  1. Can you and Derwood just put each other on ignore already? The snide remarks back and forth are getting really old. i, for one, actually enjoy reading their remarks to each other. +1 It's obvious derwood doesn't so it has to stop.
  2. Actually, they do. despite my admonitions, the wife still drinks diet pop (mostly Diet Dr. Pepper), and according to the list of ingredients, it contains aspartame. I'm pretty sure all the other major diet sodas do as well. EDIT: A cursory look shows Diet Dr. Pepper, Diet Pepsi, the majority of Diet Coke and Diet Dew all still contain aspartame. Some have Splenda now.
  3. It'll give him time to catch up on his summer reading. I still don't understand the use of having so many pitchers on the team. I suppose having guys that play the whole game and a flexible bench make it ok to do so.
  4. HOLY COW!!! That is much better video of the actual brawl. That almost brought a tear of joy to my eye to actually see a REAL baseball brawl. There must have been ten different groups of people squared off in their individual fights. Probably a gang fight, WHIPS vs ISoD's.
  5. Huh? Who has been 'stuck' in the pen with no opportunities to start? The organization has shuffled some guys between starter and pen, but none have irrevocably found themselves stuck in the pen. And don't say Marmol. He isn't stuck. The organization sees his future value as closer and the only chatter about him moving back to starter has been around here. Free the rhetoric! Marmol is the poster boy. The organization seeing his value as a closer is the point, Rob isn't saying that the Cubs really want to start some people but they can't get them out of the pen. They see someone have success in the pen and fall in love with them as a reliever, ignoring that they might be just as good over more innings. So this little DL stint for Wood may be a tryout for Marmol to be the 2009 closer?
  6. I beg to differ. Roy is definately worth 5-7 players HANDS DOWN. is Roy better than Rich Harden, who only cost 4 players (and Chad Gaudin came in the same deal?) Think about it dude Yes, Roy Halladay is much better than Rich Harden, he throws complete games like their going out of style. They are out of style. If Soriano is ok I wouldn't mind a shot at Roy but it's going to take a Kings ransome. If he's out there, I see the Angels being able to crush the Cubs in prospects.
  7. By trading for a bad, old pitcher? It worked when he was in Pulp Fiction.
  8. You got that right. I'd kind of enjoy it if the Packers won the SB with Rodgers at the helm.
  9. I think he's talking about football jerseys, not prison numbers.
  10. They asked me to spell it for them. At least they didn't add the Red Sox and Yankees to the question or answer.
  11. I saw the WALL-E previews and thought it was going to be horrible, I was surprised at all the good reviews it recieved but obviously it better than they showed in the preview.
  12. Maybe Wade thought he could clean up the mess the Stros are in?
  13. Wonderful, thanks TT!
  14. Is it any wonder why this organization hasn't had a genuinely good offensive team in ages? You are against swinging hard? I suppose he might be thinking swing out of his butt and being off balance instead of good bat speed.
  15. Historically, not long. Was it his wrist or arm that was broken? Hand I thought it was a broken finger? I could be remembering wrong, though. IIRC it was one of the bones in the hand that the finger connects to. Yes, I know that's an incredibly medical statement. I just remember his injury sounded very much like something similar I had as a teen. I also broke the same wrist like a year afterwards -- the wrist injury was *much* more intense and required much more rehab for me. Put the Maxim mag away next time and it won't hurt as much. Yeah, I'd rather have it be a broken finger over a wrist anytime.
  16. Could someone please give me the good sites to the White Sox minor league teams along with how they progress as the players move up? I went to their (Sox) homepage and it doesn't give me the info I want. Thanks.
  17. Historically, not long. Was it his wrist or arm that was broken? It was his hand I was 0-2! Thanks C2238.
  18. Historically, not long. Was it his wrist or arm that was broken?
  19. A much needed boost. I wonder how long it'll take him to get into the swing of things?
  20. What's the deal with the dude with the Sox hat?
  21. I kind of agree, but think it can be opened up to anyone who made a significant impact (performance-wise) on a team for an extended period of time. Peyton Manning at Tennessee, Donovan McNabb at Syracuse, Darren McFadden at Arkansas, Herschel Walker at Georgia and Reggie Bush at USC are recent examples of what I'm talking about. Reserve them not just for the greatest players to ever play the game, but also the greatest players to ever play for their respective team/school. And one year isn't enough time to make that type of impact, in my opinion. I went with at least three years. One year is foolish imo and I hope Syracuse doesn't do this foolishness with Melo but our AD is just flash and probably would do it to get a big record crowd in the Dome. I don't have a problem with your list other than Bush if he's found to be guilty of taking cash. The Yankees are the biggest goof when it comes to this. Mattingly, come on.
  22. I really don't like jerseys retired in any sport unless the player was a Babe Ruth/Hank Aaron/Jordan/Gretzgy Pro wise and Jim Brown type college player wise.
