  1. We'll have to wait and see what the players sign for, but it seems for now that for the second straight year, the Cubs have flipped the bird to the "target big overslots outside the first round" strategy. :good:
  2. Because a couple of pundits didn't put a low enough number in front of his name, and people think that getting a guy with a pundit's ranking superficially lower than the spot you are picking in the middle rounds means you win the draft.
  3. But the point is well taken. After the euphoria of avoiding TINSTAAPP starts to wear off, you really do have to stop and realize how little pitching we have coming forward. No more "Well, you have to include Appel or Gray" every time we talk about what we might have for 2014.
  4. Yuck. I'm happy with Bryant pick tonight, but it's disheartening to know that right now Pierce Johnson is the entirety of the Chicago Cubs pitching farm system. I don't really have a lot of faith in Vizcaino's health. Paniagua, Maples.
  5. well you're mad about everything Well what happened to drafting impact guys? This guy has 5th starter written all over him. You can't draft impact guys in the second round. I mean, occasionally you'll hit the magic draft lottery, but there's no way to consistently do it.
  6. *checks against lists made by people who hopefully aren't nearly as good at this as our front office* This sucks!
  7. If Soler were hitting in AA, I'd probably put him ahead of Bryant. But I don't expect Bryant to have problems with A+, and their scouting grades seem so similar with Bryant a touch ahead on power and able to play 3b potentially.
  8. our top 4 hitting prospects are pretty insane Vogelbach is still the best hitter in the system. Then he should probably stop getting outhit by so many guys.
  9. Yeah, I was just getting ready to pose the "Rank our top 4 prospects" question. I go: Bryant Soler Almora Baez But I could easily be swayed to flop the first two. It's very close.
  10. I expect some heated debate over whether Soler or Bryant is a better prospect, with Soler winning at first but evening out once Bryant gets some pro time under his belt.
  11. Good, but he got IBB'd a ton so his BB rates oversell it.
  12. Power is the new market inefficiency. It's the OBP of the 2010s.
  13. So instead of highlights, we immediately ruin his image by showing what a goofy young kid he is. Thanks, ObamaMLB Network.
  14. Astros got smart and went away from the extreme underslot strategy.
  15. Everything's blowing up on the net to say Appel/Bryant go 1-2 in that order.
  16. It was in the weak WCC. We, as a fandom, are going to be downplaying that very soon, maybe.
  17. Gray, easily. Bryant wouldn't disappoint me at all. Pitchers are scary. I hate drafting pitchers in the first round. I mean maybe you have to in a year like this, but it's followed by three years of worrying every start might end up with him holding his forearm and making a face.
  18. If by some accident real information got out in the next 100 minutes, it'd be impossible to tell it apart from all the disinformation being spread by teams and agents. I'm still enjoying it, too, though.
