    The vast majority of drafts, the player you get at one is *way* better than the player you get at five.

    It could be that my memory is playing tricks on me after all these years, but I believe at this time in 2000, Prior was an interesting high first-round college arm, but not a once-in-a-decade prospect. Everyone on the old Prospero boards was hoping to see the Cubs get the top pick and take Teixeira.

    A 3.86 FIP would rank him 66th among starters. I think it's reasonable to be disappointed by that level of performance after it looked early in the year like he might be able to sustain something much better.
