  1. I'm pretty sure my kid would eat nothing but pirate's booty if allowed
  2. I had no idea Zastryszny was up. I would have guessed like AA.
  3. They haven't done that yet. But Epstein really is a player development god so he can take pretty much an approach and succeed.
  4. it was explained to me yesterday that the difference between living in California and living in North Dakota is a lot less time to spend on a message board because there is actually stuff to do in CA. or maybe it's b/c we're not terrible. it doesn't take a ton of time on kyle's post history to see that he's active when the cubs are struggling ("still a good chance this team doesn't win 90 games") and less active when they're doing well (he's bored with the winning). Maybe what we're seeing is: Successful Cubs = Less Kyle. That is part of it. I do love doom bonering. Also my kid keeps breaking computers and phone posting is a pain. Simplifying to a single reason is going to reductive. I'm around.
  5. I remember sneaky being a big advocate that Alcantara would be better than Baez, but I don't remember Kyle writing anything like that for the front page. I wrote that his contact rate and defense meant he was going to stick and be a useful player. Whatever, I was wrong about everything about baseball forever.
  6. I love seeing the 10-0 in the L10 part of the standings.
  7. That one guy who did his college paper on this is vindicated after all this time.
  8. I still have the account there that I made between 08 and 09.
  9. Not against it, but why should we give up assets to acquire someone who might be our 4 or 5 starter and won't pitch in the postseason? Our no. 4 probably makes postseason starts. Pretty rare to go 3-man these days.
  10. The 90 game thing was just interesting to me because we would basically just have to play two games worse over the next 63 than we have over the last 64 and we are at 89-73. For a team that was talking about 117, that is some whiplash.
  11. ok, umfan I see some of the same handful are still here complaining about others pointing out the cold hard facts, that they apparently don't want to see/hear or acknowledge. Eating their own and telling them how they should conduct their fandom. Now THAT's annoying. WAY more annoying than those venting their justified frustration over this (what is it 2 months worth now..?) garbage and Joe's "maddoningly" idiotic "I'm smarter than the game" routine. There's a reason they're far behind their pythag record...need look no further than the dugout and the clown shoe act coaching the bases for the most part...but hey, they throws a hell of a pajama party. smfh Yeah, none of that is true. I just like pointing out sad facts for funnies.
  12. Reached 19 games over at 27-8. About to still be there 64 games later. This team right now is very capable of not winning 90 games. Sure, if we play entirely below any sort of metric or statistic that predicts future performance. Why stop at 90? Cardinals are projected to win 87.6 wins and are losing tonight. I didn't say 89 wouldn't win the division.

  14. But the Cardinals are about three weeks from trading places in the standings with us.* *-(probably not really)
  15. Yes, you are. horsefeathers off with that [expletive].
  16. So since last season ended, to an already good team, Epstein has added Heyward, Lackey, Zobrist, Chapman and Montgomery plus re-upped Fowler after he appeared gone. I love Win Mode Theo. This is exactly who I admired in Boston.
  17. Theo wins "horsefeathers the closer" forever.
  18. I can't say that I would rather have McKinney than Cease. Sure McKinney will be higher on the prospect lists and Cease is a complete wild card, but he is also a rarity in the Cubs system. mckinney is literal garbage so of course id rather have cease than him but jesus christ the wailing and gnashing of teeth over these children in LOW A BALL is really amazing. An elite baseball player is an elite baseball player, but the mystery box could be anything. It could even be an elite baseball player!
  19. I hope we trade Eloy for an outfielder we don't even really need.
  20. I love every second of this. Win mode Theo is the best
