  1. Contreras Bryant Rizzo Baez Wisdom Pederson Marisnick Hoerner Davies It that lineup doesn't scream "at least two runs", I don't know what to tell ya'.
  2. Thought I'd jump on this misery train and give it a go with a game thread. The Cubs have this guy on the mound: The Phillies have this guy going for them: What do these people think of the Cubs' run potential tonight? The two most likely scenarios at the end of the evening: And this:
  3. Wisdom has to have at least some value to some other team, right??
  4. Do you have a better backup catcher idea? KB - worth a shot. He plays everywhere else.
  5. Why does anyone believe being “buyers” is the right direction for the team over the next few weeks???? If they were a player or two from being a legit WS contender, sure, buy buy buy. But this team is seriously flawed in so many areas. They need 2-3 starters, an outfielder or two, a catcher or at least a competent backup, a second baseman, maybe a legit LH bat off the bench. What am I missing??? Sell the sh!t out of this team and start over with a new core. Maybe we can go back to low expectations and just being happy with individual performance and promising prospects.
  6. Remember when piling up the opposing pitcher’s pitch count, wear him down, and seeing a bunch of pitches mattered. That was cool.
  7. Thank you sir, may I have another! Bomb #2 today.
  8. Unfortunately, baseball in general seems to be mostly reduced to HRs and Ks. Not a lot of “singles/doubles” hitters anymore. Guess that’s frowned upon.
  9. Three runs or less…..again. This offense is just not good too often.
  10. Shades of Brooksie! Fantastic!!
  11. I’d be fine with them being sellers. This offense has been Jekyll and Hyde since 2017, and getting progressively worse. And the pitching is not gonna care them in the postseason. I mean, sure, the stars could all align and something crazy could happen. But I won’t hold my breath A rebuild could be fun if it’s a true rebuild with intentions of winning in short order. Wouldn’t mind seeing what Jed is capable of doing. Much more enthusiasm and positivity on this board back around 2010-2014, and the team sucked all sorts. I love the Cubs core players, but they peaked in 2016-2017. Don’t get mean wrong, that’s the way to peak. But they aren’t winning another championship together, and they’re not all staying in Chicago after this season, most likely. So trade them away and build for the future.
  12. Since May 1, the pitching staff has given up 3 or less runs for the game 34 times. They're 31 and 20. Seems like the Ws should be much higher than that.
  13. I know the Cubs' starting pitching is not dominant by any stretch of the imagination. But is there really any doubt what this team's Achilles heal is. Their offense is mostly garage most of the time. They strike out too much, rely on HRs too much, and are not that great on the base path. Their situational hitting sucks, and for years, they've struggled to get a runner on third in with less than 2 outs. Very frustrating to lose games when the pitching regularly holds teams to 3 or less runs.
  14. ***NEWS FLASH*** deGrom gave up an earned run in inning #2 against the Phillies. Some guy named Nick Maton got a 2 out single to score 'cutch.
  15. World peace? Strong economy with low? Donuts that taste like the real deal but have no calories or negative health implications?
  16. KImbrel was overthrowing to the first batter. A knucklecurve with virtually no movement followed by 3 fastballs. All 4 pitches were high, not even close.
  17. Crazy Coors at it again. Brewers rolling along, up 6-0. Rocks have 2 hits through 5 innings. In the 6th, they get 6 hits, 4 HRs, score 6 runs and tie the game. It just aboslutely sucks to be in pitcher in that stadium.
  18. Weather forecast? Any rain in the picture?
  19. Salvage win - fly it!! :flythew:
  20. Root canal or wisdom tooth extraction.
  21. I'm not certain better starting pitching would've helped win any of the first 3 games after only scoring 7 total runs. Unless, of course, you mean dominant pitching.
  22. Can someone, anyone, explain his left ear.
  23. Went to Game 2 off Ole Miss / Arizona in the Tucson Super Sectional last night. Thought I’d cheer on the local team. Admittedly, don’t know much about college baseball, don’t really follow it. But a few observations: -watched the Rebels pitcher warm up. He looked scared/uneasy. Thought he would get rocked. Couldn’t be farther from what actually happened. Doug Nikhazy is an All American junior and looks to be a second round prospect. He dominated but threw a lot of pitches. AZ fouled off a lot of pitches, but struggled to put the ball in play. Nikhazy had about 10-12 Ks in 4 2/3 innings. Really stymied the ‘cats. Guess he outmatched Kumar Rocker earlier in the year. -Arizona pitcher got blasted. Seemed like everything hit by Ole Miss was a rocket, even the outs. And this guy (Garrett Irvin) is their top pitcher apparently. -Freshman lead off hitter for the Rebs has some really nice ABs including a rocket line drive HR to lead off the game. He also took a full count outside pitch and punched it out into left center for a couple of RBI. Kid might be a player. -Nothing else off real note other than Ole Miss has a 10 run lead in the 8th and has a pinch runner straight steal. Thought that was odd. Hope Arizona wins tonight….Go ‘cats!! Bear down!!
