  3. You answered my question regarding your following of college basketball. Syracuse, Maryland and UConn have had down seasons since winning the national championship. They may not be as down now as Illinois but they were a couple years after winning their national championships. I don't think UConn made the tourney last year. In fact, you're making my point. Yes, last year was supposed to have been our "down" year. This time last year, we figured Smith and Carlwell would help us out a lot this year, and we figured Randle would be fully recovered over his injury and play as well as we hoped when he first came to Illinois. Sure would've been nice had Rose chosen Illinois instead of Memphis. Ive been following college basketball for long enough Mr High and mighty, thanks. No need to get huffy. I just made an honest challenge when you stated that UConn, Maryland and Syracuse didn't have down years following their national championship wins. No need to get huffy? You are the one basically talking down to me saying I answered your question regarding how long Ive follwed college basketball. Again those down seasons those teams are having are nothing compared to what the Illini are having.

  6. Again, its about Weber not taking full advantage of what was given him. Im not saying there was alot Weber could have done after Gordon screwed us, but where were the recruits the previous year? Since Weber has gotten to the Illini he has totally screwed up in recruiting until this recent storm of recruits for 09-10. And you say down year, but what was last year? Last year is really the worst it should ever get at a program like U of I. There is no excuse to have a year like this when you lose to Miami Oh, and Tenn St in non conference games, and then lose to freaking Penn St at home. Its unexcusable. The programs you listed are nowhere near in as bad as shape as the Illini are. Webers disregard for bringing talent in immediatly following the National Championship game is the cause for this year plain and simple.
  7. I don't place a big blame on Bruce. He's running the same style offense and defense as he did when we made it to the national championship game. It's not his fault that Randle sucks, even though athletically he's one of the best players night in night out. Had Indiana not fired Mike Davis we'd have Gordon and if Smith hadn't been stupid, that would've been a nice backcourt this year, plus Carwell on the inside. As I said before, I think McCamey should start and Alexander, but I'm not sure you'd see a big difference in terms of record with that lineup. We just don't have talent. Despite what some think, I don't think it was even in the plans to have Meachem starting. You say you dont place a big blame on Bruce but then say the bolded? Yes the Gordon situation set us back, but there is still no reason for the Illini to lack the talent like they do, and thats a direct reflection of the coach. Bruce fell asleep, and finally woke up. You responded as if Gordon is just an average player. How do you recover when a recruit like that rescinds his commitment? Again, you may have chosen to disregard a large part of my post regarding Smith and Carwell also missing. Did you really think that Randle would also suck the way he does? All of these reasons have little to do with Weber. I thought Randle would be a 17 pt/ 8 rebound a night guy. Too bad he is only able to spend about 17 minutes on the floor and can't shoot from the field nor the free throw line. I know Gordon isnt just an average player, but we should not have had all our eggs in one recruits basket. Do you think losing Gordon the way we did would have hurt the elite programs in the country the way it did us? Just what 3 years ago we were in the National Championship game, and Bruce hasnt used that to help us out at all. Smiths situation sucked you are right I dont fault Bruce for that. Continuing to count on Randle to produce is basically like the Cubs continuing to count on Wood and Prior to produce. Again, there is no reason for the cupboard to be so bare, when just 3 years ago we were playing in the National Championship.

  9. Bruce Webers actual post game comments today, "We suck right now". Well, Bruce, you are a big part of the reason why we suck right now,
  10. Frazier off the bench for defense? DId you see his "defense" against Ohio State? The same guy who burnt him for 30+ went scoreless for Ohio State in their next game lol.
  11. We are going to be lucky to win 5 games in the Big Ten. We might beat Michigan and Minnesota, but I wouldnt be surprised if we didnt. This teams not going to any tournament, and yes it sucks ass. Minnesota? They're one of the best five teams in the league. Not saying you can't beat them, but no way should they be grouped with Michigan. Yea not real sure why I put Minny in there except that the 1 time i sen them this year they didnt look too impressive.
  12. Will Jan 09 be THAT much better? I can't imagine why IG responds to you with shots at Sampson when you ask questions. Illinois under Weber is a guard oriented team. Adding Legion and Smith are huge additions. We'll infinitely increase the number of guys on the team who can make a damn jump shot. It was an honest question. I don't know Illinois like you do. I know you lose Pruitt and Randle. They aren't worldbeaters but they are decent. I know all your young guys are 2010 or later, that why I wondered about 09. That is why I asked the question. Quit looking so deep into things, I was honestly curious. You do understand why most Illini fans dont take too kindly to IU fans asking questions that could be deemed as shots right? This isnt like somebody from Purdue asking if 09 will be that much better. 2nd semester 09 will definatly be alot better than right now. Legion and Smith at least give the Illini 2 guards who have scoring potential, and the young bigs this year will have another year of experience. Right now this Illini team has nobody plain and simple. I do understand that, but just because I am an IU fan isn't going to stop me from asking questions. I had forgotten about Smith. BUt I would be concerned about how he will come back and adjust to being THE guy, instead of the 3rd option. I had no problem with the question as I assumed you werent being an ass, but as Exile said, it could have been taken that way. If Legion is as good as his hype, Jamar wont need to be The guy.

  15. Will Jan 09 be THAT much better? We will at least have an actual D1 guard on the floor
  16. Ive been watching womens pool on ESPN, thats how uninteresting thus game is. I mean did anyone really think TB would win this game?
  17. June Jones has resigned at Hawaii. Going to SMU? http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3183007
  18. I wonder how much money Roger offered Mcnamee in their supposed phone conversation Sat night.
  19. Weeks was a stud in the 2nd half. Our offense is not going to be what makes us better than the Brewers. Weeks was a stud in the 2nd half, after being a complete dud in the first half. So much so, he got sent down. So which Weeks will show up? DeRosa's numbers wont be that far from Weeks. I agree our offense wont be what makes us better than the Brewers, but I dont think there will be as large as gap this year as there was last year. Weeks had an injured wrist the first half I believe. Last year was the most games Weeks has ever played in at the ML level. Before that he hadnt broke 100. I think Weeks probably tops out around a 800 OPS guy which isnt that far ahead of DeRosas capability. I also think its funny Perry mentions Kapler off the bench as being some kind of big deal.

  21. By 10. Nah, we'll win this one. You have alot more confidence in this team than I do
  22. OK I left to go get a sub right after Wash recovered that kick. I was gone for maybe 5-10 mins and the score is now 28-14? What the hell
  23. Cedeno/Theriot is also very likely to be a black hole. I don't think it matters all that much. Well Cedeno has at least put up numbers(albeit in the minors) that suggest he could be something other than a black hole. Theriot/Cintron however, would just be brutal. Although all this wouldnt matter if we could get Roberts, and slide DeRosa to SS. But that wont happen.
  24. New? Please define new. Yea sorry I worded that wrong. Should have read "still have a black hole at SS". Not really sure why I said new.
  25. How about we dont give up Cedeno in a deal for Roberts. If we do, and Theriot/Cintron are our SS's for the year, we have a new black hole on offense.
