  1. I'm really hoping him, Hendricks, and Alcantara are all up from the ASB forward this year. I'm guessing he gets the first shot once Hammel or Samardzija is traded. Hopefully Ramirez gets the second spot. Wada would seem to be first in line now that he's on the 40-man.
  2. It's taken forever to get here and the plan is still dumb, but Bryant, Baez, Alcantara, Hendricks, Rivero, Vizcaino is pretty sexy for a "first wave."
  3. Armando Rivero K'd 3 of his first 4 in AAA.
  4. I'll go 1-1 draw, with Portugal dominating play but having finishing issues.
  5. On the first question, definitely, but we'll have to play very well. On the second question, *maybe*, but a Ghana win against Portugal and a US loss to Germany would leave us counting goal differential and hoping for the best, and probably a meltdown among US sports fans demanding that H2H be the first tiebreaker.
  6. Nevermind, he was totally out. Way to suck at sliding, Starlin.
  7. They aren't gonna overrule that, it's too close.
  8. Get some friends together, a stopwatch, and test it out.
  9. If BABIP had been more widely understood, Orie would have settled in as a solid regular for a long time.
  10. Jed Hoyer sure did set up that organization for sustained success. You don't get to blame past FO's for the current state of the team considering your whole thing is that Byrnes should have had enough time to do things his way. Yes, that's the point.
  11. Jed Hoyer sure did set up that organization for sustained success.
  12. *sees Iowa has a runner on base and Javy is up* *gets distracted for a couple of minutes, comes back to see 2-0* Dammit, Valaika.
  13. The closer this gets to game time, the more oddly confident I feel in a US result.
  14. I'm not super hype about Wada, but I'm just barely intrigued enough to look forward to it.
  15. I'm a big fan of anything that acknowledges that hitting is mostly trying to get your bat in the vicinity of the ball and squaring up is mostly luck.
  16. There's still something oddly sexy about Ronald Torreyes' skillset. He's now 21 in AAA, striking out just 6.3% with a 296/351/377 line. If I were building an MLB roster, it'd be neat to have him on the infield bench hitting like 270/310/320 and being able to pinch-hit him in situations where contact is more valuable than normal.
  17. Yeah, I think they'd be asking for Saad to start. Sure. Every team that the Hawks talk to starts with Saad. But then the conversation moves to players that are actually available. The point is that Kesler has taken away the Nucks' leverage so they either have to take what the Hawks offer or hang on to a player that wants out. Doing the latter isn't nearly as onerous enough to force them to take terrible value. This reminds me of all the post-2010 talk when people were making horrible trade proposals because "The Blackhawks are in cap hell, they have no leverage!"
  18. ONE no one's watching TWO he gets ripped when he does nothing wrong so why the hell should he care about this? He didn't do anything wrong on the hesitation either, he was just making sure he didn't make an out of control throw. But the beat writers saw it, and now he's *really* gonna pay. He might want to consider whiteface.
  19. Castro better pray that doesn't get overturned on replay or he's gonna get destroyed for that little hesitation.
