  1. Jerome was likely on a short leash thanks to his wonderful spring. Let's not forget about that before you start complaining about sending someone down after "one bad outing." Hopefully, other pitchers learn a lesson, don't think you are going to be successful after an offseason of pizza and twinkies.
  2. So after watching Hendry on WGN, does this thread need a new title? Maybe... oh I dont know... the eating crow thread?
  3. [-X [-X [-X Cubs winning trumps fantasy stats at all times Yea, I have definitely been rooting for Furcal and Mueller to fail in this series, in spite of starting them on my fantasy team.
  4. He wasn't even close to 92-93 with his two-seamer. He wasn throwing anywhere from the mid 80's to 90. Topped 90 with his four-seamer a few times. Didn't throw his slider much at all. But I would rather have Z go 6 innings and give up one run throwing at that speed that throwing 95 and getting taged. With this start is it about impossible for Z to win Cy Young? You gotta have wins to ge the Cy Young right? It is April 19th and you are trying to give out the Cy Young already??? You do know the season goes all the way through September right? Who cares about the stupid award anyways, I want to worry about seeing the White Flag.
  5. He's just flailing at any ball tossed up there. Its the kind of swing your high school coach would yell at you for to keep your head on the ball, not that I would know anything about that  . Hopefully, its mostly just a timing issue.
  6. IIRC, it was just before the start of play in the bottom of the 3rd? Yea he went on about NSBB for a couple minutes almost.
  7. I saw a couple in the 94 range. But I also saw a lot more in the mid-80s than usual. Probably trying to rein in the control after looking at his past 3 outings. Just too bad that Lowe was just on fire last night.
  8. Maybe it'll pave the way for Felix in RF soon then?
  9. So I have been proposed a tough trade. I give up Andruw Jones to get Tejada. I already have Furcal at SS and without Jones my OF would be mediocre. Who would do this trade?
  10. Gotta love Don Mattingly, he's from my neck of the woods and the stories are endless. But my favorite was when my buddy and I were umpiring an all-star game his son was playing in and my buddy blew two calls in a row so naturally he made things better by kicking out the coach - yea this guys an idiot. But afterwards Don Mattingly comes up to us and suggests that my friend is the WORST umpire he has ever seen and he should quit now before he teaches kids a bad lesson. Still laugh at the guy to this day over this incident.
  11. 1. Ryno 2. Andre Dawson 3. Sammy 4. Glen Allen Hill - he hit the ball on top of that roof and man did I love the power outfield 5. Gary Gaetti
  12. Unlike others, I like this team. I really think they have a shot of surprising people just like my favorite college basketball team - North Carolina. We could be in for some surprises that could make this a very rewarding season, if not, oh well, we weren't supposed to be that good anyways.
  13. I don't think either team would do that. No kidding, the Red Sox are too smart to make that trade, and the Cubs are too cheap/dumb. I was being sarcastic to point out the silliness of this discussion. Guess I should have put it in green or blue or something.
  14. Do you think they would do Jones for Nixon straight up?
  15. They were guaranteed immunity from everything apart from perjury as one of the conditions of their testimony. That has nothing to do with any sanctions a private organization, such as Major League Baseball, would want to levy upon their players. It only has to do with possible criminal charges filed by the government (the body granting the immunity) that would come DIRECTLY from that testimony.
  16. Not a good sign for our offense either. People have to stop trying to read the tea leaves via the first week of spring training games, or any spring training games for that matter. The results of these games aren't a sign for anything. Amen.
  17. It's easy... Haven't you seen the Zac Barker (drummer for Blink 182) commercial where he is all swole. :)
  18. Who cares what he says about players in the AL really? Would you rather him come out and bash LaTroy, ala Kenny Williams? What would be the point?
  19. I am done now... too much money spent Tickets to 4/7 - opening day 4/26 - awesome tickets on a value date 5/18 - bleachers for NSBB 7/2 - Sox bleachers 7/29 - Cards bleachers
  20. You have to just keep trying with the credit cards, I think their system is overloaded.
  21. No, you can pick a different game if you click the 'schedule' link on the top (its small). That's what I just did to get my bleacher tickets to the Sunday Sox game since Saturday was up to the nosebleeds.
  22. Is there a limit on the number of tickets you can get? Like total number of games?
  23. The Cubs heard that you switched allegiances.
  24. I remember last year they listed the sold out games as they sold out at the bottom of the VWR window.
