    I heard Len mention his passing on the game Monday. I remember meeting him, with Laura (and a couple of people we knew from WhatIf Sports) at a bar on Sheffield, a couple blocks north of Wrigley. As has been mentioned by everyone, just a nice, funny guy who loved the Cubs. Sorry for your loss CubmanPi, and NSBB.

    I always really liked Martinez. No idea what type of coach he is, but I don't think that's a horrible idea. It would be funny to see the Ryno sycophants go nuts after a different ex-cub gets the gig. One that loves blondes in corn cob dresses. I was going to say, one way to make sure Sandberg wouldn't come back to the Cubs would be to hire Dave Martinez. Imagine if the white sox hired Martinez and the Cubs hired Sandberg - how much fun would that be to see those two exchanging line-up cards during the Crosstown Classic?

    Win your division and they don't have to worry about pitching match-ups. That should be the first goal in this playoff scenario, win the division, if you don't you put yourself at a disadvantage.

    I really liked this one. I think this sums up what the Cubs need to do, and are capable of doing: "Develop your own talent and, if you sign a free agent, make sure he’s a star." I agree, a very good article except until the end when he leaves us with this: We have, it's the media that keeps hammering this every chance they get.

    Hopefully at some point near the end of the decade, we can look back on this draft as the Cubs version of the Bears 1983 draft.
