  1. Dusty actually said that? I'm impressed Until of course Neifi got up there and hit left-handed... BRILLIANT!! That's because Baker was nervous that Oswalt might throw left handed and he was prepared by throwing the switch hitting guru Perez in there. You never know when a pitcher might decide that to switch what arm he uses to pitch with. That Dusty is one deep thinker.
  2. I'm positive double switch Baker is coming back. With Hendry and Baker I can just relax and laugh at this team and put no emotion into it because I'm sick of banging my head against the wall.
  3. But at least he would make the pitchers win 20 games in a row for 4 or 5 seasons in a row! What is he doing right now?
  4. And next year. Why not make it a perefect trifecta and extend the great Dusty Baker?
  5. Thanks, I didn't know what IsoD was! Makes much more sense now.[/i] Me either, thanks Rocket.
  6. Maybe Dusty thought he could double switch Perez and Walker at a really key time and win the game because of his really awesome move. God forbid you have Walker hitting in front of 3 guys that went 8-12. Walker has to be hurt because there is no reason for this type of move unless the Cubs are trying for the #1 pick in next Junes draft. They are in the 4 slot right now.
  7. When I see how much money the medium market D-Backs are willing to eat for an unproductive player, I can't figure out why big market Hendry won't do the same with the equally unproductive Glendon Rusch, who has one less year and significantly less money owed to him than Ortiz. Must be that lefty thing - different topic for a different day I guess. I don't think Hendry would admit he made a mistake. Also, I think the fact that Wood and Prior might not come back could have something to do with it. What I don't understand about this line of reasoning is that to me it would seem to be worse to be reminded you made a mistake every time Dusty rolls him out there than to admit you made a mistake, correct it, and not have to think about that particular mistake ever again. Yes UBlink common sense would say that but since when is that something Hendry has used lately?
  8. I hope Dusty is using them while he's in a booth somewhere,
  9. Only Baker would sit a 3 hitter for a 200 hitter 2 games in a row. I'm hoping this is a showcase for a trade or this guy has more issues than I thought.
  10. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse.....I really hope Hendry doesn't think this would be the move that puts the Cubs into contention.
  11. Since the Cubs didn't have many picks I don't have a problem with it unless it doesn't work out and then I'll use hindsight to complain about it.
  12. You can't spell Cuban without C-u-b......it's a match made in heaven.
  13. That may be crazy enough to work.
  14. Terrible stadium beautiful state. I've always wanted to go there.
  15. So Greg was called up to a real MLB team, eh? I'm worried Maddux has ran out of gas and thanks to Rusch he doesn't get that extra day that he needs IMO.
  16. Huh? Marmol threw 4 pitches yesterday (4-seamer, 2-seamer, breaking ball, changeup). I like a 10 pitch or less inning but 4 pitches in 6 innings is pretty good! :D Maybe he can teach Woody the value of a changeup.

  18. Heck I remember when 3 Finger Brown had 4 fingers.
  19. I really like Murton and I want to see him succeed, but I would take issue with the assertion that Murton has demonstrated an ability to get hits under pressure. He's driven in 17.4% of the runners on base when he bats compared to the team average of 19.4%. Some of his splits..... 04/03 - 06/11 AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS Murton 194 29 54 7 1 4 75 20 19 30 0.278 0.347 0.387 0.734 Nobody on base 122 3 41 5 0 3 54 3 11 18 0.336 0.391 0.451 0.842 Runners on 72 26 13 2 1 1 20 17 8 12 0.181 0.277 0.278 0.555 Scoring position 47 19 10 2 1 1 17 17 7 7 0.213 0.321 0.362 0.683 Scor pos / 2 outs 23 6 5 0 0 1 8 8 4 3 0.217 0.333 0.348 0.681 I wonder if his average goes down because the infielders go to DP depth with a man on first?
  20. The ironic part of the home run is it was after a 2 out walk.
  21. This isn't another rightfieldsucks song is it? He always comes out with some classics.
  22. I think that Baker/Hendry both wanted Pierre and are in agreement of him being a good lead off hitter.
  23. Yeah... that's definitely the answer. 05/31 - 06/10 AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS Cedeno 36 4 10 0 1 0 12 2 1 6 0.278 0.297 0.333 0.631 Murton 32 3 9 1 0 0 10 0 1 5 0.281 0.303 0.313 0.616 Pierre 43 5 10 2 0 0 12 1 3 2 0.233 0.313 0.279 0.592 The last 10 days, there just ain't a whole lot to chose from. Maybe Billy Barty is available to lead off?
  24. In regards to 2003/2004 and 2005, if Clines is to blame for screwing Patterson up in 2005, then is the reason for his success in 2003 and to a lesser extent 2004 attributed to his work with Gary Matthews? Not every coach can help every player. Some pitchers hated Mazzone when he was in Atlanta. IMO the best coach is the one that gets the most ability out of each player and doesn't ram the same techniques down every players throat.
  25. Define play. Standing on the field waiting for the bounces to go your way. Awesome. That was pretty good. Maybe it can be the Cubs slogan in 2007.
