  1. Can LaStella be optioned. I'd guess he would before Almora in order to get a pitcher up from Iowa. Of course, there's always the possibility TLS would quit and go home.
  2. Hello April!! Let' s toast the Cubs victory over the hapless fish. Cubs close out March with a winning % of .667. Do that each month for the remainder of the season and they finish with about 150 wins (give or take; don't have a calculator handy). Did any really expect them to lose two in a row??? PLEASE! A day game after a night game with Q on the mound to start the game and his first full season as a Cub. So far, the starters have had a rough start, great start, followed by a rough start. So I expect Q to be near unhittable tomorrow. Win the series, fly to Cincy and let the offense get fat off of Reds pitching!
  3. On Cub.com, here's what listed in the capsule for Darvish in the preview of tonight's game: "Darvish was the Cubs' biggest offseason addition, signing a six year deal. The righty has shown that he's a better hitter than Joe Maddon thought and also easy to converse with. He's motivated after two disappointing starts in the WS for the Dodgers" Seriously?!? :-s Love this insight because I didn't really know Darvish was easy to converse with. Len and JD have never mentioned this on a broadcast.
  4. That Marlin guy could get his second win of the day and be a starting pitcher with a 2-0 record after the third game of the season.
  5. 3/31/18 chicago marlins (A Boy Named Yu) @ FLORIDA CUBS (A Jumble of Vowels & Consonants) 6:10 CST CSNChicago **So what has the 2018 season taught us so far? -The cubs are as bad as the MARLINS -Or, the MARLINS are as good as the cubs -Any chances of going wire to wire were quickly dashed as the VAUNTED BREWERS put up a 5 spot in the 9th against Brad Hand for an epic comeback win. And the Bucs are undefeated, too. -The cubs now sit in third place in their division and have several teams in front of them for the last NL Wild Card spot -The cubs are currently the second best baseball team in Chicago Is football season here, yet? Wait, I’m a packers fan. Never mind. So I guess a theme of the season game threads is gonna be the show Sopranos. Gotta admit – never saw it. And while I’m vaguely familiar with who Tony Soprano is, I’m actually much more familiar with Isabella Soprano. Thought about posting a few video clips of her, but: A – don’t know how to post video clips; B – didn’t think Tim would let that fly. So instead, I’m gonna try to summon the mojo of another TV mob family from yonder days (sorry youngins): http://www.oocities.org/dinahmanoffpage/lefkowitz.jpg Don’t mess with Lefkowitz!!! So the cubs get to show off their shiny new pitcher tonight. Let’s hope he can save the bullpen and save the season. And if he doesn’t, I don’t have to start a game thread for a while. **game thread starter virgin!
  6. I am not ready to start my first ever game thread tomorrow. Mr. Sofa not pulling his weight in 2018, it appears. I expected to have more time to prepare. I have done no research into tomorrow's game. I don't even know how to post pictures, let alone short video clips. SOFA - Do Something!!!!!!!
  7. Just got home to see the game. Not ready to start a game thread, therefore the Cubs will score at least one run in the top of the 10th.
  8. I always pictured Dusty calling a pitchout when there’s a full count. Or issuing a IBB with the bases loaded just so the batter doesn’t hit a grand slam.
  9. For a very long time, the Reds always were the first game of the MLB season. In 1982 the Cubs faced the Reds and Mario Soto. Bump Wills (son of Maury) deposited the first pitch of the MLB season over the fence. Incidentally, this was Ryne Sandberg’s first game as a Cub. Cubs went on to win 3-2 in 8 innings.
  10. Don’t know if it was mentioned in the previous pages, but anyone remember the last time a Cub hit the first pitch of the first MLB game on Opening Day for a HR? Hint - it was at Riverfront Stadium.
  11. Be excited you were “original”. Be depressed you will probably get zero points from him
  12. Who figures out first that the 2017 Chase Anderson turned into the real Chase Anderson in 2018: Brewers fans or Chase Anderson??
  13. The private message I've tried to send is still in my outbox.
  14. 13 is unlucky. Need at least one more game thread starter!
  15. I'll probably that schmuck once in a while, but most likely not due to Customs.
  16. 17. Gotta admit, was feeling a little special when I opened my private messages. Then I saw this. #-o
  18. Meh, Darvish is signed already, so no biggie! :amen:
  19. I saw him out at a golf range last fall. He opens up his hips too soon which is causing him to push the ball to his left. Needs to work on keeping his hips closed through impact.
  20. I've never been part of this in the past , but would be interested in giving it a try. I've been having a bit of tendinitis flareups of my metacarpals, though.
  21. If the runner on second scores, is it an “earned run”, and if so, who is it charged to? Could make a difference in a player’s contract.
  22. The should install lights. For night games.
  23. Don't sleep on Brett Anderson!
  24. Nelson had 6 TDs in the first 5 games, of which he only played in 4. AR got hurt in Game 6. Nelson caught ZERO TDs the rest of the year. Stating he is only good if he plays with the best QB in the league is an absurd statement since it's basically the only QB he's played with. And playing the remainder of last season (while injured) with a guy who showed he is not an NFL backup, let alone a starting QB. Nelson isn't what he was a few years ago, but I think he'll still be damn productive. And GB won't cut him, they'll most likely restructure for another year. Cobb is probably gone.
