  1. Why would this be the Cubs breaking our hearts? All that Hendry can do is put up the best offer he can and it's up to Towers to decide. Not exactly like Dempster crapping the bed in Game 1.
  2. You would think so but I'm sure some posters won't get the message.
  3. I'd rather place blame on the guy giving him the NTC in the first place.
  4. "Show me a sick pharoah and I'll show you a nervous queen" - Arthur Diedrich
  5. I'm hoping Disney isn't involved in this. I hate every one of their recent sports movies - that syrupy, rags to riches, fudge what actually happened crap just panders to idiots.
  6. We could always crap our pants for the Cubs Howry will do enough of that for all of us.

  8. Since "peeing your pants" was taken...I'll grow the beard.
  9. I agree, getting that first win out of the way is so important. I'm more excited for this post-season than any of the previous playoff appearances. Just remembering what the atmosphere was like in 2003 around Wrigley is keeping me from worrying about a repeat of last year (yeah, I know 2003 didn't turn out well - different story this year).
  10. Mark Grace is dead to me.
  11. Living on the south side, just a mile away from The Cell, I would say that board is a fair representation of the Sox fanbase.
  12. Huh? What's the matter, you couldn't comprehend the sentence that preceded the one you quoted? Use the whole quote next time if you are trying to make a point.
  13. True, I like the Cubs chances of sweeping the Mets and the Dodgers and Phils going 5 better than the Cubs/Dodgers and Brewers/Phillies.
  14. But this goes on every day at that site.
  15. It's not like we made up the "inferiority complex" description of them out of thin air. It's amazing the level of irrational and idiotic ramblings over there. You don't see that type of dislike towards the Sox on any Cubs message boards.
  16. Sweet.
  17. Twins. Yay!
  18. I can complain about it because I don't give a rats ass about the nostalgia/old timey happy fun memoryness of day baseball at Wrigley. I care about 75% of the fanbase being able to see the game without having to miss work. I care about me seeing the game without having to miss work. It pisses me off. It's bs that the biggest ratings draw will likely be on at the worst possible time. I don't know how it can be nostalgic when they play over 1/2 their home games in the afternoon. I'm happy they are in the playoffs, home field throughout the NL portion and have a better team than any of the previous playoff appearances. So what if it's an inconvenience for you, if you really want to watch it, you'll find a way. I'm going to give you a pass because of the "Sunny" quote in your sig, but come on. Playoff games shouldn't be on at 12:30pm. And if it were just some small subsection of the fanbase that this was going to affect, and I was part of that, fine, but putting a game on at 12:30 isn't just a crap thing for me and like nearly every other fan who's a typical 9-5 office loser, but it's a dumbass business decision by TBS, because they are guaranteeing the worst possible ratings for their best possible draw. Yeah, it is a bad ratings decision and sure I wish it was on at a more accessible time. The comments just went a little overboard and Ithought a little perspective was in order. If, at the worst, you're stuck with listening to Pat & Ron and following along on the internet, that's far better than listening to any moronic broadcast team we get from TBS or the endless commercials for whatever TV show they are promoting. Listening on a radio at work is NOT better than watching it on TV. I would figure when push comes to shove, they'll push the Cubs to a prime time slot. I mean, more than likely, we're looking at LA or New York's market being involved in the match up too. Seems ridiculously stupid to promote the ALCS over taking the better ratings-grabber. What's the matter, short attention span?

  21. Playoff baseball at Wrigley in the sunshine? How the hell can you complain about that? That's perfect - listen to it on the radio or follow along on mlb.tv or whatever. I can't believe people are getting pissy about playoff times.
  22. Thanks. Maybe Cleveland can get a little revenge for that last weekend of 2005.
  23. Who is it against, does anyone know? They are up 1 1/2 on the Twins and have 2 left with them then 3 with the Indians this weekend, giving them 161 games. I don't see anything on the MLB schedule page.
  24. If they want to announce that Dusty will be their new manager after we win the World Series, I'll be fine with it.
  25. I'll take atmosphere over the mall anyday. Screw parking. Take public transportation. The last thing we need is more reason to drive places, idling in traffic for hours. Mallparks suck. Who is talking about a mallpark? All that land at where Cabrini Green will eventually not be, surrounded by a really cool upcoming neighborhood, closer to downtown with the skyline right behind the outfield. Not a chance, that land will be divvied up between friends and cronies of the Daley administration; it will be far too valuable for a ball park.
