  1. I'm okay with that. And with a large enough outlier, the chances that the estimation of odds is off is far more likely than just being a mere outlier.
  2. I won't be wrong. I wasn't wrong tonight, was I? 1-for-1 in being right. I'll be right two more times and while you are feeling horrible that the Blackhawks lost, I'll be feeling horrible but also knowing that I was right. Is that better? Well, not really. That's where it sort of breaks down... If you, or anyone else, took this sort of mentality about a World Series between two random non-Cub teams all the stat geeks here would rightly be jumping down your throats about sample size and other stuff. This isn't so different then that. The stats geeks can shove it. About to be six straight Final losses. This time after being up 2-0 at home, a position from which 31 of 33 teams have gone on to win, plus a third-period lead in game 3. The odds of winning from there had to be over 95%, and they are in the process of blowing it. Cubs were in a position where stats geeks tell us they were more than 99% to win the NLCS and still lost. Then the stats geeks tell us it's incredibly improbable that any team could lose nine straight playoff games by multiple runs. But it happened. Sit on it, stats geeks.
  3. I wasn't really ready to call it a choke until the end, I just knew other people would. But that was chokerriffic at the end. Your posts between the 2nd and 3rd period suggest otherwise. Could you quote it?

  6. I was right tonight. I'll be right two more times.
  7. Two of our three goals came on a deflection off a Flyers' stick and a weird play where it got caught in a defenseman's pants and he backed it into the net. How much more puck luck do you want?
  8. The Philadelphia pressure is what causes those bad defensive breakdowns.
  9. For fans of every team but the Blackhawks, this is turning into one of the great finals of all time. Four games, four one-goal games excluding empty-netters.
  10. What game were watching tonight? Extend that 3rd period and the Hawks get 3 more- easy. That's easy to say and hard to do. When the other team is sitting on a lead, every team looks great.
  11. Then you would be the type of betting man that Vegas loves. If you think the Flyers deserve prohibitive favorite type odds you are high off your ass. Vegas doesn't care, they make money no matter who bets on what. The spreads are insane. But yeah, Flyers win this series with little doubt.q
  12. Evened out? It was 6-3 in favor of the Flyers I think 5-3 while the game was in doubt, and the 5-on-3 plus additional time after the goal counted as one long one.
  13. I was really tempted to make a decent-sized wager at Flyers +450 for the series after game 3.
  14. LOL, fake rally. Can't blame puck luck, we got plenty. Can't blame refs, they handed us a 5-on-3 and the penalties mostly evened out. We just flat-out lost to a team that is going to win two more.
  15. Alcohol. That's how I'm releasing. Once you let go of the idea that they might win, you don't need a release. I needed one in game 3, but I knew this was coming tonight.
  16. Technically, yes. Actually, no. Flyers get away with borderline stuff, we get frustrated and do something huge and stupid.
  17. And two of the three are Blackhawks teams.
  18. It's just a tied series, it's still good, it's still good.
  19. Philly's response will be to just leave Pronger on the ice for both lines.
  20. I've noticed that as well, bouncing like a super-ball on them. It's the Flyers in their face. Other teams respect the Hawks' ability to stretch and create breakaway chances, so they aren't as aggressive. The Flyers know Pronger and company will bail them out, so they go balls out.
  21. Not that I'm condoning or applauding the Hawks for it, but man... would be hard for me to sit back and watch PHI get away with pretty much murder, and not do anything about it. And of course, retaliation automatically means a CHI penalty. Screwed if they do, and screwed if they don't. You are pretty much only screwed if you do.
  22. Really? During their multiple PP's what did they get two shots? Hawks cared they play otherwise. The Hawks care. They just aren't good enough.
  23. Toews isn't finishing and he's not doing well against one of the top defensemen in the league. His linemates are giving him little to know help either. I don't know if you should call it a choke, but that's how it'll be remembered.
  24. At least we only have to put up with this for two more games. Go ahead and lose Game 5 because I don't want this to go 7 and have Philadelphia celebrating in the United Center.
