  1. The Drew single made it 1st and 2nd, no outs. If the first two Cubs get on, we'll be favored. To be more specific, the Drew single gave the Diamondbacks a run expectancy of 1.54 for the inning, giving them a half-run lead essentially. But we still had our half of the inning, making it even.

  3. http://www.fangraphs.com/lgraphs/280510116_Diamondbacks_Cubs_70946586_lbig.png MOMENTUM!!!!
  4. That could have been much, much worse I guess.
  5. You can't use Marmol that early in his world, and he doesn't trust Howry or Wuertz.
  6. Theriot gets the most out of a raggedy arm I've ever seen from SS.
  7. Getting out of this inning down 2-1 would be a wonderful thing at this point. Lots of moaning will be had about the third ball, but he got a generous call in that at-bat too and did this to himself.
  8. Dempster really wanted that ball 3. Very borderline, but I say it's called a strike 60% of the time.
  9. Bases loaded, one out, one-run game in the sixth. Someday baseball will have managers smart enough to bring in Marmol here. LI 4.05 2-2 for Dempster though. One good pitch...
  10. I personally would have had Young hit a home run there. That would clear the bases, kill the momentum and take the pressure off the pitcher.
  11. Would Pie have gotten on base? Probably..... He's been doing it at a better rate than Johnson the last four weeks. Meanwhile, Theriot comes up a smidge short on a grounder through the left side. Wish we had a better offensive SS with better range sitting on the bench for no good reason.
  12. No, it just wasn't that deep. The RFer has a great arm and was able to get a running start with the catch. The throw would have had to have been quite offline to have any chance to score.
  13. Wendell Kim apparently snuck into the park today.
  14. Theriot with 0 RBIs in 5 PA's with runners on third, less than two outs this season. Here's his chance to come through. And plunked, the bases are loaded as usual.
  15. Wow, how did Johnson get to third on that play? Good for him.
  16. Is Dempster's sacrifice bet still alive with that one?
  17. If there is anything Reed Johnson does better than Felix Pie, besides hit left-handed pitching, it's that little "throw-your-elbow-out-while-pretending-to-dodge" an inside pitch move. But that one would have hit him anyway.
  18. Harry Caray impressions aren't difficult, and they aren't funny.
  19. That's not a fact. Its as much as a fact as the Felix Pie would be great given the chance to play full time arguement. More of a speculation. It's much less of a fact than the fact that Pie has been better than Reed Johnson offensively for the last four weeks, and is light-years ahead defensively.
  20. CF juked me on that one, turning and running instead of backing up slowly.
