  1. I really don't think the Brewers are going anywhere. If they could somehow make a run in the postseason, it would be amazingly hilarious.
  2. They've got tons of young talent in the pipeline and their potential cap casualties like Sharp or Bickell have tons of trade value still. I'd rather have a higher cap, but I really don't think they are in that bad a shape.
  3. Alcantara really might just be up soon.
  4. For their careers, nobody maintains a .370 BABIP period.
  5. I'm not like dancing in the streets over this, but the Blackhawks have a deep set of young players and their cap-heavy assets are still very tradeable, so I'm not exactly cliff-jumping over it.
  6. I'm glad I never bought into the "we're going to get a 2c" hype. We never *really* mean it and are always fine without one. (now watch us go get Statsny)
  7. The day of the draft, immediately after the pick was made: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=62952 viewtopic.php?f=9&t=61785&start=1900 I spent the time leading up to the draft with the consistent opinion that I hoped that they would find a hitter they liked despite the consensus that the hitters weren't top-4 quality, so of course I was happy when they did. I say enough stuff that turns out to be wrong without you trying to spin me into positions I never took, such as that I didn't like them taking Schwarber.
  8. hey wait a second Wait as many seconds as you want, the record will show that I unequivocally liked the pick. I would have preferred it if he'd been higher regarded and commanded a better bonus, but (and forgive me if I exaggerate slightly) all hitters > all pitchers forever.
  9. Stanton? I'm gonna be stupid and say no to that.
  10. Bryant adds a double in the second game. This is the best night for our farm hitters all year that I can recall.
  11. This is the part where we run a hot streak to get to 9 games under and I start to dream of respectability again.
  12. I don't even care I want Manny on the MLB club in September.
  13. It could be avoided if he'd stop turning the ball over so much. They aren't just imagining his poor form.
  14. Holy balls. I knew Schwarber was getting hits every night but I just looked and his OPS is like 1.700 and we're 12 games in.
  15. I *really* didn't expect him to be this good this fast, even though I liked the pick. I mean, how could he be, for how little he signed? Imagine how awesome he'd be if he commanded full slot. He'd be even with Bryant.
  16. I *really* didn't expect him to be this good this fast, even though I liked the pick.
  17. I think you meant "profoundly erotic." What in God's name is wrong with you. If getting uncomfortable boners seeing Frozen is wrong, then I just can't be right. On-topic: Schwarber and Almora both with hits tonight. I can't remember the last time none of our best hitters had an 0-fer on any given day.
  18. Wasn't there a rumor we offered Pujols 5/$150m?
  19. I think you meant "profoundly erotic."
  20. It's a little more complicated than that, there's this whole weird formula. But basically, yeah, a guy retiring in the middle of a long contract leaves you with a dead cap hit that you don't want. Blackhawks may have to worry about it with Hossa.
  21. And two BBs. Good things are happening at Iowa. Even Javy got a hit and only struck out in half his at bats.
  22. Dutch uniforms against Korea are awesome.
  23. Cubs backup catchers: 6 Ian Stewart 5 But he did manage to hang around the league for a bit longer.
