  1. When did we get him back?
  2. Mostly, it's what I've heard or read about him in the media. Not that the media are always to be believed. Mostly, yes, it's his behavior. I wish I knew more about his offensive/defensive skills, but mostly, it's his behavior that scares me away from him. I guess it could be situational, but why take the chance on him being disruptive? 1) Because he would be very cheap. 2) Because of the numbers that this "chance" is capable of putting up. 3) Because Dusty is our manager and this is supposed to be what he is good at, and he might as well do 1 thing he's good at because we all know in game managing, bullpen use, and lineup making arent what hes good at.
  3. I dont know if I agree that this game is far more important to the Panthers. The Vikings have played better the last few games and still have a game left with the Bears and with the Bears upcoming schedule a win against at home vs Carolina is important. Im not arguing that Carolina isnt a better team but does anybody else find it funny how the Bears are torn apart because of their weak schedule, but Carolina has played a weaker schedule than the Bears, but many are picking them to go to the Super Bowl now? This game should show just how far the Bears have came since the Bengals game. I cant wait to see the Bears D vs the Panthers offense. The Bears have to get pressure on Delhomme to have a chance in my opinion. Also for those of us who are wanting Grossman to take over when he is back, he played in a 7 on 7 scrimmage today for the first time and said he felt pretty good. Still tageting the TB game, but said it might be the game vs the Pack.
  4. Thanks HHH, I was thinking to myself that I couldnt believe he really hadnt faced any of the big lefties in the Central. They dont look too bad but that Edmonds 4-6 I dont like at all but its still a pretty small sample size.
  5. Anybody have Eyre's stats vs. the big lefties in the division?Edmonds, Dunn, Griffey, Overbay, etc...?
  6. The thing I dont understand about this signing is what does it do to Ohman and Rusch? Does this mean Rusch is definatly starting? Does it mean Ohman is trade bait? There is no way in hell we go in(or should) to next season with 3 lefties in the bullpen. To me Ohman is pretty much the exact same thing as Eyre but hes cheaper and younger, so whats the point?
  7. Ah...Goony...you remind me once again why you're my hero. To everyone preaching that we wait and see how the off season unfolds before crucifying Hendry and company, that's the exact same mantra that's been bandied the last few seasons. I bought in last year, so any criticism I levy is a result of waiting for the non-existant difference making moves last winter. what does it matter anyway? if the cubs win it will not be because of us and if they lose it will not be because of us. i love the cubs as much as anyone but it's only a game (and one in which all of us are only spectators who have no real after effects of them winning or losing). for hendry it his his lifes work and his career. i'm sure hendry & his staff dont care one bit about a few fans think about him and his moves and neither would i if i were in his position. So why spend time talking about it? Personally I don't care how anybody goes about being a fan, whether they are a "true fan", a bandwagon jumper, a fair weather or whatever. I'm a Cubs fan who really wants to see the Cubs win. I get passionate about that desire, and because of that I talk passionately about the team's happenings. If somebody else wants to see the team do something else, I don't really care. What I don't understand is why so many feel the need to play amateur pyschologist and talk the rest of us off the proverbial ledge, rolling their eyes at our angst. If you don't have a problem with the moves the Cubs have made, good for you. I'd like to not be upset. But I am, and I am well within my rights to be upset at the team, and I don't think anybody is justified in trying to tell me how immature I am, or how knee-jerk I am acting, or how unfair I'm treating Hendry. My complaints are toward a group of men who have accepted very public roles making very public decisions. I'm not wasting time on this site in an effort to nit-pick the moves other "civilians" want to see happen, it's all about the Cubs and what they do. And to date, whether it be this offseason, or this regime's era, or my lifetime as a Cubs fan, the results have not been anywhere close to satisfactory. Goony, great post. That sums up my feelings perfectly, I couldnt have said it better myself.
  8. Agreed but Sweetney also needs to learn to quit fouling so often as well. If he can stay on the court for 30-40 mins a game the guy will average 20 and 10. His offensive game is awesome and he has a knack of finding the rebounds.
  9. 4 year 18.25 million is what the deal is for. Good deal for the Pirates.
