  1. The Jay Jackson bullpen rebirth continues to look very, very interesting.
  2. Vitters' O-swing% is very surprising to me. The numbers in the article are interesting. The analysis? Meh, he seems to be just eyeballing and saying "this feels about right."
  3. Vitters OPS: 837 Gameday has Rizzo's flyout at 404 feet to a 405-foot part of the park.
  4. OH, well that rules all of you bozos out. Good luck :) I would have been perfect but I only use OpenOffice Calc.
  5. I think at this level, the scouting reports are going to matter a lot more than his results. So I guess the answer would be "Look like a top-100 prospect"?
  6. The vast majority of drafts, the player you get at one is *way* better than the player you get at five.
  7. It could be that my memory is playing tricks on me after all these years, but I believe at this time in 2000, Prior was an interesting high first-round college arm, but not a once-in-a-decade prospect. Everyone on the old Prospero boards was hoping to see the Cubs get the top pick and take Teixeira.
  8. I seem to recall that Miller showed up to camp out of shape and never got his stuff together since.
  9. Peoria about to get underway at home, but it's a Concepcion night, so it'll probably be an hour or so before we get more Baez.
  10. The burnout from Boston will wear off in a few years and he'll be ready to accept the pressure of winning again. Everyone read this, right? http://www.boston.com/yourtown/newton/articles/2012/06/14/q__a_with_theo_epstein_on_red_sox_and_cubs/ It may well be worth it in the long run, but unless he's playing an epic bluff, we're not getting any major free agents and a push for winning anytime soon.
  11. I didn't bring up that sample. TT did. Take it up with him.
  12. A 3.86 FIP would rank him 66th among starters. I think it's reasonable to be disappointed by that level of performance after it looked early in the year like he might be able to sustain something much better.
  13. So it turns out you can't just make a TOR starter appear out of nowhere by converting an interesting reliever. :(
  14. Up-to-the-minute update: OPS Josh Vitters .821 Brett Jackson .820 I don't know why I have such a compulsive need to compare the two, but I do.
  15. I feel like this girl took crazy pills before her interview I totally would.
  16. Well sure, we'd all like that. But if he can keep maintaining his performance at higher and higher levels, that's alright too. Because there's only one more level to go.
  17. Jackson was called out on strikes in his latest at-bat. I think it only counts as brettjacksoning if he does it swinging.
  18. Not until he stops brettjacksoning so much.
  19. Jackson can't make contact against advanced pitches. He's going to see a few of those in the majors.
  20. If a 15.8% K rate is too high, the bar is set a little high. Oops, that was meant to be Jackson.
