  1. Why would the Yankees trade a 23yr old 2b that hit .342? Cano wont be traded. No, that's not what I meant. If the Yanks trade ARod and the Cubs can't help them cover 3rd they could switch Cano to third and take in Theriot as part of the trade.
  2. Well Joe Morgan says it's the Cubs so they belong with Tampa more than they do with Seattle or the Reds. Joe knows all.
  3. Do you really believe this to be true? I can see micromanaging because that's what they believe in but to justify their salaries....I really don't think so. Okay, replace "justify their salaries" to "feel like they're doing work/doing their job". I still don't believe that. IMO a manager has his beliefs and does what he thinks will be successful. Once you start thinking about doing things to justify their salaries or feel like they are doing work then it's time to leave the profession. I understand that many here don't respect managers at all but to say they do these things for these reasons are wrong IMO. My God, if I have 9 guys out there kicking butt I keep them in there unless I'm trying to get others some playing time and keep them from getting injured. In no way shape of form make a move just to justify me being there. That just doesn't make any sense to me.
  4. Can Cano play 3rd? Maybe the Yanks would be interested in Theriot amoung others like Hill and Pie.
  5. What are you basing this on? Lee got a fantatsic deal. Ramirez is well paid. The offer to Furcal was market value (nobody expected the Dodgers to crazy with their offer). If he says these guys are in his sights, and news reports show Soriano as his number one target, why disbelieve it? Just out of natural Cubs angst? Others have posted what I was going for. If the Cubs overpayed for Beltran they would have not traded for Pierre and the list goes on. IMO, when you have a talent like that you do what you have to do to get him. What stinks is that this year their are not any impact hitters out there in the free agent field.
  6. First of all, does anyone have Dusty's first press conference when he was hired? I'm curious on what he said. I'm curious on what techniques Lou will use his in game strategy. As for his make things happen I don't have a problem with it. I have a problem with running yourself out of innings but making something happen when the big hitters are struggling is a good thing....scratch out a run or two when you can. As for Levins question, he sounds like a bored little man with a grudge. If Lou can get the Cubs to use proper fundamentals and hold them responsible when they don't, I'll be thrilled.
  7. If Brenly doesn't get hired to manage this off season I wonder how he is going to handle it.
  8. Soriano and Schmidt could be our two if there are at least 15 Type A-B. Pierre leaving would give us one more. The good thing is that Daisuke would not be subject to that quota if we can land the winning bid. If Hendry does really try for these guys is he willing to overpay? He's shown in the past he isn't.
  9. Do you really believe this to be true? I can see micromanaging because that's what they believe in but to justify their salaries....I really don't think so.
  10. I just hope Hendry doesn't waste all the cash on B and C type players.
  11. You'll need some strike out pitchers with that group.
  12. I'm reading some now too where fans want Zambrano AND Ramirez, or another guy who wants Zambrano and Barrett... as backup catcher. Its bad enough they Yanks want an All-Star lineup, but they want a guy who just came off a year where he put up All Star numbers to be ON THE BENCH. A guy posted this rotation: Wang Zambrano Zito Hughes (?) Matsuzaka I'm not sure what happened to the $33M they owe Johnson ,Pavano, Wright, but I'm thinking they might be the delusional ones. Ironic that they want that much but yet think ARod isn't that good. Can't have it both ways.
  13. IMO, the only 2 ways this would happen are: -The Cubs move Z for ARod -The Yanks think Hill will be an impact pitcher and he and many others including the best third base prospect will go to the Yanks -Ramirez won't be traded if he signs a contract with the Cubs. I'd have to assume he's have a no trade and why would he sign with the Cubs when he could just as easily sign with the Yanks a little later?"
  14. Too bad Lou didn't hire Joe to be his bench coach.
  15. If Theriot stepped up it would be possible. I would just be hesitant to have the 2 young guys leading off. Plus, if Soriano is comfortable in the leadoff spot he might be talked into hitting 2 but 5th might make him feel uncomfortable, but, if he likes the lineup ahead of him it may work. At least Lou would have some decent choices.
  16. Any body know what Lou's swiping record is? Is he above in attemps?
  17. It looks as if he's leading us to Hell.
  18. You wouldn't bat Murton 1 or 2? I'd do: Murton Soriano Lee ARam Jones/righty Barrett Izturis Theriot/Fontenot
  19. Well Syracuse's schedule gets easier as we get a break and play Louisville.
  20. Hendry is "hustling" to the ATM to get the cash as we speak. Of course Ramirez's price just went up another 1.5 or 2 a year after hearing that.
  21. I wonder if Irchiro would want to play for Lou again?
  22. Well if Hendry can get a cetain pitcher on the Jays that has won a few games that would be nice!
  23. If I see Michigan St forced on me again I'm going to puke. I don't want this team on TV again.
  24. Roid rage....it catches up to them every time.
