  1. Zobrist has played some CF, no? :-k :-k Everybody needs some time off. Zobrist gives everyone but Baez that, and Russell becomes late inning defensive replacement,
  2. Don’t need to. Just keep taking care of business.
  3. The one Thursday was a curve ball up.
  4. I know the streak everyone was talking about was games with ONLY 1 solo HR. But I wonder if anyone keeps track of consecutive games with AT LEAST one solo HR? I haven't checked, but I think that one is still active. BTW it stands at 9.
  5. Switch officially flipped.
  6. Don’t act like you know me. I simply think what he said was very different than what Hader said. I’ve had some great civilized dialogue with several here via private message, but have refused to derail this thread. Please respect that. Edit: although given the thread title, I suppose it was destined to be somewhat other than completely baseball related. I am trying to honor Tim’s admonishment though. Edit edit: HR Bote!
  7. He's already down to 750 OPS against RHP for the season and pretty weak overall in the second half while Murphy is 830 vs RHP and scorching hot in the second half. I don't think they'll be riding the Bote train over Murphy much at all. That's kind of why they got him. I think they got him because it is questionable what they'll get from Bryant the rest of the year. He fills the gap until Bryant is as close to 100% as he'll get. Then he's insurance on Bote as well. If everything goes right, I don't think he (Murphy) starts much. I think I've given sufficient caveats as to the many things that could go "not right".
  8. I think about half assuming Bote keeps it up (quite an assumption, I know) When Bryant returns, Bryant (as often as he's able), Heyward, Rizzo and Baez start everyday. That means you have 3 spots for Schwarber, Almora, Happ, Zobrist, Bote and Murphy. I'd say Zobrist, Schwarber, and Bote are your 3 most days. have you watched any cubs games since the walkoff grand slam? bote hasn’t played that much and has been terrible. Like I said, if he proves to not be an actual god by the time Bryant is back, this all changes. The league has made an adjustment. He has time to make an adjustment. Murphy is great insurance if he doesn't. Also, I forgot Russell existed in my previous post.
  9. I think he starts until Bryant returns (assuming Bryant is not actually dead). Then, I think Bote starts ahead of him, unless or until Bote is found out to not be an actual god. I don't think there will be many games with a righty on the mound and Bote starting with Murphy sitting. I think about half assuming Bote keeps it up (quite an assumption, I know) That's half-ish vs righties. and most all vs. lefties. (plus days Bryant rests, Bote moves back to 3B) When Bryant returns, Bryant (as often as he's able), Heyward, Rizzo and Baez start everyday. That means you have 3 spots for Schwarber, Almora, Happ, Zobrist, Bote, Russel and Murphy. I'd say Zobrist, Schwarber, and Bote are your 3 most days.

  11. There are other players I would prefer, namely players that don't play 2B (poorly), but you can't argue with the price. Worst case isn't he a better La Stella? This is how I see it. All these lineups that include Murphy but not Bote are missing the point of this acquisition IMO. If Bote somehow falters, Murphy is a great backup plan; unless and until that happens he’s a nice bat off the bench. I’d like to see Bote at 2B, Bryant at 3B, Z in RF. Z at 2B, Bote 3B, Kris in RF is fine too.
  12. I hope you’ll engage me via private message. I’m genuinely interested in deeper understanding. what else is there to understand? I’ll share the same private message with you. I’ll encourage anyone else to reach out to me the same way. I don’t want to dance on the edge of Tim’s zero tolerance policy any further. I’m perfect happy to engage in dialogue though.
  13. I’m not sure what I’m missing here. The remarks linked suggested that while he has different viewpoints he saw value “investing relationally” with people he disagrees with. That doesn’t sound homophobic at all. Quite the opposite. Totally different mindset than Hader and others. There aren't viewpoints to have. He said he disagreed with the lifestyle. A) It's not a lifestyle B) There is nothing to agree or disagree to It's how bigots used to soft touch their bigotry. Nowadays most of 'em don't even think you need to bother hiding it. I hope you’ll engage me via private message. I’m genuinely interested in deeper understanding.
  14. Yeah, but the fact that Murphy spoke publicly about it and potentially made it harder on closet gay teammates (not to mention gay fans) puts him in a different class of awful. I’m not sure what I’m missing here. The remarks linked suggested that while he has different viewpoints he saw value “investing relationally” with people he disagrees with. 15. Not sure. Have his waivers expired yet?
  16. I feel like this is a great time to reference my 15 minutes of internet fame, and my 2016 trip to Busch VII This guy sat three rows in front of me.
  17. I’ve been really positive over the whole season, believing the starters will come around, Yu, Bryant and Morrow will be like adding three all stars come Sept 1, etc. Now, I’m less confident. The playoffs are still a crapshoot, but I feel like the Cubs just lost their Ace in the hole. (Sorry for the mixed gambling metaphors)
  18. Because he’s hitting like a pitcher since the break.
  19. There are tons of idiot, racist, sexist, mysogynist cubs fans. That there are more racists in southern Illinois and Missouri than in Chicago seems quite likely. Impossible. There are more racists in Chicago than there are PEOPLE in southern Illinois and Missouri.
  20. I'd agree. Or even Happ at 2nd in place of Zo. Bote played significantly more 2B than 3B in the minors. why not go Bryant, Baez, Bote at 3B, SS, 2B respectively?
  21. I think that cuts off too soon; maybe I was laughing too hard at the time, but I thought Strop kinda finally cracks up a bit. Nope. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  22. Wait until someone tells the inbreds that Mexicans eat salsa and that it is a Mexican food. At least last year they all would dine on the rally squirrel with no regrets. It's okay though. Yadi is a Mexican, and Taco Bell is yummy.
  23. Additionally, he has not been awful.
  24. You could also use those words to describe Milwaukee. I'll take the 2 game lead and the superior talent elsewhere. I really don't care about Milwaukee; when I saw "the season" I'm talking about the end result in the playoffs, not whether or not they make it. This is kind of the point here. We have reached them point where playoffs are a given, making it to the NLCS is a very familiar place and only a WS appearance can be looked at as “success.” For me, that’s a pretty good place to be. If you genuinely believe that the playoffs are a crapshoot, you’re pretty happy this year. They may not have the talent to walk into the playoffs favoured, but they are walking in. And with this monster offends, anything can happen.
