  1. above .500 (4/7) on this west coast trip should be considered success. with the Cubs 14-2 against the western division, and the roll they're on, I expect nothing less that 6 of 7.
  2. Dudes a gamer. He's the spark that gets the rest of the team going. Those other guys may have the numbers, but players like Ellsbury are invaluable. So on and so forth, rabble rabble rabble. So does being a "gamer" not add any value to a team? OOOOH boy ......here we go.
  3. has a losing or .500 record against the NL East and the NL Central. How bad is that division. This also sheds light on Arizona's record. Outside that horrible division, they are also horrible.
  4. It'll never happen, but I say put him in the 3 spot
  5. I am pretty certain you can't walk on less than 4 pitches and that, assuming you don't swing, you can't walk on any more than 6. this message from the department of redundancy department.
  6. Lets also keep in mind that the Cubs are shooting for .500 on the road tonight. they can't be sub500 on the road at the end of the year.
  7. It don't matter, CT, 'cause we can win more. Still, it's more comfortable if the other teams lose. I like it when the division is good. It erases that stigma of, "yeah the Cubs are in first, but its in the lowly NL Central". Shows that the Cubs are the class act in a classy division.
  8. Provis: [umpire] with a delayed call. Strike one. Santo: Yeah that call was a little.......................delayed.
  9. Not quite that bad, but yeah he had some BABIP mojo going for him today, especially on line drives. yes that bad. Lots of warning track flies as well.
  10. Yeah, it's at 1:20. I do miss the 2:20 Friday starts though. 1:20 central time 2:20 real time
  11. Basically any lineup with Macias and Neifi 1-2 and blanco behind the dish.
  12. that's what vance should have done instead Supposedly he had a huge rant yesterday. I must have missed it, because I don't think I've seen him around today. Which Vance?
  13. Marginally. Kosuke doesn't ask for much, but he did ask to play right field. What does it hurt?
  14. hmm gotta figure milwaukee and St louis' pitchers hitting in the 8 spot if ou're gonna make that statement.
  15. In play run(s)...gameday spoils it again
  16. ... HI DAVE OTTO! I thought Ron was supposed to be back by now. He is... It's not Otto. It's the guy that comes in for a little while for Pat. Corey Provis sp?
  17. Comrade! I clicked on that link just before the national anthem...freaky don't do that! what? that anthem is better than ours. I forgot you are the resident communist. Shouldn't you like a communist board then?
  18. Comrade! I clicked on that link just before the national anthem...freaky don't do that!
  19. With all due respect to Bruce, I think even he would agree that people are allowed to have differing opinions about things. Now obviously he's more in the know, and might have some sort of knowledge about why Pie was never given a shot, or why Edmonds was better than his numbers in SD, but even then, this isn't a communist board where everyone is supposed to think alike. no, i beg to differ. it is a communist board because we're all supposed to be meatballs and hate edmonds or get flamed. there are those who would have you think so...but they will be eliminated soon.
  20. No, because Bruce is wrong. not wrong...just playing nice/not burning bridges.
  21. wow, lighten up... mostly a joke mostly
  22. This is a sad, sad day in Cubs history. Its like they sold their soul. I've often pontificated that the fates would require the death of Wrigley before they would grant a Cubs WS win. This is so much worse that it almost guarantees that this is the year. So the question is....is it worth it?...what would you give for a WS win?
  23. Yeah but Edmonds is gritty ... :hello: Of course..This Cubs organization is to obsessed with buying low and expecting these guys to ressurect their career and become phenomanal by joining the Cubs..Wade Miller,Lieber, Etc..I hope I am wrong and Edmonds becomes a RHP killing machine but I don't see it happening. But if 2005 Edmonds come back, I would be happy as hell. Outfielders can't be gritty. He goes all out, gives 110%, leaves it all on the field, plays the game the right way, and is a "baseball player" however.
  24. As I understand it he's cleared waivers therefore, no team has put in a claim meaning all Hendry has to offer is the league minimum. just because he CAN offer league minimum, doesn't mean he WILL. The teams didn't pass on Edmonds, they passed on him at his current salary. THe OP is saying that Hendry is thinking that SURELY a lot of other teams are interested in him at a reduced rate, so Hendry will outbid himself.
  25. this tells me a deal is close and the new owner said "no deal unless I get both" Zell wouldn't do this if it didn't = $$
