  1. The O's have struggled to sign free agents and just lost their closer. Is it possible to throw a bunch of prospects to them for Tejada? I would consider that an impact bat.
  2. No...he would play Perez at SS instead.
  3. They can platoon in left while Burnitz mans right! :D
  4. I'm just worried that players that had a decrease in power in 2005 like Huff may have had them for a reason. I like to see the Cubs get Lugo do you think that the Cubs could out bid Atlanta player wise?
  5. All of your game predictions are right, but I believe it is the top 4 teams in the BCS who are guaranteed BCS bids. Ohio State should be #4 on Monday, and the Irish will get an at-large bid. Top 6 is only a guarantee for ND. Therefore ND and OSU are in all likelihood guaranteed a spot. Also read today that the Fiesta Bowl is offering the Orange Bowl 2 million to pass on PSU and pick OSU, so the the Fiesta can have a ND/PSU match-up. That was before the VT loss so who knows what will happen now. That's not true. Utah was a top 6 last year and they were guaranteed a spot.
  6. I'm not sure that Furcal was on the Dodgers radar for that long but they came in at the last minute and possibly signed him. I think that Hendry has the funds and the ability to do the same thing for any free agent or player that he wants to trade for.
  7. man the insanity just doesn't stop in LA. What's next....sign Kobe Bryant to play LF? I like Billy Mueller a lot...but as a first baseman? Hmmm..... Oh yeah, anyone know what they plan on doing with Izturis? I'm thinking that the Dodgers are suffering from a severe case of Izturis which is overpaying for players without a plan.
  8. That's funny because I thought it was overpaying for Zito. I would rather have Williams and Hill on the Cubs then a guy that is going to be a free agent next year.
  9. You have to be a member bgbird, do you have the numbers?
  10. If this trade is true I wonder if it means that the Dodgers signed or are going to sign Furcal.
  11. What if that move was combined with acquiring Milton Bradley? Then, Bradley-CF Murton-LF Lee-1B Ramirez-3B Soriano-2B Barrett-C Mench-RF Cedeno-SS That's a very right handed lineup hoops and with Baker around I see Mabry taking Murtons spot. Also, I would like to have a lefty hitter off the bench that could play all 3 OF spots.....like a Burnitz.
  12. If Hendry says "I think we'll win 95 games" and the Cubs do what they usually do he will be canned. If he stays safe with comments like that he'll stay around forever as long as the Cubs do the 500 thing as gooney pointed out.
  13. That's good because I think Texas would be a better trading partner than the Yanks would be regarding some young bullpen arms.
  14. The sad thing is this is the type of analysis the Cubs organization relies upon. Completely unproven "seems to" "usually" "always" statements with no actual facts to back them up can't tell you anything about your ballclub. Corey had 8 at bats with the bases loaded last year. Burnitz, Neifi, Barrett and Ramirez all had more. And others had more total plate appearances with the bases loaded. JB hit .176/.250/.353 with the bases loaded in twice the number of opportunities. Nomar actually had similar number of chances to Corey, and hit worse, with a line of .000/.000/.000. Perception is a killer when you don't have the willingness or ability to confirm your suspicions with a little fact checking. Facts and Baker do not go together. Even if he were shown the right facts he would find a way to deny them because of his stupid pride. I hope the Cubs get off to a slow start and they can this guy.
  15. In a Dusty-less world I would agree with you 100%. Unfortunately, your scenario will lead to Neifi batting lead-off. How sad is it that I feel like our GM can't make the "right" move because we have a manager that is touched in the head (and a GM that won't fire him)? Sad and pathetic. Bakers refusal to realize and accept a better idea annoys me more than anything. IMO, managers that can adapt and grow as managers are the ones that last and are more successful not ones that are stubburn and refuse to admit any mistakes.
  16. Van Buran has more value than Macias and if Macias is still on the roster for opening day I have no idea what Hendry sees as value.
  17. I just hope that Hendry doesn't up the ante for Furcal. Let the Dodgers sign Furcal and trade for Bradley and bat Walker leadoff with Bradley second. Then overpay prospect wise for Abreu or Dunn.
  18. That is why I respect Leinart so much. He chose to stay even though he could have left and instantly been rich, and in the process risked injuries or having a bad year (Although he does have a nice insurance policy, just in case he gets hurt.) Ihope next year I have the same respect for Quinn. However if he changes his mind and decides to go, I can't blame him one bit. I could not imagine having a decision like that to make. I have faith in Brady to stick to his guns and make the decision to stay at ND. He clearly wants to win a national title, and whether he admits it or not, probably also wants a Heisman, and I think he's willing to stay that last year to get it. I also think that, like Leinart, Quinn loves the college life too much to cut it a year short. I hope I'm not eating my words a couple of months from now, but I'm still about 90 percent sure that he's staying. I'm sure the Irish will be thrilled to be able to hold for him for another year. The Syracuse kids haven't complined about holding all year and the whole defensive line was amazed on how much the ND offensive line got away with.
  19. I don't want Brady Anderson....I mean Steve Finley unless it's a top prospect.
  20. Mr. Hendry has to have some master plan going on I hope. And yes, the server has had problems.
  21. I would rather have Walker be dealt to LA for Bradley than to have him go to Texas for Soriano.
  22. Am glad that Jim has put his time elsewhere. I am too as it looks as it looks this has gotten a little out of hand. I guess it pays to be the only impact OF out there in the free agent market.
