  1. This is looking like a Cubs game thread.
  2. Hmmm.....Now which of these teams is undefeated?
  3. Is that counting what ARam will make if he doesn't opt out? Yes that's with Aram under his current deal. It's also estimating Zambrano at around 10 million.
  4. If I had bet on every one of my picks for the season, I'd probably have broken even so far.
  5. If my count is right, roughly 65 million.
  6. http://jonmdavis.net/louterror.jpg Just showing off the new sig!
  7. WSCR is bush league. I dont believe anything they say anymore. I want this dude and that hardcore WMVP hater to argue. Who was that guy again? CubbieRich :banned: ?
  8. I think Walker might already be as good as Juan Pierre. :P
  9. The only positive I see is that bringing a "big name" manager gives me the impression that the Cubs want to win now. I like that mentality. I reserve judgment until I see what kind of off-season we have. If we get a big name pitcher (Zito), and a big bat (C. Lee or Soriano), I like our chances. Time will tell. I thought that Baker was a big name manager and he didn't bring much to the table. I think he brought lots to the table. Everytime I'd see him going into the ballpark on the road, he had food with him.
  10. I personally liked how he refused to give Glavine credit for pitching well against them. That showed a lot of arrogance to me. But, hey! Wait a sec and some Cardinal fans will start mentioning his charity work and how we should all genuflect before him.
  11. Maybe he was the one who smashed Sosa's boom box... :-k
  12. Do you think the cowboys are good? They have the weapons, but with the current offensive line, I'm skeptical. They've won the games people thought they would win and lost the ones everyone thought they would lose. They're a half game behind the division lead, so they have a shot. They've allowed the fewest points as anyone in the division, so they have that going for them. Monday night at home against the Giants will be a telling sign. They have to protect Bledsoe. If they do that, they can win. If not, the chances aren't that good. I think the Cowboys defense can pressure Manning into some mistakes. The offense will need to capitalize.
  13. So far it looks as if I were right on two of my Piniella coaching staff predictions.

  15. Go Cowboys! Big game this week!
  16. 16 million for an .827 OPS? no thanks. For a clutch, Pennant Winning HR? Yes, Please. An .827 OPS in right field probably won't allow you to get to that situation in the first place. Umm... didn't exactly that just happen? yes! Lets get Jim Leyritz too! Don't forget Mark Lemke!
  17. Zito vs Schmidt ERA + 2006 Zito: 116 Schmidt: 125 2005 Zito: 116 Schmidt: 94 2004 Zito: 104 Schmidt: 125 While Zito is more constient, Schmidt when good is better. Zito is a good pitcher, but he hasn't been a great pitcher in three years. Schmidt approaches great. I'd take Matsusaka over all of them. Schmidt would be second. Zito third. I think all would help make the Cubs better. I think Matsusaka and Schmidt are more likely to dominate and be better post-season pitchers.
  18. Why? Makes 30-35 starts a year, average 15 wins a year, eats up innings, .618 career winning %, 1.25 career WHIP, .232 career BAA, 3.55 career ERA. Schmidt seems to be just as good a choice. Matsusaka also seems to be just as good a choice. He's younger and appears to have great pitches.
  19. One of the advantages of McDonough taking over for MacPhail may be a willingness to pursue the top FA. I think MacPhail, because of his work with the CBA, was often reluctant to drop too much money on one player because it might skew the salary structure and appear to be irresponsible. I think his relationship with Selig may have kept him from letting Hendry play free with the company resources. McDonough may be more willing to allow Hendry to spend on the big fish.
  20. You started Galloway? Yikes. Vance, do you mind giving a quick score report for the remainder of us since you have stat tracker? By my count I should be up ~28 points with Uber having Moss, Jordan, and Gould left. Yeah, I started Galloway. :( Ok, scores as of 6:52 PM Smells Like Tuna 71 Midway Monsters 57 (Tuna's team is done, Monsters have 3 players on Mon) IMB 86 Pantsless Mascots 46 (Mascots have 3 left to play) Cut for Cap Space 80 Da Bears 54 (Bears have three players left) Raw Dawgs 71 Ditka's Army 62 (Raw has one left to play) 4th and Goal 43 The Football Team 72 (4th and Goal have three left)
  21. I won't be leading the ATS picks after this week.
  22. I'm ahead by 14 but with the Midway Monsters having three still to go Monday night, I don't like my chances. Once again, I should have started Colston. He'll be in there somewhere from now on.
