  1. okay but a comment about being annoyed that the brewers are doing well during the hardest part of their remaining schedule should not have gotten that kind of reaction, what the horsefeathers Because they're not actually done with the hardest part of their remaining schedule? Because they can still finish under .500 against said hard part of the schedule? It's like calling "Ballgame" when the Cubs are down 4-0 in the 5th inning (not saying that you specifically do this, just using it as an example). Sure, it doesn't look great, but maybe wait for the game to play out a bit more before you declare it over. Playing a bit of devil's advocate: What if the VBs were 4-6 out of the ASB and the Dodgers were up 5-1 last night,. Would it be okay for a poster to play the "I told you so, the VBs are frauds. Look at how they fare against a tough schedule"?? And then that poster wouldn't be criticized for jumping the gun after only 10 games....because they could still end up with a winning record over that stretch?? Because that happens all the time. People have been waiting for the VBs to crash for 4 months. And they really haven't...yet. So if there's ever a post giving them due, or pointing out the flaws in other posters' comments of the VB's certain demise, then they're called haters, doomboners, etc. Like pointing out things about the VBs is somehow an attack against the Cubs or that poster is somehow a lesser Cubs fan.
  2. Wondering how much longer I should hold on to Miguel Sano. :-k
  3. He's been dominant in June and July is what I've read. So he's due for a regression?
  4. Quit being a Hader. We haven’t even gotten to the super soft part of our schedule. I'm not being a Hader or a Hater. My commentary is about the VBs. They're playing well, and outside of a losing streak right before the ASB, they've played well pretty much the entire year....so far. I guess it's fine to point out the VBs warts. But if there's comments about those warts not always being accurate, then shame on the poster.
  5. 1. They’re only 6-4 so far. That's a pretty good start 2. Tonight’s game isn’t over and they could still lose. But they could also win 3. They still have three more against the Dodgers. Yep, they do. 4. Then they get 3 against Colorado. At Miller, where the Brewers are pretty good 5. That means even if they win tonight, they could still go 7-10 to start the second half (as long as we’re wildly overreacting here). Don't know statement was an overreaction other than 17 mimmicking what several posters said about the Brewers schedule coming out of the ASB 5. After a short break against San Diego, they have three in Atlanta and two against us. They're back to playing decent ball after the losing streak going into the ASB 6. You complain way too much and don’t deserve the awesomeness we’ve gotten from the Cubs the last 3 1/2 years. Don't know that he complains too much, don't really know him/her, other than he/she posts a lot here 7. You’re: That's funny!
  6. Cards walk off homer in bottom of 10th, beat Rockies 5-4. Ozuna with the blast. And VBs are cruising against the Dodgers in LA. That stretch outta the ASB is gonna kill the VBs.
  7. Junior Guerra is slowly becoming Junior Guerra.
  8. VBs really struggling out of the All-Star Break. That was supposed to happen, right?
  9. When does a good starter pitch next for the Cubs?
  10. Tuffy Rhodes? Gooden thinks so.
  11. Not until he starts throwing a knotted-up towel.
  12. Saw on MLB.com an article about the best player on each team acquired via trade. Here's what they have for the Rays: "Rays Chris Archer (acquired with Brandon Guyer, Robinson Chirinos, Hak-Ju Lee and Sam Fuld from the Chicago Cubs for Matt Garza, Fernando Perez and Zac Rosscup, January 2011) Garza would never pitch in a postseason game again; he'd leave the Cubs for the Rangers right before their postseason run would begin. " I remember Cubs-basher Steve Stone going on incessantly about this trade and how the key was Kak-Ju Lee. Sure, Archer was a prize, but yopu gotta give up talent to get talent. Stone was gushing about Lee and how the Cubs made a mistake letting him go. The following season, Lee was hitting pretty well, and Stoney would bring it up from time to time. Funny thing is, of all the players acquired by Tampa, Lee is the only guy Tampa got that didn't play in the Majors. The other four have had respectable careers.
  13. I missed this signing along the way, but the Chris Coghlan is leading off for Iowa.
  14. Zack Short breaks up the perfect game with 2 outs in the 7th. Single off of Cease.
  15. I definitely love all the talent on the Cubs roster/starting lineup that was culled from their minor league system. But it was also a ton of fun following the prospects at different levels, gushing over their stats, and dreaming what the future held. (of course, we all found out what the future held in 2016)
  16. Don’t go look at Eloy shredding AAA. It’s painful. Thank goodness Q pitched well last outing. He take a break from the DL to play a game? Neat. He’s going to have to hit like JD Martinez to carry any value. Big Jorge was mashing at all levels as well. But he could seem to stay healthy, and then his flaws were exposed in the Bigs. Next thing you know, he's a sub on a bad team (when he's not injured).
  17. I’d hope not. He’s still owed ~$50 million. Maybe that’s a scenario where the more the Cubs give up, the more KC eats his contract and vice versa. Or maybe they could take Chatsuck to even the money out a bit. Regarding J.A, Happ, in the Cubs do end up getting him, would our multi-positional player then become E.N. Happ?
  18. Up to 5 innings, 9 Ks and 62 pitches....perfect so far. And Matt Rose has a dinger.
  19. I thought it was gonna stop rolling before it got to the track.
  20. Hit and a HR and Reds are up 2-1. LOL! edit -it’s actually 2-2
  21. Talk to the Mods Two game threads at once, what are the odds.
