  1. If this really happened Tree I'd buy you a beer, many if you wish. i would love to see this happen, if for no other reason, than to see dusty have to adhere to a different philosophy, and beane would make sure that he did. Wasn't it the great Paula Abdul that once sang in her smashing hit, Opposites attract?
  2. If Freshman Paul Harris can shoot and make jumpshots Syracuse will compete for the National title.
  3. My lord, Mike and Mike are making it sound like Dallas is 0-7. They are 3-3 for Gods sake, struggling but come on, let's not be so dramitic.
  4. Sometimes I think the media or parts of them don't like a guy if he doesn't kiss their butt. Maybe Ramirez is kind of distant with them and now they jump on him for this. If he was all buddy/buddy with them it probably wouldn't be mentioned. He doesn't seem to be a quoteable guy and give them those soundbites that they really love.
  5. Door Knob>>>>Dick Pole
  6. I don't know but he does wear loafers.
  7. Jake. Fox. Gotta work on that IsoD, though. :) That's why I like Moore, even when he is struggling his IsoD is pretty darn good.
  8. Juan doesn't know what a walk is. I agree, I hope Hendry just cuts his loss and let's Jaun go, but offer Arb first. If you still get compensation that is.
  9. IMO this sets a bad precedent for the upcoming FA period but it's been as bad or worse in past years. Someone is going to break to the bank to get Schmidt/Zito. I fully expect teams to bid high on both those pitchers and any team that lands them is going to have to overbid.
  10. He will be eligible for Social Security once that contract is done.
  11. They'll bounce back Truffle. It's early in the season and they still have games left with the Cowboys and Giants. Donny made some bad reads and TB made him pay.
  12. I like to hear an agent say this. It is nice but not until Ramirez has his name on the dotted line saying that he's a Cub, anything can happen. If I were Ramirez, I'd go free agent and negotiate with all the teams and I'd be especially interested in the Angels and the Yanks. I assume the Cubs can still compete for his services until you can no longer sign a free agent.
  13. I wonder if the players saw that no one was watching the playoffs and this helped push them a little.
  14. So, if the Trammel rumor is correct, we have: Bench Coach: Alan Trammel Hitting Coach: ? Pitching Coach: Larry Rothschild Firstbase Coach: ? but believed to be Quade. Thirdbase Coach: Bullpen Coach: Matt Sinatro. All right....I'll take the hitting coach job then since nobodys taken it yet. Those last 2 openings are pretty important IMO and may distinguish what idenity this team is going to have. No way, man. I've heard rumors that you preached swinging at a curveball, no matter the count, is a good thing. That's why it's called hitting and not walking.
  15. I think it's good to have the good cop bad cop type of situation. I'm sure Lou will have enough fire to cover all the coaching staff.
  16. I say keep Prior, no doubt about that unless someone makes the Cubs an offer they can't refuse. Sign Wood and Miller for 2 plus incentives. Then, keep spending money on Matsusaka from Japan and get Schmidt or Zito. The young guys can fill in if needed and if one of the 3 DL brothers are healthy it's a bonus. That would fill my pitching needs. Now, if Hendry has a somewhat limited 105 or 110 budget this move reeks of getting vets and this win now is making me a little nervous, unless Hendry can do what I wrote above and fix the hitting woes. Thinking about this a little, maybe Hendry has a plan to trade some of those young pitchers and is getting Miller for insurance. He can't trade Miller since he's a free agent but he certainly can move a Marshall or the like.
  17. Let me tell you, if Rutgers becomes a power ND and Penn State can kiss their pipeline to Jersey goodbye. This school was a sleeping giant IMO and if they continue on this path it's going to hurt a lot of schools. And this hurts to write because I hate that school. Whether or not Greg Schiano (I think that's right) stays may have a huge impact on whether they get good. I've been hearing many rumors that he may replace Coker in Miami. No doubt, Schiano has that school jumping and I think it would be a mistake for him to go back to Miami. It's a hornets nest right now, let someone else deal with it.

  19. Hendry has to learn that consulting with the manager sometimes is ok, sometimes even desireable. But when it comes right down to it, HE makes the final decision, not the manager. One has to wonder, though... will it be the same witih Piniella? I think it will be to a point. The thing that worrys me is that Hendry doesn't seem to have a plan and that he can be persuaded by the WS winner or his manager. I'm really curious on what Jim Hendry's real vision is.
  20. I don't either! :D White will though and for some reason WV always gets good RB's.
  21. If Alabama did the same exact thing as the Razorbacks have do you think they'd be #14? No way would they IMO. It's like all the press watched the USC game and wrote them off until they win their 9th or 10th game.
  22. 61 yards wow....you must be happy Tiger. What a kick.
  23. If Westbrook just stood on the one yard line to waste time until a TB guy came near him, would that be legal or is it taunting? The more seconds that run off the better, it's still only a 1 point lead with 33 seconds left.
  24. Westbrook is the man!
  25. He's also one of, if not THE best shortstop not in the HOF. Agrred. And then you take in account the numbers of 2 current HOFers who play SS, and compare them with Trammell's: .260/.299/.367 .262/.337/.328 .285/.352/.415 First line is Bill Mazeroski (yeah, a REAL HOF statline, ain't it) Second line is Ozzie Smith (HTH do you have a higher OBP then slg?) Third line is Alan Trammell. Alan is CLEARLY better then both Ozzie and Bill, and those two boneheads are in the HOF and Trammell is not? Apparently Alan Trammell has what Sandberg had, and what Santo currently have, the disdain of Joe Morgan. Becuase if Maz and Smith are HOFers, then according to that logic, Trammell would be an elite of the HOF. I thought Mazerowski was a second baseman?
