  1. I would like Pie on ther big club if he is the 8 hitter and the Cubs are stacked 1-7. Also, I don't want him leading off unless he shows he can handle it. I do not want to go into the season with him being the leadoff guy, I want the pressure off him as much as possible.
  2. What she said!
  3. Say what you want about the NL Central but they have sent the last 3 NL teams to the World Series.
  4. Does Jason Grimsley look stacked to you? I didn't think so. Grimsley has a neanderthal head So you're saying that bobbleheads are on steroids too?
  5. It's the Cubs, need you ask? Of course we'd get the LA version. Wasn't it under Piniella that Lugo's offense started to turn-around? Managers just lose games for their teams...they have nothing to do with any of the teams success. None. Can't. Just being at the right place at the right time is all it is. Yep, that's the ticket.

  8. You have to look for abnormalities. The calf thing has been known about Prior going back to college. Do they have testing there? Didn't he pitch for Team USA during that timeframe too? During college is when he had House around. I don't know if he was tested pitching for team USA. Do you recall any players being tested positive from that time from any country? I'm just curious if he had them in HS.

  10. I think Mark has to get this stuff straightened out ASAP. I still believe that he took steroids but that's just my opinion. Why do you think that? He worked with Tom House and that the area had a lot of the stuff floating around. Also, his calves are huge, maybe they have always been since he was a kid, but that could be another clue. Since baseball refuses to test for HGH we'll never know who is and who isn't.

  12. The beauty part to is that Baker is gone and the Cubs won't lose their top pick. It's a step back to hopefully go many steps foward, let's hope Hendry has learned his lesson.
  13. Trading Z and adding a free agent pitcher could be akin to letting Maddux go and signing Guzman. The things I always liked about Maddux is that he was never hurt but the abuse that Z has had under Baker may make him more valnerable to injury than if he was handled correctly. This is something that Hendry has to take very seriously IMO and if he is going to move Z this off season he could be at his peak value. Just imagine what Hendry could have got for Prior a couple of years ago.
  14. Their treatment of very good players is really weird. Do that fans hate these guys or just managment? philly fans are the most obnoxious in all of sports. plus, the philly accent may be the most terribly annoying accent in existence. Philwy has bad wooder. Abreu was a bed wetter?
  15. Would the Yanks want Barrett? He could slide to third or they could trade for him to catch and then move Posada.
  16. I'd switch Murton and Theriot or bump Lugo to leadoff and Murton to #2.
  17. Now it's time for Mr. Hendry to get the right players and prove he belongs in the GM position.
  18. And I was just pointing out that the Cubs do hit righties relatively well (compared to how they hit lefties). The Cubs have multiple guys with an OPS over 800 and a couple over 900 against RHP. Now take away Jones and add Burrell and how do the numbers add up? Burrell is still well over 800 against RHP. Jones was 50 points higher in OPS against RHP this season, and actually lower from 2003-2005. Since you wrote the Cubs struggled against leftys, did Burrell hit them well too? I know Jones struggled. 1000+ Now dat's a good numbah!
  19. If Lou can get Lee Elia to come and be the hitting coach we could have some interesting times ahead for sure.
  20. That sounds good along with the putting more time into Asia.

  23. Maybe I was incorrect ... I have friends who like to think that Rothschild invented and implemented it in an insidious plot to prevent Cubs pitchers from ever pitching again. I thought Tom House was the guy who first used it?
  24. I don't know if he's done a good job or not, but I'm not interested in O'Neal's head on a platter, for the very reason that Bruce points out in the first sentence. This is the 3rd guy in 4 years. I don't think you solve health issues by constantly turning over the training staff. Besides, I blame Dusty's abuse for the health problems much more than a trainer that came on after these guys were hurt. I think it might be more of Baker not backing O'Neil. Dusty let the players do what they wanted and my best guess is if the players didn't want to listen to O'Neil, they didn't have too.
  25. I don't believe in "too right handed". I think too many managers get caught up in L/R lineups, instead of the best hitters. Besides, the Cubs are actually middle of the pack in the NL for OPS against righties, and at the bottom against lefties. I guess the point I made that I bolded didn't count, eh? What do you mean not count? I just don't think "too right handed" is a problem, even if Burrell replaces Jones. The Cubs problem is they don't hit lefties. It is a problem if the rightys or leftys in the lineup can't hit rightys and that's why I said I didn't know the splits on the players to be able to tell if the move would work.
