  1. Suddenly all Baez can do is homer and walk. Cool.
  2. It's felt like he's failed to make a decent chunk of plays that technically weren't errors.
  3. It's no "Corner Gas." You never been to Rouleau, SK? Now that's a vacation.
  4. I got through about six episodes of Cheers on Netflix a few months ago. It was good, but it just didn't stick.
  5. Holy [expletive] and I thought Castro was bad. Castro's wOBA is 10 points higher, but Andrus is much better defensively and is probably having the better season :(
  6. Cubs have gotten 0.1 fWAR from the combination of Rizzo and Castro.
  7. Castro down to .607. I think off the top of my head that might be a season low.
  8. You were trying to measure whether "being a statistical indicator that the team is nearing a break-through that will send them to the playoffs." You selected a sample of teams made up entirely of those who made the playoffs.
  9. Isn't this a gigantic selection bias?
  10. Dang. That is a depressing song. And yet, the more I think about it, the perfect theme song for this season.
  11. Because he's striking out 5.2/9 in AAA at 27 years old. They're basically the same age, and one is dominating MLB hitters and one is getting by on an abnormally HR rate against AAA hitters.
  12. You do realize you can't just do that, right? Well, we'd have to expose him to waivers and/or give him the opportunity to decline the assignment, right? Sounds pretty doable. I think he would pass through waivers at this point. Not too many teams would be willing to pay the remainder of his salary for a sketchy 7/8th inning guy with horrible control issues and a serious case of the yips. If he declines the assignment, is the club off the hook for his salary? Yes. See Stewart, Ian.

  14. It's fun seeing fans hit the breaking point. There have been others and there will be more.
  15. What you guys have to remember is that if you take out the first two weeks and also a few other appearances, he was almost league average coming into today.
  16. I was on the way home and turned it on the radio just as the bottom of the 9th started. It was pure comedy. Hughes' voice sounded like he was half on the verge of laughter and half on the verge of tears.
  17. Blackburn 1 H, 0 BB, 7 K through 4.
  18. Now we're stuck with a 2+-win outfielder on a team-friendly option for 2014. #failedintoawin
  19. This is like the baseball version of last night's hockey game except also meaningless.
  20. Is he doing a ranking there or listing a top 5 in any order? Seems plausible that that could be a ranking. It looked to me like he was responding to someone asking for an in-order ranking. Cubs at No. 2.
