  1. Most of the lineup is going to be bad, but 2-3-4-5 is going to be very very good. Very Very Good, Eh? How then does a 2-3-4-5 of Soriano, Lee, Ramirez, Fukudome look to you? The only one of those were the Cardinals are better would be potentially needing surgery. And if "most of the lineup is going to be bad," how then can EXACTLY HALF of the everyday players be described as very very good? The Cubs 2-5 also look very very good, no doubt. Most of the lineup is going to be bad even though half of it is going to be very very good is because contrary to popular belief, in the National League, the pitcher still has to bat. That would make 5 of the 9 hitters in the lineup bad. This is comical in many ways. I guess I should expect this from a team who bats the pitcher 8th. But I especially love the marriage to the second and totally unnecessary "very."
  2. I'd change that ASAP, our guys are all out of gas and we've been slumping pretty badly. Neither out of gas nor slumping... Duke just isn't good. They'll lose in the 2nd Round or Sweet Sixteen.

  4. im not clear on this issue, but if he has to be convicted first to be pardoned, isn't there a pretty big chance that W is not in office long enough to pardon him? You can be pardoned prior to being convicted of any crime. See Nixon, Richard. He would just be pardoned for any potential wrongdoing associated with testimony given to Congress, Baseball, etc.
  5. Too bad anything the Feds do to Roger will be quickly undone by a pardon from W the day he leaves office, if not sooner.
  6. Doesn't that sail kinda look like the space shuttle?
  7. I don't have a problem with buying tickets to sell on eBay... heck, I've done it in the past.. free market capitalism at its finest. But common courtesy should be not to brag about getting tickets to sell while others here are wanting to get tickets so they can go themselves or maybe even take their familites to a game and are unable to get through.
  8. Is Kosuke trying to determine whether it is better to dive head first, slide feet first or run through an outfield catch?
  9. Anyone know when individual Cards tickets go on sale? And with their 5,000 options for multi-game packages is it actually best to just get them on eBay? My birthday is cinco de mayo, and I'd like to see the Cubs beat up on the Cards in their new stadium.
  10. Comments about players weight... ahhhhhh... it really is officially spring training! I love Big Z smiling at the camera instead of doing the skipping drill. I'm also like Lou sporting the ring, its a nice touch.
  11. Forgive me if I made an error in understanding the math involved, but I have been curious about this since I looked up the raw formula for EqA the other day. If Raw = (SF + SH + 1.5*BB + 1.5*HBP + 1.5*SB + 2*1B + 3*2B + 4*3B + 5*HR)/(SF+SH+BB+HBP+SB+CS+AB), are you not actually ignoring Sacrifice hits and flies? Since SF and SH are both in the top and bottom half of the equation and are not affected by a multiplier, they seem to be surplusage. i.e. SF/SF = 1 and SH/SH = 1 and therefore do not effect the result. Or is it that the bottom of the equation is actually SF and SH opportunities? If so, how is that calculated, since I don't believe its a stat that's regularly kept. Thanks in advance for helping me understand this concept.
  12. Still need anyone else?
  13. Yea, Yadier's arm makes up for his career 69 OPS+, so much so that he's 3rd and Geo's crazy numbers and even numbers as projected put him at 9th IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE. Classic SportingNews. I'm surprised they didn't end with something about the greatest fans in baseball.
  14. Anyone checked his website (I can't right now)? I'm sure he's got an opinion that he'll gladly spout to anyone willing to listen.
  15. Sanders may never play again after that shot to the noggin. I think they have came out and said he is for sure not playing in 08. Sanders took a shot to the head too? Or are you thinking of Juan Encarnacion? All those former Cardinals are the same to me.

  17. Your going to regret messing with the pixie dust at teh end of the year. Typical dook fan grammar.
  18. I want to start my own website where I make stuff up and see how many message boards it can filter down to... ultimately maybe even ESPN would pick it up if it hit enough and then I could be indirectly famous. That would be soooo cool man. Hasn't Bruce ----someone who actually would know---- said before that Hendry keeps these sorts of things close to his chest and no one tends to know unless they are done? Why would this be any different? Why would this guy with a stupid nickname for lil sarge, have the skinny on a trade that Hendry just began discussing?
  19. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3168534 Typical Roger.. I wonder how much he sold himself for to CBS for the exclusive? And do him and his team not realize that publicly stating that you are hiring pi's to investigate McNamee make him look more guilty?
  20. This is a good point. He maybe stuck with a bp fastball the rest of his likely short career.
  21. I'm not sure a thread about getting rid of Edmonds is the right place to talk about them getting worse. This move probably makes them better, addition by subtraction. And I'm not sure who I'd rather see on the Cards, slappy or Rolen.... Rolen could be real bad hobbling through the last few years of his contract. That said... I think we can agree its going to be fun how bad they should be... 4th or 5th in the division seems a given.
  22. My buddy in St. Louis called me this morning to tell me he heard Haren was going to be traded and possibly to the Cubs. I laughed him off. Unfortunately, he was only half right.
  23. ::Vince Lombardi Voice:: What's going on out here?!? ::/Vince Lombardi Voice:: Can we change the title so people who want to catch up on rumors rather than participate in the fundamental argument between traditional baseball types and stat heads don't visit this thread to look for any news about transaction rumors???
  24. And does the penguin have this magic test that's going to be able to tell if everyone is truly clean and not taking HGH? :-k If so, :-$ go to your nearest patent attorney before talking to anyone in baseball. If baseball had the balls to blood test its players this would not be a problem. There is a magic blood test. Testing is always behind catching those taking the next best thing that avoids the current tests available at a given time.
