  1. Go Rich. Too bad we still suck. Dusty will find a way to blame you.
  2. Hey and we have him signed for next year at another 2.5 million! Whoopeee!
  3. Here comes Novoa...there goes the game.
  4. Time for a pitching change. Prior looked to be arguing to stay in.
  5. I like both bands, but love Zeppelin.
  6. that must have been some hug. He must have hugged her from the back with his hands around her breasts and did a little pelvic thrust maneuver.
  7. Good. So Aramis will be retiring as a Cub. Some would say that he's already opting for early retirement, at least on the basepaths. "They" said there were motivational issues with him on the Pirates. When he came to the Cubs, there were established Dominican players here and the team was in the playoffs. Those respected Dominican players are no longer on the Cubs. The team isn't contending. DLee was the recognized team leader, at least media-wise, and he was out-of-service early on. Ramirez may not have been ready for the spotlight. He doesn't give very good interviews and he really really needs to stick with a station-to-station basepath plan, but he can still hit the ball really hard and really far. He shouldn't be the main plan, but he can fit into the overall plan quite nicely still. Trade him if you get good value back, but don't trade him because of lack of heart or hustle. Because sometimes the environment has a huge effect on that, and that seems to be the case with Aramis (like it or not). JMO, and I understand those who can't stand it when he admires his blasts. Sadly, there are only a handful of players who don't do that anymore (and Pujols is not among that handful). I'm not quite ready to exchange Aramis for some guy who won't have any blasts to stand around and admire for too long, and I don't trust Hendry to find someone or someones better than Aramis. Excellently said.
  8. Most training camps open this week! Go Cowboys!
  9. When I ask myself, if I could only listen to one or the other for the rest of my life, the choice becomes easy. GNR baby!
  10. But did you see his take on Willy Tavares? Check out Dierker's response to the first query. http://blogs.chron.com/larrydierker/2006/07/my_team.html#comments Prefers speed and defense! This sounds like Hendry's man! I think it might be nice to note who he is comparing Tavarez to. Also, it that ballpark, speed and defense are almost necessities in centerfield. I don't think Dierker is a "sabermetric" manager, but I do think he does use some research and at least understands the most fundamental ways to see which hitters and pitchers are the ones who are performing in ways that will help the team. He still has some "old school" ideas, but he's a thinker and doesn't often fall back onto conventional wisdom.
  11. Well he did add this about Bonds:
  12. I've probably watched as much baseball this year as anyone on the board.
  13. The networks aren't going to put a negative sign on TV even if your pimping the network.
  14. If it has anything to do with "flute" or an "apple pie", we don't want to hear about it, vance..... what if it was a baseball bat or a well greased catcher's mit?
  15. I voted AC/DC. I know the Beatles are a better group, but I prefer AC/DC.
  16. I keep wondering how a guy can hit 291 and only have an OBP of 319. I watched Brad Wilkerson tonight who is slumping badly. He's hitting 234, but his OBP is still higher than Jones.
  17. I'm all for trading Maddux for Kottaras, but I think I've expressed that already ad nauseum.
  18. So, essisentially what we got for Williamson. I'd have to see them in person first befiore I comment I understand completely.
  19. I'd take Roberts over Pierre as well. I'd advoacte using Jones in CF over Pierre too.
  20. I would do this if Theriot was not involved... cause if he is we would not have a second baseman. Then again... i guess you could put Tejada at second I like Fontenot's power potential and good discipline at 2B more than Theriot. He would probably be better. Theriot is probably going to be best as a utility man, not a starter. Any pursuit of Izturis is a waste of time. I agree that Izturis would just be a straight waste of time..... and to me Theriot and Fontenot are basically the same player except for the fact that Theriot has less power. Theriot brings a little more versatility than Fontenot. Theriot can play sort, but I'm pretty sure Fontenot is limited to second and third. Theriot's defense is a bit better than Fontenot as well. So if you already have a starting second baseman, Theriot is more valuable, but as a starting second baseman, Fontenot is likely better due to his bat? Agreed. I can probably agree with that assessment.

  22. I'd rather spend to sign Matthews than retain Pierre.
