  1. We're gonna hit the brakes and let 'em fly right by, then blow them out of the sky.
  2. It really is bizarre. His favorite thing is pointing out when people were wrong about the Cubs not being bad. It's depressing. Someone around here has to be a realist when we are sucking. OK. But when we are still on pace to break the all-time record, that isn't your time to shine.
  3. Screw pitchers forever.
  4. In this case it is too late to worry about the division.
  5. Well this is all going to end in tears.
  6. I hope so. Without a major emotional interest, baseball games are boring as hell.
  7. SEE? This is the [expletive] that I'm talking about. Calling a game over when the best team in baseball who has scored the 2nd most runs in baseball and who tied up the game against the closer about 13 hours ago, still has 3 outs to work with? Stupid. Oh yeah, real stupid. It was stupid.
  8. i know it's a joke (and maybe it *is* the joke), but theo didn't get to draft until 3 picks later He chose not to trade up.
  9. If trout is so great, why didn't Theo draft him? I trust his original judgment.
  10. Curious, would you be willing to do Russell, Schwarber, Happ, Torres and Contreras for him and his salary or too much? The only reason I say no to that particular package (and it's mainly Russell, Schwarber, and Contreras that I'm talking about here) is because of the whole diminishing returns thing. We're beyond good enough, so I think spreading out that many guys who can give that much value as individuals and the depth that provides (primarily in insurance against injury) is a better fit for a team that is already set up to be this good. I think that's a fair analysis. It might be hard for the Cubs to find a fit here because they don't have a lot of incentive to give up fair value for a guy like Trout. But the A-Rod chase was always my favorite thing Theo did in Boston.
  11. Curious, would you be willing to do Russell, Schwarber, Happ, Torres and Contreras for him and his salary or too much? The value is fair. But I wouldn't do it for purely emotional reasons.
  12. Travis Cahill pitched major innings in the playoffs. I've learned to not snicker at any pickup no matter how seemingly insignificant.
  13. He's a 9-win player in one spot. Calling him worth Russell or Bryant plus several top prospects *is* including a discount for his salary.
  14. I have no idea if it's the best, but I want to see an outfield of Heyward/Almora/some other good defender at some point have an awesome game in a big outfield just breaking hearts.
  15. Yes, he is. He's got a .421 BABIP and the PCL is making it look like he has found his power because that is what the PCL does. ok? it's still 436 to 430; I'm not doing a full scouting report here My bad, I misunderstood. I thought you meant not far behind him in the top 20.
  16. Yes, he is. He's got a .421 BABIP and the PCL is making it look like he has found his power because that is what the PCL does.
  17. I hereby renounce robot umps. I want elite pitch framers abusing the system forever.
