  1. That was a terrible call, I swear they want them to play touch football.
  2. Is there any possibility of Green Bay losing, or should I not bother watching?
  3. Ugh, why can we not just run a normal offense when we are dominating them?
  4. Why would you go with no backs, when the run is what has been destroying them? Seriously?
  5. My question is, have the Bears made adjustments and might have a shot to win some games, or is Tampa Bay just terrible?
  6. Why is hester not catching the ball?
  7. I simply do not understand the playcalling...
  8. There is nothing that can be said to respect Ron's love of the game or the Cubs. I can't wait to play with him in heaven above.
  9. This team will never win until the new owner cleans out the entire front office, and they rebuild from scratch. It's a shame but I doubt any member of the team today will see the world series as a Cub. We've squandered a whole lot of talent over the last decade with craptacular management and an inability to do what is necessary. This team is built for mediocrity and will always be so until it's rebuilt from the ground up. I'm not saying it's going to happen... after all, we're cubs fans...
  10. Cubs fans will always expect to lose deep down... until we win. The Cubs are a vastly superior team to the Dodgers... it's not even close, even with improvements to the Dodgers recently. If the Cubs lose, it's an abberation. The Cubs have had a lot of abberations. The odds favor them, and that's as much as can be expected going into a 5 game series. This is the best Cubs team in my lifetime, I fully expect them to win the World series. If they don't, it's unfortunate, but i'll expect it of them next year then.
  11. The rotation is the key thing, and we have time to set it up, no doubt. This team is streaky, so I'm very concerned if they all sit too much in the last couple of weeks... if they get cold, it's all over way too fast. I would rather see them playing, and working on specific aspects of their hitting, without any pressure.
  12. They don't have a playoff game unless a spot is on the line. I think they go to the next tiebreaker to see who gets the division vs the WC. They only flipped the Cubs/Brewers coin to say there's something left in the race. I think everyone assumes the Cubs will win... except Cubs fans of course :)
  13. Seeing that lineup still gives me chills...
  14. 15-7 Cubs. God owes me. Wait, that could be bad...
  15. haven't watched since the 5-1 spot, did Lou have anything good to say after the game?
  16. Remember when 2 runs in the first sounded good?
  17. to be perfectly honest, if the Cubs can't go 4-2 to finish out this season, they don't deserve the spot. That said, it's nearly impossible to win 7 highly intense games in a row in the last week of the season, so the Brewers are going to drop 1 or 2, which means the Cubs only need to go 3-3 or 2-4. If they can't do THAT... then they REALLY don't deserve the spot. To be perfectly honest, I'm more concerned with Z's arm, and setting up the rotation for that first series, than I am about the division. Granted, I seriously hope the CUBS aren't thinking that way yet :).
  18. yes, because someone who had done it and failed enough to be fired (very hard to do in baseball), should be given another opportunity to fail... Hendry should just admit he makes all his decisions based on how to sell tickets... not how to build a winning team...
  19. no, you just don't get it! Walks "CLOG" the bases. That makes it harder for fast guys to score runs. You can't advance with your speed if there's a guy on the base in front of you. If two guys walk, how's a speedy guy going to be able to lay down a bunt for a single? I mean, they can go to any base in that situation! You have to leave the bases open so speedy guys can get around them. And don't forget, the most likely guys to get walks are the power hitters, who get "pitched around" We need those guys hitting home runs, or knocking our speedy guys in from first after they get their bunt singles. We can't afford for them to just be hanging out on first base, waiting for the speedy guys to come up to bat again! All this team needs is better clutch hitting. WE need to hit those doubles and triples after our speedy guys get on first. We can't afford to just hit singles and knock guys that have walked over to second in. No, that doesn't score enough runs. We need more timely hitting, like home runs with the bases empty (so the guy doesn't get slowed up in his home run trot), or sac fly's when a speedy guy has stolen third!
  20. well, it's not worth rooting for them to win, as long as the front office is stupid.
  21. this is actually kind of amazing
  22. Hendry bears the responsability of how the team does in a year. Hendry is horrible, and is the reason we're probably going to finish last in the NL. Baker bears the responsibility of how the team does on a daily basis. He's given a team each day, and told to go out and win that day with that team. A better Manager would win more with less than Baker's been given. Hendry has lost us many games by giving Baker a bad team. Baker has lost us many games by using the bad team incorrectly. Combined, they've lost more than either would on their own, becuase their weaknesses reinforce each other. It's all very frustrating.
  23. every win surprises me at this point.
