  1. PECOTA disagrees, but yes - losing gallardo and having ned yost as a manager are two reasons that their record may not be as good as PECOTA would expect. I wonder what PECOTA would say if you added in the stats to date this season as well.
  2. Brewers Pythagorean Record since beginning of last season: 98-100. They are not a threat.
  3. At this point, I don't think either team finishes within 8 games of the Cubs, and I'd prefer the Cardinals lose just to put the Cubs in first and make me feel better.
  4. They track the odds of either team winning based on the relative score, inning, outs and baserunners. When the line is dead center, it's 50/50 (usually a tie game at the end of an inning).
  5. Were some MLB team unfortunate enough to have me in charge, I'd have one pen spot reserved for some worthless AAA guy with little value and I'd abuse his arm like crazy in every blowout. Then when his arm went out, I'd find another one.
  6. This inning will give the Cubs the league's best Pyth W-L.
  7. I now want to punch John Paxson in the face. A coach wasn't gonna change the fact that the team has no superstar and isn't smart enough to tear it down and lose enough for a chance to draft one. They are in perfect NBA purgatory.
  8. Heck yes. League records for CS don't set themselves, and we are probably gonna win regardless ;)

  10. GRITIOT DRIVES IN THE RUN! Cubs set major-league record for close plays at home plate, I assume.
  11. Pie may have been fast in the minors, but that doesn't prove he can be fast up here in the bigs.
  12. http://www.fangraphs.com/lgraphs/280510116_Diamondbacks_Cubs_70971377_lbig.png MOMENTUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Brewers rallying, trailing by 2 with one out in the seventh, bases loaded.
  14. Same guy who has used up 3 outs and been subpar in the field?
  15. Trailing by one and needing two to win, the Cubs intentionally lower their odds of scoring either one or two. ](*,) :banghead:
  16. Runner on first, no outs, down one in the seventh. Leverage index 3.03. It really, physically hurts to see the Cubs choosing to use an inferior player, then choosing to try to lower their odds of scoring.
  17. Stupid Fox, I couldn't tell if that single was today or not.
  18. BS calls? Explain. Maybe he's talking about calls Lou Piniella makes, like who to start at CF and SS?
  19. Short series' are essentially coinflips. I'm not confident, but I'm not worried either.
