  1. But those numbers are from years past. This years Cubs hitters are not really hitting like Cubs hitters of the past, with the exception of Javy (better than in the past). Of course, with their Jeckyll and Hyde outputs this year, they’ll probably chase Max in the fifth inning.
  2. Cubs have 46 games remaining. If they finish with 90 wins, everyone gets one more chance at starting a thread (with itsallpartoftheplan getting tomorrow and one more. Hopefully it comes up well short of happening.
  3. Not certain which instills less confidence - a previous Chatsuck start. Or facing Scherzer. A push, I guess.
  4. Sitting in the upper deck down the left field line. Wind is coming across from at a pretty good clip.
  5. Engelberg ......reincarnated!!!
  6. And Peralta can't get an out in the 4th before being lifted. His line, you ask: 3+ innings, 7 ER on 7 hits, 5 BBs and 3 Ks. Yep, he just needs to harness that moving fastball. #-o
  7. About 12 Ks/9 is pretty good. Must have some pretty good movement in his pitches, which might explain the wildness at times. Yeah he’s getting results but he throws like 80% FB in the 88-92 range and it seems like it’s more deception than movement from when I watch. His curve is very pedestrian 22 year old pitching (decently) every 5 days for a team (flawed) in the hunt (not for long) is pretty good (until he's not). :D
  8. His command has always been shakey. Idk how he’s much more than replacement levelish with his 88-92 MPH FB wild in the zone with no real breaking or offspeed pitch About 12 Ks/9 is pretty good. Must have some pretty good movement in his pitches, which might explain the wildness at times.
  9. Peralta pretty wild for the VBs. He's pretty good, and will be very good with any control.
  10. I was thinking more along the lines of a deuce, a #2, a doody - because he pitches like sh!t !!!
  11. So Cubswin11 - you're definitely gonna need a strong outing. We've got the bottom of the "game threads" rotation coming up, and, much like the Cubs' rotation, it's not looking pretty. For the season, these bottom-dwellers have a W-L record of 9-13. Take away SSR (5-2), and that's a pretty atrocious record of 4-11 before we circle back to the top. Maybe a few of those guys should spend some time working things out in the "Minor Leagues" forum doing a few game threads there. Anything to right the ship, right?
  12. Based solely on the pitching matchup of the last three game threads, you’d swear Q, Monty and Cole we’re doing MiLB rehab starts.
  13. I was thinking it’s mostly like a delicious pizza except the bites that contain a bug. Or something like that.
  14. Chatwood should only be used to pinch run for a semi-injured player late in a game or to pitch if the Cubs are down by double digits at any point in a game.
  15. Why does anyone throw Javy fastballs?
  16. Stop complaining. The Cubs have best record in the NL and are in first place. All is well.
  17. Was surprised the VBs pitched to Machado the inning before with a man on third and first base open (and two outs).
