  1. I read that 5 times and didn't understand what you were saying. But now that I read the first post I understand. Yeah at the Trop you can bring in your own food. Just not a case of beer!! Oh well. The Piniella years in Tampa will be looked upon as the turning point of this franchise. It's to bad he was here for the house cleaning but not the party yet to come. I predict a winning record next year for this team. With NYY, Boston, Baltimore and Toronto all in that division? Yes. Baltimore has some pieces but not the right pieces. The Blue Jays always seem like a decent team but don't have a name that I can even think of. Boston and New York have intense pressure and age working against them. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have nothing to lose and expectations are not high. Sounds like the 2003 Cubs to me. If the Rays get some arms, they have Beaz to close. That would close the distance if not even things up. The Rays are the fastest man-for-man team in all of the MLB. Plus alot of their young stars have been in the leauge now for 3 plus years. I see a big up-swing this year for them. Just MHO though. Umm Roy Halliday would like to say Hi. :D
  2. Ok Im surprised nobody else has brought this up so I will. Does anybody know what kind of a relationship Coletti and Baker had while they were in SF? Is there any way that Coletti might want Baker to come take the LA managers job? Since they have ties together I thought I would thow it out there.
  3. I was listening to XM Radio Home Plate on DirecTV today(by the way I am so excited that DirecTV switched to this instead of just music..really cool) but anyways one of the guys on there suggested they freeze the urine samples of the players. The reason being that sooner or later there will be a test for HGH and when that comes out then you go back and test for HGH on past and present players. He said if they implement this right now then players will fear that even though they can currently get away with using HGH sooner or later they will be caught and be humiliated like Palmerio. He said a Dr. has said that you can freeze the urine sample for a number of years and they would still be accurate. I kind of like this idea. Whats everybody elses thoughts?
  4. Well a pretty pathetic 3rd quarter showing tonight along with GS hitting everything has put the Bulls down by 19 going to the 4th. Not a good way to start out the road trip.
  5. Once again the Bulls go into the half being down by 13. They can not keep getting down like this to every team they play. Bulls are in foul trouble as well, but lets hope for the typical Bulls 2nd half.
  6. So whats everybodys predictions on the record for this trip? Im hoping for 4-2 but I think a 3-3 will still be a success as well. They have GS, San Antonio, Houston, Lakers, Trailblazers and somebody else that I cant remember off the top of my head. I think GS, Lakers, and Trailblazers are all games the Bulls "should" win along with maybe even Houston since they dont have Tmac right now.
  7. WOW, how in the hell does somebodys leg bend the way Bensons did, and NOT tear something. Thats pretty remarkable, as soon as I seen it I thought torn ACL,PCL, and MCL the way that thing bent. Good to hear though, and lets beat Carolina....
  8. Welcome to the board....even though you are a Cards fan
  9. Not me. The Cards got beat by the better team. Good teams make thier own luck, and the Astros did it 4 out of 6 games. I'm glad the Cards made it to the NLCS. No shame in that. That said, I hope the Sox win because it would be cool to see a WS winner in Chicago. Im glad that the Cardinal fans we have here reacted the way they did. After hearing the whining about the field, I just expected to hear some crying about the umpiring. But Ill tip my cap to you guys for acting the way you have, and Ill admit I was wrong. I agree the Astros took advantage when they could, and I dont think anybody would have hit Oswalt last night....he was NASTY.
  10. Thats true. St louis has great fans, but Chicago has great fans as well. I dont see how there is an way to distinguish which ones are "the best".
  11. How about after 6 games? :D Oswalt is a stud.....Way to go Stros!!!Let the excuses rule, best fans in baseball.
  12. Congrats Houston, and my god is Oswalt a stud. I wonder how long its going to take this thread to turn into a "best fans in baseball" whining and crying about the park, the umps, the 10pm start, or whatever bs excuse they can come up with. "Best fans in baseball" your season is now OVER!!! :D
  13. Wow this game couldnt have been better. Oswalt has completly shut down the Cards, the umps blow a call so now the cards "best fans" can cry and whine about losing, Mulder "chokes" and Jim"Maybeline"Edmonds completely bothces a simple play in center. This game has been Fantastic. Oswalt is a stud....wow. Go Stros!!
  14. Well, now we get to listen to the Cards"greatest fans in baseball" whine and cry about the umpires screwing them over being the reason they lose. If left field wasnt so short then Lanes home run wouldnt have been a home run...what a joke of a park   GO STROS!!!
  15. Stop saying "Cardinal fans", and show me one. Just one......... Show you one? There have been plenty of discussions regarding Sammys hop while he was here, and alot of the Cardinal fans always said how disrespectful and unsportsmanlike it was. If you want to wear your rose colored glasses about it thats fine, but its the truth. Reggie Sanders doesn't hop after every deep fly ball that he hits. You're reaching. Once again different standards.

