I believe the us against them thing is somewhat real in football, where effort matters. I've also been afraid of the Bears getting full of themselves on multiple occasions in the past once skeptics started falling in love. I'm not sure why, but this doesn't feel like that situation. This feels like the Bears are actually pretty good, and they actually should win this game. I expect them to lose one of these next very winnable games, but not this one. "us against the world" is certainly a real thing in football, but so is the expectation of a win. Teams that expect to win are going to have an easier time of it. This is not the same thing as overconfidence or boastful talk. The Bears are the better team against all of the afc west teams, and they should expect to go out and just win, but if becoming "media darlings" makes them overconfident and lazy, that's on the coaches. I don't see it happening.
