  1. Actually, there are stories out there about how his parents freaked out about how much he was throwing at the young age of 13 and took over his workout and training regimen. So, his mom (and dad) might have saved him. :P You'll shoot your arm out...you'll shoot your arm out! You have to win those all important Little League games.
  2. They are former players of mine from High School s65cf. I always call them my kids. Very cool. You must have a bunch of kids to follow, I would think. That has to be gratifying to you. 8) It's been absolutely wonderful and thanks to all that helped me track these guys!
  3. Is there a rule against placing a player on the DL who isn't hurt? Don't know how anyone could prove they are not hurt, but just wondering. I do believe there is a rule against putting a player on the DL who isn't hurt, and there's no way to disprove a back injury. You Teamsters sure know that rule! The teamsters contract, to this very day, contains a clause that requires a driver to be at work 15 minutes prior to his listed starting time. This was put into effect to allow for feeding the horses. Real boy scouts them teamsters, no? I'm a retired teamster myself and I know of which you speak.
  4. He was big, but he became colossal. http://www.homeruncards.com/imagesrc/mcgwire87tp.jpghttp://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/Headline_Archives/MM_MaY_2.15.jpg I don't want to know where you got that second picture. I don't think Thomas juiced, at least steroid wise. This is what the majority of players get for letting this go on for so long. I've always wanted that piece of gum that they sold on e-bay from Gonzalez (Arizona) tested for steroids. I wish they had a test that could do that.

  6. Is there a limit to how many players they can have on the 60 day DL?
  7. Pray for a lot of rainouts and off days.
  8. So they should change the name from Wrigley to Misery Stadium then?
  9. Maybe that extra 75 pounds did something to his back? I hope they hook him up with a manzere when he comes off the DL.
  10. Is there a 4 day DL he can go on then?
  11. No it isn't. We had a good team in '84 !! Yes we did but isn't it just like the Cubs to be a day late and a dollar short?
  12. Dusty will still be managing then? Ughh And beyond. The day the Cubs extend Dusty's contract will be rubber glove give-a-way at Wrigley. The trainer will do his thing to each fan that day and then the Cubs will fire him the next day as it's his fault they had so many injuries. Somebody has to be made responsible for this mess.
  13. You learn form not playing and watching BbB. That's why so many people that sit in their chairs and watch the game are better players than the ones out there. I bet you could grab a 20 year season ticket holder and put him out there and he'd be a 30 HR 330/440 type hitter. Ask Dusty if you don't believe I'm right. As for the point of this thread, I'm rooting for that #1 pick but I'm sure Baker will with one week remaining in the season play those kids that no one has a book on and the Cubs will go 5-1 and blow any chance they have to get that pick.
  14. I wonder if it's a case of over thinking? You put Remmy in against a lefty and hope that the other manager will put a righty to hit against him.
  15. You truely are a Cub fan NCCF thinking common sense and good baseball decisions should be made while they seldom are. Keep dreaming my friend.
  16. This is just like replaying the 84 Series that should have been.
  17. Just imagine if his mother didn't try to keep that bb gun away from him that one Christmas? He'd a shot his eye out and never have been the pitcher he is.
  18. They are former players of mine from High School s65cf. I always call them my kids.
  19. Wow...this is too good to be true. Pick up Ortiz and then trade for Weaver.
  20. Yeah it figures you would poop on my parade with that. If Andy ever does make the White Sox I'll be the most conflicted person on this board. Just talk to him about the benefits of holding out for big dough. ;) Mmmm...big pizza's....arghhhh.... He just signed and so did my other kid with the Red Sox. I don't know for how much yet. How much do 40 and 43rd round kids usually get?

  22. I had 2 kids signed and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good message boards out there involving the White Sox and Red Sox?
  23. I bet Dal that the Cubs would start Perez 140 times this year. I think I'm going to lose but I think Neifi will be close to 140 played though. Hey Cuse, I believe the bet was barring injuries Perez wouldn't play in 140 games. I still think had Lee not gotten hurt, he wouldn't have been used nearly as often. Then again, Hendry should've gotten Nevin or any other replacement far sooner than when he did to see that wouldn't happen. We already knew for some stupid reason Baker saw a lot of value in Perez. With Hendry throwing darn near a blank check at Neifi, I don't think Hendry minds seeing Perez playing. Did I give you the no injury thing in the bet? I must have been drinking the same stuff Hendry was when he signed Perez.
  24. So you're a big Wham fan eh? And a big thanks to Fred from me too! I always enjoy popping on the game thread and seeing Freds up to the second updates along with the neato stats.
  25. Is it Carrie Muskat? Maybe her awful voice carries over to her crap writing. who knows, but it's like a dentist's drill to my ear Could be worse. .... Glendon could still be pitching. Be realistic...when was the last time Glendon pitched into the 9th? Little League?
