  1. yeah this next cc bill is going to hurt
  2. 2 right behind brewers dugout on opning day! and 4 more in bullpen RF area same game!
  3. i had zero luck last year, so i was due. for some reason it was cheaper to have them mailed than email? i dont think the tix were different.
  4. i just got a bunch of bleachers for cards and sox :yahoo:
  5. i should've planned better and brought down a bucket to save time on bathroom trips.
  6. gooz throwing is good news. could he be ready by ASB?
  7. maybe he could hit a home run in game 7 to get us back in the ball game?
  8. towel joke
  9. I think he's got the best shot of any non-Cub. The Cardinals' fans are not going to shut up about him and his hype will be impressive if he gets a starting nod out of spring training. the cards should come up with a way to keep him in AAA until mid or late may, i forget which. that'd keep him under their control for a year longer. if they do that, he'd have to have a Braun like year to get ROY.
  10. The difference is being on the 60-day DL opens a spot on the 40-man, but does not stop the player's MLB service time. Taking the minor league assignment would take time away from his MLB service time, thereby affecting his pension. yeah pavanos motivation has been covered. but the yanks get their 40man spot at the beginning of the season either way so why do they care?
  11. The Yankees were not trying to cost Pavano money, they simply wanted to clear his roster spot and wash their hands of this disaster. Pavano's reason for not accepting this (according to his agent) was that accepting the minor league deal would affect his MLB service time and thereby cost him some of his pension! I find this laughable am thankful that Carla Pavana will be pitching elsewhere next season. That's a legitimate claim. He is entitled to that pension fund. Did the Yankees offer to cover the difference? It is a legitimate claim, and nothing the Yankees can do! I personally don't begrudge him one cent. It is actually better for the Yankees that he stay. Once ST ends, the Yankees will put him on the 60-day DL, thereby putting his 11M Salary on the insurance company. However, I don't feel an ounce of pity for the man. I will continue to compare him to Ed Whitson until I die! whats the difference roster wise between being on the 60 day dl and the minor league roster? both dont effect the 40 man roster right?
  12. why would pavano sign such a deal? to give him a hard time for it is ridiculous.
  13. to me it makes more sense to ship the astros to the AL. they'd have the rangers for rivals, they really dont have rivals in the central anyway. the moves arent made often, so i would ignore current talent when you're considering how this would effect the cubs.
  14. i didnt catch it all, but it had the feel that nothing was really said. blah blah blah, we'll wait on the investigation.
  15. Hahahah what a joke squad. So that leaves Carroll Safford M Lawrence Tiller K Lawrence Volkus as the rotation? Oh wow, Anderson Jr. and Berardini are going to get significant minutes aren't they. This is going to be so much of a disaster that now I'm mildly disappointed I won't be able to be there. if anyone has any skills it might be a good week to walk on...
  16. i know it. i hate to say pearl has a pretty good team down there.
  17. 2 degrees at kickoff in green bay. my wife thinks the game should be cancelled. she just doesnt get it.
  18. boy, thats something to consider. whats everyones opinion?
  19. gutless officiating. they pretty much werent going to give illini a chance to tie it from the line no matter what.
  20. i just see it as a low risk, no reward type move
  21. http://media.collegepublisher.com/media/paper420/stills/09pepn01.jpg that'd be one more reason to hate the pads
  22. how unready is rasmus, and how significant would him being opening day CF be to his contract? iirc, delaying a call up one month helped the cubs delay arby 1 year for some cub player (pie?). i'm going to a party tonight with a bunch of card fans and i'd like to be able to throw some more discouragement on their hopes for 2008 and beyond.