  10. Maybe Ohman is going to be part of the packaging of Patterson, Walker and Hairston in future trades. I just dont see the point in getting pretty much an identical guy of Ohman and giving him a 3 year deal worth probably around 10 mil. Why not keep the guy whos making less money and probably has more upside. I just think its a waste of money that could be spent on other areas.
  11. Doesnt Will Ohman give you the exact same thing as Eyre? Also does this mean Rusch is definatly starting, because I really cant see us going into the start of the season with 3 lefties out of the pen. I would have thought Hendry would have learned his lesson giving 3 yr deals to relievers but apparently not.
  12. Please tell me that his splits aren't like Remlingers at least? I dont understand the point of this signing when we already have Ohman. Also does this pretty much guarantee that Rusch is starting because I highly doubt we carry 3 lefties in the bullpen. Money wasted if you ask me.
  13. Bulls get screwed with the refs saying the ball went out on Sweets and it went off on Ratliff. Bulls lose 96-93 damn is this circus trip a killer every year. :(
  14. Ratliff with the offensive board follow up dunk to take the lead by 1 with 8 secs. Lets go Bulls.
  15. Hinrich with the runner WOW. Bulls up by 1 with 15 sec.
  16. Bulls are up 89-88 with 2 30 to play. Sweetney has had a hell of a game with a double double, 24 points and 11 boards I think. If he could stay out of foul trouble and lose just a lil bit more weight he is a stud in there. His offense is awesome.
  17. WOW Bulls in foul trouble big time in the first quarter. Chandler, Sweetney, Gordon, and Hinrich all with 2 fouls. Portland is 13-15 from the line 5-15 from the floor. Bulls leading 27-25 with 45 sec in the 1st.
  18. Also Knicks vs Lakers is on ESPN just for those that want to see Curry pull his normal 4 rebounds. I hate both these teams but Im rooting for the Lakers tonight as I want the Knicks to lose as much as possible so the Bulls can get that lottery pick from them.
  19. Bulls off to a great start so far. They have taken 2 charges in the first 3 mins of the game and lead 6-0. I think Kirk is goin to have a good night.
  20. Arrgh Skiles is sticking with Songaila starting tonight instead of Deng. Deng really should be starting. Tblazers cant score very well so lets hope the Bulls win this one.
  21. I don't. When he plays the Falcons win. When he doesn't they lose. OK, maybe some people speak to highly of him, but he is a great QB, IMO. He played against the Pack this last Sunday and couldnt lead them to a win vs a pretty shaky Pack team. I wouldnt say hes a great QB, but I definatly would take him on the Bears
  22. Is that b/c Orton is having a good year or Vick is having a down year? Orton has done nothing to lock him in as the #1 when Grossman comes back. There would be a case if the passing game was clicking, but it hasn't done nothing. While the Bears do need a better #2 WR and TE, part of the problem has been Orton and should be corrected w/Grossman. http://www.nfl.com/stats/leaders/NFC/PRAT/2005/regular Agreed. If you throw Grossman in there I think there is very slim chance he does any worse than Orton has when it comes to throwing the ball. Orton has missed so many wide open recievers(and by about 10-15 yards). At worst Grossman gives you exactly what Orton does, but why not see if Grossman can come in and hit those guys down field that Orton has been over/under throwing all year. If Grossman can come in and hit those recievers down field then I could see the Bears winning a playoff game but as it stands right now the Bears can not beat really good teams by just running the ball every play, and having no down field threat.
  23. Sportsnight on Comcast is reporting that Deng will indeed start tonight in place of Songaila. Glad to see this move. Lets hope the Bulls forget about Monday nights pathetic showing and go back to playing Bulls basketball.
  24. Glenallen Hill was not a cant miss prospect for the Cubs. He wasnt even developed in the Cubs farm system. Jason Dubois was not a cant miss prospect either. If he was a "cant miss" then the Cubs would have never let him go to Toronto.
  25. Speculation out of LA seems to be pointing at Orel Hershiser as the next LA manager. Orel is who McCourt and Lasorda have wanted all along and was part of the reason Depodesta was fired because he didnt want Hershiser apparently. So there goes my dreaming Baker and Colleti would like to work again.
