and pull his pant legs down. By the way, he does look pretty good in that picture.
  3. I would be ecstatic. That's like Barrett when he was hitting, plus Soto's not an idiot on the basepaths, and can actually play some D. Of course the basepaths shake when he runs but yeah, I agree with you. I'm a little worried he's going to struggle offensively but as long a he stays focused and plays good D, he'll be ok and get back into the groove hitting wise. My guess for him is a 240/320 line with 14 HR's. Unless, he can go the other way then he'll be fine and put up pretty good numbers.
  4. It's possible that those are the Cubs guys that are moving but perhaps Hendry is looking at one of the O's prospects and that's what's taking up the time. Also, do the O's have a decent young SS in their system that is 2 or 3 years away from the Bigs?
  5. If he does that all year I think we'd all be quite happy! Hey Bruce, how did Theriot look defensively and offensively so far this spring?
  6. Harry Potter.
  7. I think that they said that because they are recognizable name players to the average fan.
  8. The fact that Pierre is now playing left field is hilarious. I think that might be one of the 5 worst contracts of all time. I thought it was glorious.
  9. I despise Doug Gottleib. Who did he blackmail to get this job?
  10. Maybe he's really Pinky?
  11. yes, he was at SS 2B was a circle jerk of suck that year (Mike Tyson, Pat Tabler, Steve Dillard, and a couple of other schmoes) I always thought Tabler was going to be a very good player. he had some pretty solid seasons with Cleveland He played 1st for them, correct?

  13. That's a very interesting post. Hitting is not something you can just turn on. There may be hitches or faults in a swing that isn't realized and Lou seems to be on top of that along with knowing full well of working the pitch count. I'm not particularly worried about Lee but if Lou sees something and helps Lee correct it now, I'm all for it.
  14. The Giants have been lost for awhile now. I'm surprised Sabean still has a job.
  15. So they'll get the first groundball out even sooner? Ryan "6-3" Theriot has a nice ring to it I was thinking "Client 6-3".
  16. I'll be happy if he hits at a 270/350 clip.
  17. 18 minutes until the elimination game and I actually get to see it! GO CUSE!
  18. I would think they'd be there all the time. I'm curious as to why the Cubs would have multiple scouts there, who else are they looking at or are they just verifying what they already know about Roberts? I wonder if they are still worried about the steroid thing and want to make sure they are getting the real thing.
  19. Those were my words, sorry about the confusion. From what I gathered, most of the players are available.
  20. Jason Stark said on Mike and Mike this morning that the Giants are having a senior citizen discount sale for their players this spring. Do they have anyone that would help the Cubs?
  21. Does Craig have a shot at making the bigs because if he doesn't, I'm putting Fox there for 50 or so games. From consensus projections at BCB Craig is projected at 329/421/750 while Fox is 314/429/743. Basically a push. And from The Baseball Cube Jake Fox has exactly 1 game at 3B in his minor league career. This sounds like it makes as much sense as the year they sent Craig back to Daytona to learn catcher. I think it's easier to teach a player to play third than catch. Also, if third is the only position Craig plays than he has to hope for an injury to Ramirez or he gets traded sometime if he ever wants to play there. Thanks for posting his numbers and I hope they both hit that well or better this year.
  22. Well, in their defense, he did multiply loaves and fishes. One doesn't drink red with seafood. That's good. What was he thinking?
  23. Why, we still control our own destiny. With a couple of BE wins that would propel them into the mix and above possibly. This is also depending how the other tournaments do this weekend. If we have a Florida and Missouri win their tournaments, this is going to be very tough even with a couple of wins. I, for one, still expect Syracuse to make the tournament. Perhaps because I expect them to top Villanova tomorrow. I never know what to expect when we play Nova. When we had Warrick, it was no problem because of matchups, but since then it's been mostly going their way. I think this team has done quite well for losing 3 starters.

  25. Good move, some bonehead team will give up a decent prospect for him if he puts up even average numbers by the deadline.
