  1. I found it on ESPN.com So, are you blaming them for bringing it up?
  2. The Mets need pitching much more than they need another bat.
  3. Looked like good hard-nosed baseball to me. It's definitlely no worse than plowing into a catcher who doesn't have the ball. To me, a catcher impeding the path of the baserunner when he does not have the ball is different than a runner going out of the baseline to break up a double play. Agree to disagree. It's just unfortunate that MLB is so vague with the rules in these types of situations. Thames was able to put both hands on the bag in the play I saw, so he wasn't really too far from the bag. His objective was to break-up the DP and he did. It's legal and considered clean.
  4. For many years, I longed to go to Wrigley. Finally, I was able to be there. I've been able to go for a few games the past few years. And if the wife is willing, I'll make them every year. I love to attend any baseball game, and if the opportunity presents, I go.
  5. Watch the Cubs sign Gonzalez this offseason and tout it as a difference-making move.

  7. Prior (0-4)http://www.the11thhour.com/archives/122000/moviereviews/images/unbreakable02.jpg takes his sparkling 7.71 ERA to the nation's capital to take on Astacio (who cares) and the Washington Nationals. This battle between inept franchises should be fun to watch. Hopefully, Prior doesn't get a hang nail and have to be scratched from the start. "Glendon go get those snakes!"
  8. Hey. If we win our next 20 games, we can be at .500 around August 11th!
  9. Hey Pierre grounds out 4-3! Fred, you have any numbers on how many percent of his AB's result in that?
  10. I refuse to vote Nirvana.
  11. All tied up with 32 votes cast.
  12. CCR all the way here. Proud Mary Keep on Turning!
  13. Sportscenter just reported that Mench could be on the block.
  14. I agree with you. I have some doubts about Cedeno and to a lesser extent Murton. Since this is a lost season, we have nothing to lose in continuing to throw them out there and see what happens.
  15. The Police has a slim one vote lead.
  16. Hardnett ?? For shame, Vance !! Oh well. It's called typing with a 2-year-old in your lap. All right, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and retracting my chastisement. I truly hope to have that same handicap 2 years from now. I hope you will as well!
  17. The Cubs aren't the only ones with some interesting choices... Dale Murphy is conspicuously absent from the Braves ballot, and instead is replaced with Chipper Jones and John Smoltz. Also missing from the Braves ballot is Greg Maddux....I'd think he's a better Brave than Smoltz. Frank Thomas is on the White Sox ballot. Personally, I think it would be funny if he is chosen. I think I'll cast a few votes for him. The Royals left off Quizenberry. While Brett is the runaway choice there, I'd have placed Quiz ahead of Sweeney. The Marlins list makes me laugh. Piazza makes the Mets' list but not the Dodgers'. That's strange to me. Neither Canseco nor McGwire make the A's list. McGwire is also absent from the Cardinals list. Maybe MLB asked teams to ignore players with connections to steroids. Alex Rodriguez makes no one's list. While I can understand his being left off the Yankees' list. (That must have been hard choosing only five from that team.) You'd think the Rangers or Mariners could have made room for him. The Rangers found room for Rusty Greer while the Mariners found room for Jamie Moyer! And speaking of the Rangers' list, apparently they didn't want to deal with the old Washington Senator days since Frank Howard would have been a better choice than Greer. I liked Greer, but best all-time Ranger?!?! Please. And where the hell is Juan Gonzalez on this list? His absence is troubling. Bonds made the Giants list, so at least one team doesn't mid putting a juiced up slugger on the ballot. The Nationals list though is the most messed up. Apparently they consider the Expos as part of the heritage which is nice. They do have Gary Carter on the ballot along with Rusty Staub. But putting Vidro and Schnieder there ahead of Andre Dawson and Tim Raines is simply criminal.
  18. Ok...Zambrano, the lone bright spot of the season, takes on Houston and Andy Pettite. We'll probably lose because we usually score negative runs against a left-hander. Zambrano gives us a chance. Go Cobs!
  19. There's no doubt that Cedeno is in a slump. And considering his OBP is so closely tied to his BA and that he doesn't have much power, he has to hit for a good clip to be useful at the plate. He's still young enough to work through this. I'm not sure he's the answer at short or not, but since we're not contending this year, there's nothing wrong with letting him try to work through it.
  20. Hardnett ?? For shame, Vance !! Oh well. It's called typing with a 2-year-old in your lap.
  21. Are you related or a family friend to him? I'm ot kidding or being sarcastic. It's an actual question. No. But I do think he is a productive player.