  17. Berkman was running (in my opinion) because he hit a soft liner to left that probably felt like it should have been a long single. I imagine he was probably thinking about stretching it into a double. Pujols hit a home run. I think Berkman knew, he has hit enough wall scraping cheapies into those boxes to recognize one. I just don't like the bad ass stroll out of the box staring down the homer routine. I don't like it when ARam does it, I don't like it when Manny does it, and I don't like it when Pujols or others do it. At least jog for Pete's sake. If someone did that to me when I played ball, I'd have earholed him in his next AB. I agree. And you can go ahead and mark down Sosa's little 'homer hop' as one of those things as well. Very disrespectful, IMO. You might as well throw Reggie Sanders in there to because when he hit the homerun in the 1st inning he did the little hop also. Which of course no Cardinal fans have a problem with Im sure, but they were the first ones to be hammering Sammy for doing it. Once again it goes back to the Cardinal fans having different standards for their own, while knocking other players for things their own team does.
  18. Well, to be fair, the Astros DID tie for the best home record in all of baseball this year. And their record is even better when the roof is closed (holds the crowd noise), so they've made a point of closing the roof for this series. So their park does seem to have some quirky advantages that other parks don't. Still I don't consider that to be an "excuse". You play where you play........ you still have to get the job done. This isnt neccessarily directed at you but Its called HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE! That is the purpose of a home field. You are supposed to know the your home park there and take advantage of playing your home games there. I just dont get this bitching and moaning about the field being small that Im hearing a lot of Cards fans(not neccessarily you) I mean the fences are the same for both teams.
  19. Many fields have the "in any other park" factor. The bottom line is that's a bogus excuse, and completely ridiculous to bring up when insinuating the other team didn't deserve credit for the win. If I concede my post was bogus and ridiculous, can I still make the observation that it accounted for two runs in a one run game? My entire post listed a ton of factors that could have made for a different outcome, most importantly IMO the umpiring. Am I frustrated my team couldn't capitalize on its opportunities? Sure. I just wish that was the only reason we lost. I still stick by my original conclusion that I'm glad it wasn't the clincher and that it was a frustrating game for a multitude of reasons. The thing is you cant blame the umpiring for the Cardinals lack of hitting with runners in scoring position. They had a chance in the 9th to at least tie the game up, but for some reason Pujols was going on contact. Was that the umps fault? The play at first is irrelevant as it was a bang bang play and to say the ump blew that call is proposterous. Split second decisions can go either way, at least he didnt hesitate or anything. He made the call emphatically. The reasons the Cards are down 3-1 in this series are obvious.....Houston pitching, Houston pitching, Houston pitching.
  20. This has to be the most assanine excuse out of the Cardinal fans that I have ever heard. Give me a damn break. You both play in the same stadium at the same time. Its not like the walls come in for the Stros while they are up and move back for the Cards. I think some of you Cards fans whining about "the joke of a ballpark" need to quit bitching and moaning about the size of the park, and worry about hitting over .200 with runners in scoring position. You know, you're right. I think Cardinal fans are the only fans that have ever lodged a complaint about Minute Maid or nick named it the Juice Box, etc. If you don't watch the game last night and say "Hmmm, Lane's HR would have been an outfield fly and Rodriguez would have had a HR in any other park", then I don't know what to tell you. Think the fact that the Astros play 81 games in Minute Maid has anything to do with their familiarity with the park's dimensions? And the point of my post was not to rant on and on about one event, I pointed out about seven events that could have changed the course of the game, some of which were the fault of the Cardinals. As far as Jimmy getting tossed goes, I really don't have an opinion one way or the other. I think you should get a little more leeway in the playoffs personally. Let's face it, Edmonds argues balls and strikes a lot closer than that one was throughout the course of the season and I don't recall him being tossed once. My beef was the egregious call on ball four that would have left the bases loaded for Pujols. I'll "tip my cap" to the Astros when it's deserved as it was in Game 2 and 3, just not Game 4. Now if they win another game and advance to the World Series, I'll be rooting for them and I won't dwell on last night's game. I'm just glad last night's game wasn't the clincher for them. What does this have to do with the homeruns? So are you saying that the Stros use it to their advantage and try hitting the ball over the short fence in left? Hmmm thats a hell of a concept...short fence=easier to hit homerun....maybe the Cards should "get familiar with the parks dimensions" and "try" hitting it over the short left field wall instead of straight away center. Plain and simple both teams know the dimensions of the field and have the same advantage of the short left field fence....Its not an excuse.
  21. And as for Edmonds getting tossed, completely stupid on his part. You dont say what he said to an ump and not expect to get tossed. Was it a bad call...yea....do I blame him for questioning it .....no....but him being the veteran that he is, has to know that you cant get tossed in that situation, and the lil "f bomb" that came out was certainly enough to get him tossed. Between Larussa whining before Clemons start that he hopes that the umpire doesnt get to "caught up" in calling balls and strikes for Roger Clemons, and the whining about the field, and the umps this team is starting to remind of the the 2004 Cubs. If the Cards werent sucking with runners in scoring position(what like 3-36?) then the umpiring and the size of the field wouldnt mean a damn thing.
  22. This has to be the most assanine excuse out of the Cardinal fans that I have ever heard. Give me a damn break. You both play in the same stadium at the same time. 23. Im sure they caught 1 of the 20 replays of the home run.
  24. Charles Tillman is soooooo overrated its not even funny. The guy is consistently getting beat week in and week out.
  25. And sometimes its appropriate to say "Get over yourself" and I think this might be a perfect time.
