    About 12 Ks/9 is pretty good. Must have some pretty good movement in his pitches, which might explain the wildness at times. Yeah he’s getting results but he throws like 80% FB in the 88-92 range and it seems like it’s more deception than movement from when I watch. His curve is very pedestrian 22 year old pitching (decently) every 5 days for a team (flawed) in the hunt (not for long) is pretty good (until he's not). :D

    Peralta pretty wild for the VBs. He's pretty good, and will be very good with any control.

    So Cubswin11 - you're definitely gonna need a strong outing. We've got the bottom of the "game threads" rotation coming up, and, much like the Cubs' rotation, it's not looking pretty. For the season, these bottom-dwellers have a W-L record of 9-13. Take away SSR (5-2), and that's a pretty atrocious record of 4-11 before we circle back to the top. Maybe a few of those guys should spend some time working things out in the "Minor Leagues" forum doing a few game threads there. Anything to right the ship, right?

    From MLB Trade Rumors Arrieta, who ultimately signed with the Philadelphia organization later in the winter, tells Wittenmyer that he does not really believe that Epstein expected to get a deal done when he called with a “take it or leave it” proposal of six years and $120MM. That statement reflects previous reporting on the perceptions of both sides to that conversation. While he emphasized that he harbors no ill will at all toward Epstein or the Cubs organization, Arrieta says that approach was a non-starter, even though he had yet to receive a formal contract offer to that point: “[T]hey weren’t willing to negotiate at all, and that wasn’t acceptable for me,” Arrieta tells Wittenmyer. “I bet on myself just like I have my entire career and ended up getting a good deal.” There's more to the story after the paragraphs above.

    Wasn't he just called back up from the minors? I kinda got stuck with him. I had to make two moves early in the first hals, and then he got sent down. Had to make a move right after the ASB, and didn't want to burn both so early. So I hope he's back and hits a few in the next two months.

    Pirates land Archer in exchange for Tyler Glasnow and Austin Meadows. Archer has 3 years left. Rays got a good deal I think. Phillies get Wilson Ramos for PTBNL. Dodgers get Brian Dozier for Logan Forsythe, pitcher Devin Smeltzer and outfielder Luke Raley,

    Does a trade for another starter possible free up Monty (and others) for a bigger trade? Or is it to get Monty in the BP to add to the super bullpen?

    Who's over-reacting? Really. Prior to ASB, bunch of folks suggested the Brewers were gonna continue to crash and burn due to their brutal schedule coming out of the Break. So far they haven't. Give credit where credit is due. Sure, they can slide in the next 5-10. But they've done well (so far) in what many would say is the toughest stretch of their schedule. Anyway, screw the VBs. If the Cubs continue to play like they've played most of the season (or better, which is more realistic than the VBs keeping their pace), the Cubs will win the division going away. I think the domination of 2016 has spoiled a lot a fans into thinking the Cubs should be a 100+ win team each year. It's not that they're haters. Just wishing to team would be more consistent and play up to their abilities more often. FWIW. :cool:
